YiFan’s eyes shine with bitterness and regret despite LuHan’s best efforts, and while YiFan is dressed like his plan for the day is to go around handing out boners, his expression is telling of a much different desire. LuHan pushes Jongin across the room, waving a hand at the 187cm mess and telling Jongin to do something because LuHan just gets so tired of trying. LuHan sighs, like dealing with YiFan and his incompetence is something he’s being forced to do. YiFan is afraid he’ll leave if he reminds him that it’s not.
Jongin pushes YiFan down into a chair and wipes his tears away, fussing over the giant and working some styling product into his hair. YiFan loves Jongin, he really does, but Jongin isn’t his Alpha. YiFan doesn’t even like Jongin, not that way at least, and despite how nice it is to have someone like Jongin willing to fill the role - to a certain extent, anyway - it leaves him kind of sad. Jongin doesn’t waste a whole lot of time on words, and LuHan’s never felt the need to reassure YiFan on anything, so YiFan’s just left with the bitter emptiness of wanting something he’s sure he’ll never have.
LuHan is a Beta, and he’s into some of the kinkiest shit YiFan’s never even heard of. YiFan remembers the day he’d gone to LuHan’s room to ask to borrow his printer, and the door had been wide open. He’d stepped inside, concerned for his friend and following the grunting sound coming from the attached bathroom. At the time, YiFan had been so very certain that LuHan was in pain that he didn’t even stop to consider that it was a different kind of groan.
YiFan had pushed the bathroom door open and found LuHan plowing into some doe-eyed Freshmen all tied up in blue ropes and completely unable to move his own body as LuHan bent him over the sink. LuHan had shot YiFan a casual smirk before shifting his hips and turning slightly, still holding the poor boy tight to his chest, and the animalistic cry as the boy came across the mirror was nothing short of terrifying. LuHan waved a hand before bringing it down and squeezing at something, and YiFan’s eyes followed despite himself, and he nearly passed out when he saw the knot.
LuHan is not the type to blindly accept things the way they are, a stark contrast to YiFan who always takes things at face value and doesn’t try to change anything. LuHan had taken such perfect control that day in the bathroom that the Alpha had actually chosen to stick around, LuHan’s precious and possessive little pet, Kim Jongin.
It is also LuHan’s fault that most of the campus - really, anyone who YiFan meets in passing - believes YiFan is an Alpha. LuHan makes a point to make casual comments about YiFan’s dominating personality when in new company, and since YiFan is prone to sit quietly and let LuHan talk for him, they take his silence for confirmation. In short, it’s only ever Betas and Omegas coming for him, all wanting to be spread out and forced to submit to a ‘true Alpha.’
YiFan is ninety percent sure that, on a good day, he still hates LuHan’s guts.
“Take your pills and brush your teeth. Jonginnie and I will be in the hallway.” LuHan says, and YiFan blinks dumbly for a moment before LuHan starts shoving him. “I said go now!”
YiFan jumps out of his seat and stumbles into the bathroom, closing the door tightly behind himself and locking it just to be safe. He pulls out the bottle of suppressants and sighs quietly, trying to avoid looking in the mirror because his self-esteem just can’t take it right now, and he pours two pills out into his palm. He can’t help thinking that they aren’t supposed to look so small in the hands of an Omega.
YiFan has been on suppressants since he was eleven years old, when his doctor delivered the (for his parents, anyway) devastating news. His father had been completely up in arms, talking about what a failure he was as a parent before signing the consent form for the suppressant shot and storming out. YiFan hasn’t seen him since, but his mother made him keep getting the shots until he was eighteen, when he elected not to be stabbed anymore in favor of taking the pills. YiFan sighs as he swallows them, closing the bottle and putting it away before setting to work on his teeth. He works quickly, knowing LuHan’s patience can sometimes be about as thin as YiFan’s grandad’s hair, and in either case it’s not a pretty sight.
