Chapter 1 The first week of my job went on smoothly. I was able to reach my working place on time that day and my ears were saved. It was my second week working in the company and I was practicing my skills on the hair model when my superior entered the room.
"Mitsuno-san, please come over to my office after you’re done with your hair model," she ordered.
I caught her eyeing at my hair model for a brief moment before walking out of the room and closed the door behind her. I heaved a heavy sigh before focusing my attention back onto my hair model. Through the mirror, I saw Kera staring at me and I raised my eyebrows.
"What?"
"I wonder what business she has with you," she said while combing her hair slowly with her fingers.
“You know, she's well-known for having ridiculous requests."
I raised my eyebrows at her statement for a second before shifting my gaze back to my hair model. Although Kera was two years younger, she had entered the company a year before me. She was so-called my senior and I had seen her skills before. It was simply fabulous. No one would ever believe a fourteen years old kid could be so talented.
“We will see then,” I said tonelessly, layering the hair.
“But I don't think she will dump those on me yet. I'm still an amateur, you know."
I stole a glance at the mirror just in time to see Kera shrugging her shoulders with a slight frown.
“I don't know either. It all probably depends on her mood,” she commented while standing up and headed over to her hair model.
I stopped what I was doing and my eyes were glued on her back view. Fastening the belt of equipment around her waist, she drew out a pair layering scissor with a comb skillfully and began to cut.
Thanks to her previous statement, I began to panic.
----------------------------------------------------------
“Are you serious, Saiko-san?” I asked in bewilderment while my eyes were staring widely at the sheet of paper in front of me.
“What makes you think that I'm joking around, Mitsuno-san?” she shot back with her fingers laced together while staring at me intently.
Her stare made me shuddered lightly and I managed to shift my gaze back to the paper. Reading out the details for the third time, I still couldn't believe my eyes.
"Well, what do you think, Mitsuno-san?" she asked, averting her gaze away from me to the paper and tapped her finger lightly on it.
“It’s a good opportunity for you.”
I bit my lips hard.
Yes, it’s a good opportunity. But it seems too good to be true.
"I…I-I think you should r-recommend Kera-chan instead," I stuttered nervously before dropping my gaze and pushed the paper back to her.
Bang!
I jumped at the sound and looked up immediately. To my horror, she was staring at me with a menacing glare. Slamming both of her palms on the table once again, she gritted her teeth angrily.
“Mitsuno Yoriko-san, do you know that I didn't hire you just for fun?” she growled quietly and a shiver shot up my spine.
I nodded and sank further into the chair. She stood up from her chair and turned to face the windows. Staring at her back, I felt myself relaxed a little. However, her voice boomed again, making my body to stiffen for the second time.
“Do you want to know why I've chosen you instead of Yuzumi-san?” she asked with a much gentler tone.
"Y-yes," I stuttered at my answer.
"I guess you should know that it isn't easy to get a job as a hairstylist in Johnny's Jimusho," she started and turned around while I cringed in my seat.
"Moreover, you’re going to be the hairstylist of a currently famous band," she continued while walking past her desk but her gaze was not on me.
"And yes, you're right," she paused, stabbing a finger in my direction and I froze instantly.
"You're just an amateur. On the business way of thinking, whether by experience or skills, I should be recommending Yuzumi-san," she admitted and crossed her arms.
"However, I've decided to risk it and recommend you instead," she said while eyeing me from the corner of her eyes.
"Because I know that you have the potential to impress them," she finished and walked towards her chair before settling down. My jaws dropped slightly at her last statement.
Hold on a second. What's going on here? I’m actually able to impress a group of singers? Did she eat the wrong during lunch break earlier?
"Saiko-san, you must be kidding me," I blurted before slapping my hand over my mouth.
What the hell am I talking about?
To my surprise, she flashed a smile in my direction and I blinked twice.
Wait, she’s actually smiling at me?
I searched her smile for any trace of sarcasm but to no avail.
My eyes aren't kidding me. That’s actually her real smile.
“Earlier when I went to the room to look for you, you were training your skills on the hair model and I was really surprised by I had seen,” she said and leaned over with her chin on her laced fingers.
“The hairstyle that I had seen earlier was simply wonderful. Just with one look, I’m sure there’s a hidden potential within you. To bring it out, I thought that I should take the first step by sending you over to be their hairstylist,” she finished off with a wide smile.
