Dashing through the Store (Repost) anonymous April 8 2011, 03:33:24 UTC
From part two (http://community.livejournal.com/yj_anon_meme/1399.html?thread=2856823)

Kid Flash's the newest thief in town. Dashing in and dashing out, he's the epitome of "cool" thief, and even had Robin-hood like episodes.

Young Justice's mission? Find him, catch him, and see if they can turn him to the side of good.

Your task, should you choose to accept it: Foe yay between thief!Kid Flash and Young Justice. All of it.

BONUS POINTS for fedora's and saxaphones, like a 1930's gangster.

More bonus points for including the feeling behind this song that a very lovely anon linked me to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Msg8ypnLqaw

This was already an amazing prompt, and I was gonna second the SHIT out of it, and then you linked to the Baccano op, and I was like "HOLY SHIT EVEN MORE WIN!!"

Yesssss! Because if Wally's not the Flash's sidekick, he'd have to have a totally different outfit. Like a fedora, oh yeah.

w00t!

ngl, the whole reason I prompted this is because I love the idea of Wally in a fedora and white suit being an awesome smooth thief and being on the run from the rest of YJ while flirting with everyone...

So, if any potential authors are out there, as long as the above sentence is true, I don't care why or how it happens. Promise. If it's KF who's been brainwashed and made into a thief, I will be happy. If it's an alternate universe where KF was never a superhero, I will be happy. If "our" KF and another universe's KF switch places, I honestly will be happy. ^_^

Couldn't work in a sax or the 1930s mood, but consider this my claim to the prompt.

A person's first impression lasts the longest. A first impression establishes a crook's reputation, and having a good rep-or a bad one, admittedly-is half the fun of villainy.

Which makes the new kid's sudden appearance a little unnerving. He's quick, quiet, and sometimes you don't even notice he's there until he's long gone, and the jobs he pulls are just the same. Quiet. And Captain Cold isn't even sure how long the guy's been working in this town.

There's a new player in Central City, and no one knows anything about him.

AW YEAH TITANS~! I'm so excited! I love the mystery, the quiet, efficient way he pulls the jobs, I can't wait for the real solid start (as this is the prologue?) omigosh!

*hugs anon* I'm gonna put some smooth sax music on when I see a new part, m'kay??

*hugged*

Yep. Wally started off with little things, like pickpocketing and convenient stores and places that most Rogues tend to ignore (because that's kiddy amateur stuff, yanno?), but eventually he started to instinctively target bigger, more high profile places that are more prone to being robbed by Rogues. By the time they run into Wally, he's already been established as a Central City thief, right under their noses, and they're busy scratching their heads and wondering where this guy came from.

And I've been listening to all the jazz music that a friend recced to me. For, ah "inspiration". Also just for the fun of it. Hope you enjoy the next part.

When I realized from my notes how long this story was going to be, I actually almost scared myself out of it, but I couldn't resist just trying it out, and I have absolutely no regrets.

Hope I don't disappoint you guys!

Let's rewind a few days, back to the day Captain Cold first realized there was a new kid working the area.

”Everybody freeze.”It started off with a normal mid-afternoon robbery at Jackson's Jewelers, and so far it had been going fairly well, by Captain Cold's standards-and by fairly well, he meant that the Flash hadn't arrived yet, and the situation overall was under control, with all workers and customers gathered in the front of the shop where he could keep an eye on them and make sure the police wasn't going to be alerted of the robbery ( ... )

“Who are you?” Cold demanded, pointing his ice guns at the man.

“Seriously?” he asked. “You really expect me to answer that?”

He had a point.

Cold eyed the broken glass on the floor. With this kind of unnecessary collateral damage, he was pretty sure this guy was a crook like himself.

“Central City is full,” Cold told him, determined not to let this new guy one-up him. “We don't have room for any new costumed criminal.”

“Well unfortunately, I'm stuck here for the next few years, so someone's going to have to make room,” he replied. “Because if no one does...”

“You making a threat?” he asked the stranger. “Because I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm the one holding a gun in your face ( ... )

No problem. I'm glad you like it. :D The prompt just wouldn't leave me alone until I wrote it, because the idea of a character wearing a fedora was just too much to resist. I've been in a bit of a writing slump, making this the first thing I've written in ages that's been more than a few chapters long (and is complete. ish.)

And Wally's presence in Central is actually a lot more mundane than one living in the DCverse would think, but his circumstances will be explained later. :)

On a side note, in one of my drafts, while I was trying to figure out how Wally got his outfit, he was going to be the Question's protege. It would've been awesome, but I couldn't come up with a plot that I could work well with. Not to mention, Question's face (or, rather, lack of one) gives me the creeps.

Yay~ XD XD XD

Cool, it sounds awesome!

I know what you mean... Though Q is one of my fav characters, he scares me. True, that could have been awesome, but I'm actually more glad that you have a plot you're happy with writing. X3
