Artemis was probably trained to be an assassin by her Dad, and if I remember rightly, that training is really fucking harsh. So, five times the team spotted scars on Artemis and she explained them away (however weakly) and one time she told the truth about them.

Water swirled around her. Artemis tried to swim up but the current was too strong. Her lungs were beginning to burn. Suddenly an arm wrapped around her waist and held tight as they propelled upward. They broke the surface, Artemis gasping to catch her breath.
“I am so sick of nearly drowning”, the archer stated as the Atlantian trended to shore.
“I wouldn’t know the feeling”, Kaldur replied causing his teammate to chuckle.
A glint of sunlight reflected off Artemis’s hair, and something caught Kaldur’s eye.
“Not to be rude, but what caused that scar?”
Artemis’s hand flew up to her hairline and traced the scar that her hair normally covered. Her father had been training her. She was tired and didn’t dodge the javelin in time. Her father wasn’t happy with her mess up.
“I hit my head, had to get stiches.”
When they reached land, Artemis was quick to distract herself with the mission. Kaldur frowned somberly after her.