I blinked a few times as I tried to process her sentence.
Hidden potential? She was just kidding with me…right?

"What?"
The ten guys stared at their manager in astonishment.
"Well, there's nothing much to be surprised about," their manager commented lamely and shot at them a weird look.
"But she could come back after her maternity leave! Why did she want to quit straight away?" Yabu Kota, the oldest member in the group, protested and the rest nodded in agreement.
Their manager heaved a heavy sigh, resisting the strong urge to palm himself in the face.
Sometimes, he really wondered how the members were actually able to show their manly and cool side to the fans. In fact, behind the scenes, they were merely a bunch of noisy kids.
"Guys, she has a child to take care of now," their manager explained and stared at them as if they were some three-years-old kids.
The members finally understood and nodded. Their manager couldn’t help but to roll his eyes at their reaction.
"It's such a pity that she has to leave. She was a really good hairstylist," Hikaru sighed and shook his head dramatically.
The members nodded while their manager rolled his eyes, totally finding the entire matter ridiculous.
"Alright kids, enough of those now," he said sternly, grabbing their attentions and continued, “We’ve found a new hairstylist to replace her. She’ll be working with all of you from tomorrow onwards. So, please be nice to her."
After hearing that, the members began to discuss among themselves and their manager shook his head hard before heaving another sigh again.
"Can’t you guys stop talking for a minute? I haven't finished conveying my message yet," he scolded with a frown and clicked his tongue loudly.
Immediately, the whisperings dead down and all eyes were on him once again.
“Her name is Mitsuno Yoriko. From what we've gathered, she is still an amateur. Despite that, her skills are quite unique and able to cut fabulous hairstyles. Well, that's a sum up. I'll be meeting everyone here at eight in the morning tomorrow."
With that, their manager left the room hastily. As soon as the door was closed, the members exchanged glances before breaking the silence.
"She's an amateur!" Hikaru exclaimed loudly with a dramatic horrified look.
It made most of the members laughed while Kota merely rolled his eyes at Hikaru’s exaggerated reaction.
"Yeah, but manager-san said that her skills are quite unique," Yuto added while drumming his fingers against Keito’s arm, who was somehow irritated by it but couldn’t bear to tell the latter off.
"Hmm, I guess we’ll just have to check out her skills tomorrow to confirm it," Daiki finished off with the rest of the members, except Yuuri, nodding in agreement.
Glancing to his side, Ryosuke found Yuuri fiddling with his phone and patted on his shoulder.
"Chii, what do you think about that amateur hairstylist?" Ryosuke asked.
"I've nothing to comment on. I'm going to the vending machine to buy a drink," Yuuri replied coldly, shrugging off Ryosuke's hand and stood up from his chair.
The rest of the members watched as he closed the door with a loud bang and averted their gaze to Ryosuke.
"Chii seems to be really pissed off and unusually quiet as well," Yuya said after flipping his phone close with a loud snap.
"Yeah, which brave person has the guts to offend our little king?" Kei asked jokingly.
Ryosuke set his lips into a grim line and recalled about the event that had happened earlier. Then he began to explain. After ten minutes of explanation, the members finally knew the reason behind Yuuri's cold attitude that day.
"Wow, it's a girl who has offended him? That's the first time I’ve heard of it," Hikaru exclaimed in surprise and Ryosuke shrugged his shoulders.
"Me either. But I don't really understand why he has to get so worked up because of that," he spoke out his thoughts and the members merely looked at each other in doubt.
"Well, maybe the girl had done something that really exceeds his tolerance," Keito mumbled and everyone looked at him in awe.
Even though he was mumbling, all the other members heard his statement fully and clearly.
“Keito always speak things that are so charismatic," Daiki complimented with a wide grin and threw his arm around Keito's shoulders.
Keito shook his head slightly with an embarrassed smile. Everyone chuckled at his reaction and Kota clapped his hands together.
"Well, I don't think we need to be too worried over it. I'm sure Chii will be back to himself by tomorrow," he reassured the other members while nodding slightly.
"The only thing that should be in our minds now will be the practices and probably the new hairstylist cum make-up artist who will be joining us for the first time tomorrow."
