Username: asukaflying Prompt #: 310 [prompt details]au. Yifan hasn't really thought about dating, or who he likes or anything like that. He's too busy with studying and school and keeping one foot ahead of the other. But then he meets Xu Jinglei, an older woman, and everything changes. Except it hasn't really. Title: Le Garçon aux Yeux Gris Ship: Xu Jinglei (actress,

Les Égarés caught my eye and I have no regrets! This was so much poetic perfection! And I can't resist noona romances and this was just delicious-a confection of what-ifs and what-will-he's. Yifan with grey eyes! Jinglei's mature and urbane outlook and contemplations! Her tête-à-tête with her cousin. Everything was so elegantly delightful.
I love that yifan and jinglei have seem to share the same passions for art and film despite the age gap. That yifan is driven to tears and that jinglei offers him a tissue-it's a lovely subversion of the stereotype of the damsel in distress who must be saved by a knight errant. How about the opposite? Or maybe yifan and jinglei will just save each other?
Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun writing a slightly more mature woman; her character was simply delightful to explore. (And I had a lot of fun with Yifan's eyes.) I must admit I based the coffee shop scene off a recollection of a visit to Tokyo, the green and the rain and the umbrellas. Fond memories.
I think that art and film can be very, shall I call it, unifying? It can cross divides. I imagined the idea of watching an old favourite with a new friend and seeing it as though through new eyes; I find I do this myself quite often, actually.
I'm not entirely sure, but I would see it more as a give and take? Jinglei remembers crying all the other times she watched the film, so it's more like this is her turn to give comfort, in a way, it's natural. Everyone is a knight, and the damsels wipe their eyes and pick up their swords and slay the dragon (or shall we change it to, wipe the dragon's tears away?)

Oh! I'm very glad I wrote it then! Though I had a marvelous time regardless; Jinglei is fascinating and I found her a delight to explore. (And I couldn't resist photographer Myungsoo because. . .well, Myungsoo of course.)
I felt a bit bad for Yifan, but not really. He's just had the pleasure of making a fabulous new acquaintance and though I don't know how things will progress, we never know in life, I'm sure that at the very least they'll be able to strike up a fabulous friendship.
