the implication in the song is that love is not worth expressing, though the longing for it is in itself the dormant state of the thing. the line preceding it is "no matter how broken and withered it may be...", if that provides necessary context.

also the lyrics seemed profound to me earlier, being in the midst of a break up. though that's something of an ambiguity now.
