To point out firstly, the male protagonist is "silent" and his personality in a way is portrayed through the player. However, compared to the female protagonist, he seems to be more calmer than her more excited cheerful self, seen by her words when she does speak (seen during Battle Trains.)
When Touya is first met, he gives off that impression that he's very quiet, probably even not talkative so much that he tends to keep to himself. However, you'll notice that he gives off more than just that, something entirely different rather. He never holds a cold or distance feel about him, but instead a friendly and welcoming one. Despite what he is, a Pokemon Trainer, and what his journey and traveling brings him to, he's actually very social and a very kind person. Upon traveling, he's always satisfying his curiosity about the place and city he's in by talking to every single person in town, making conversations and listening to what people have to say and maybe even stories they may have heard when they were young about legends or even the city itself. He's never rude as to skip someone despite age or gender, however his curiosity even pushes him to walk into even strangers' home just to talk to people. (Though the people themselves seem to have no problem with it, fortunately.) He takes his time to talk to people and explore, never rushing or focusing on Gym Battling alone.
Touya has a big heart for all Pokemon, hoping to see all kinds available within the area to make friends and possibly even traveling partners. Pokemon are seen more than just simple tools used for battling, he sees them as friends and bonds you create with another that are worth more than anything so simple. While he may not be as obsessed as Pokemon fans he does enjoy the company and spending time with his Pokemon, allowing them time out to explore and the like rather than always keeping them stored away in their Pokeballs. The care and gentle nature he holds for them even extend to the point he'll do anything to rescue them were they in any danger. This doesn't stop only on his own Pokemon, any Pokemon for that matter he will risk to help.
With his ability of kindness with Pokemon, it doesn't only end with them. Throughout his childhood he has been with Cheren and Bianca, and though the three don't travel together on their Pokemon journey, they frequently run into each other, battling one another as well as helping if one were in need of some help. It comes to show that Touya holds really strong on friendship, having full trust in them and will never say no to one in need. Even if his friendship with them has been for a long time, it doesn't mean he isn't open to making more friendship, after all that's part of going on an adventure. The tree had decided together it was a dream to become Pokemon Trainers; Cheren aims to get stronger and stronger and become strongest, a Champion, Bianca aims to grasp hold of some strength, to be strong and possibly find what it is she wants to do. Meanwhile with Touya, his dreams more or less lie in the neutral part of the two. While it's a thought to become a Champion, he doesn't exactly aim on getting stronger, just experiencing and enjoying his time with his partners and the world outside of his Hometown along with keeping in the world where Pokemon and Humans can live along side another happily.
Now, while Touya is sociable with everyone, kind to Pokemon, and a boy with thoughts of living in a world with both living along side another, his personality can expand further. When it comes to team Plasma and stealing of Pokemon, he can get real serious and jump right into the action. Unlike Cheren who sees them as a big waste of time, Touya focuses on what's important and deal with them as well as get back the Pokemon or whatever it is that has been stolen. While one Gym Leader has offered a battle against him in return, Touya did it for the sake of finding the criminals being aware of what their intentions turn out to be. Due to him being more mature than his friends, it's not as thought you won't see him angry or upset, it matters mostly on the situation at hand to see it. He also can be seen teasing, playful amongst his friends as well as his Team at times. So there's more to it that just may take a while to see.
[Specialties/Abilities] No powers! He's just an average boy with a big heart for Pokemon.
[Affection] All affections are alright with Touya, but he hasn't really considered or thought much about 'love' so he won't exactly be quick on returning the affection. Hugs, holding hands, those he may fine with, but kissing on the cheek and anything more will obviously fluster him. But he won't be uncomfortable around affectionate people!
[Fighting] Touya cannot and will not injure or kill another person, nor will he fight. Perhaps if he were to protect someone would he attempt to fight, but back at home you didn't really have to worry about that. Not to mention Pokemon are used to fight/battle, of course if he can help from having his partner getting harmed unnecessary here (once he figures out this world is not like his own), he'll avoid that (if Serperior will allow it.) Otherwise Touya himself isn't a good fighter, probably could throw a couple of punches, but hardly much, he'll keep from invoking any fighting too, he isn't once to provoke people.