“You’re not going to cry again are you?” LuHan asks, raising a brow at YiFan as he stands in the doorway, looking more intimidating than he feels. YiFan has no control over his face, so he’s never sure what he’s telling people with it. LuHan claims he only really makes two faces anyway - one that makes him look like he’s out for blood, and one that makes him look like a kicked puppy. Apparently, the kicked puppy face is default.
“No.” YiFan says, but he’s not sure. He kind of feels like staying in and crying tonight, but LuHan will probably kick his ass if he admits that. YiFan loves LuHan, but he does get kind of tired of feeling like a punching bag.
“Babe, ease up a bit.” Jongin says, and LuHan rolls his eyes and starts walking down the hall.
“Come.” He says, and YiFan obeys like a well-trained dog.

YiFan stands in a swell of testosterone fueled Alpha’s and just tries not to be noticed. LuHan had introduced him to a handful of them before vanishing altogether, and YiFan feels kind of like he might be sick from the scent. YiFan lives in a mixed dorm because it’s cheaper, but there are no Alpha’s on his floor, so he’s not quite used to the smell.
The fact that these Alpha’s keep shoving drinks at him like they’re expecting him to hold his liquor like an Alpha really, really isn’t helping, but YiFan knows they’ll figure him out if he gets sick. YiFan thinks they might figure him out anyway, because he’s depressed and it’s not a good night for him to be putting on this act. Every sip of the beer they keep giving him makes him want to cry just a little bit more, and he hopes LuHan gets bored with this party soon so they can go home. YiFan knows better than to leave without permission.
YiFan finally manages to break away from the crowd and sits down, his neck and shoulders aching from all the time spent trying to be big when he’s always tried to make himself so small. His drink is mostly gone, and he wonders if he can get away with sneaking off to get something a little fruitier - something that actually tastes good - without being caught by someone he’s supposed to be pretending for.
He looks around, deciding it’ll be alright, and stands up to go to the bar. He loves open bars. They’re his favorite thing ever, and he can so easily pretend to be getting the drink for someone else, if they were to ask. Just to be safe, though, he orders a beer too, glancing over to where the Omega’s are all crowded together, looking tiny and cute - actually, there’s one in particular that makes YiFan want to venture into the crowd, but it’s not his business, and other Omega’s can sniff him out a mile away, suppressant or none. It’s safest to just stay away from them.
He takes the drinks when they’re offered to him and makes his way back through the crowd, passing maybe a little closer to the Omega’s than necessary, but he wants a closer look at the one with pink hair and he figures he’ll be mostly alright. He doesn’t plan for the sharp, overwhelming scent of Alpha that washes over him as he walks by, though, and even that is enough to give him a semi-chub in his too-tight jeans. That’s new.
YiFan looks away as the pink-haired Omega looks up, and he hurries back to his seat, surreptitiously taking a sip of his fruit-punch and vodka mixer before setting it down, wrapping his hands around the beer cup and trying to process what the fuck just happened. YiFan has been around god-knows how many Alphas in the last ten years and never before has he run into this issue. Sure, he has urges, and he’s watched his share of porn, but it has never hit him quite like this. He presses his thighs together nervously, his body tense, and when he feels the hand on the back of his neck he assumes it’s Jongin, because only an Alpha could have that kind of a grip, and Jongin is the only Alpha who would grab him like that.
“Is that beer for me, little one?” He hears whispered into the shell of his ear, and he whimpers before he can stop himself, that same overwhelming Alpha smell from before washing over him. He turns his head, not even sure what his face is doing anymore, and he looks at the man leaning down over him.
“W-what?” YiFan asks, his voice kind of choked as he catches sight of pink hair. There is no way, but as chubby cheeks give way to a bright, adorable smile, YiFan feels himself twitching just slightly. His teeth are small, and the upper left lateral incisor is shorter than the right - something YiFan would hardly be aware of if it weren’t for his parents being dentists - but his smile kind of leaves YiFan breathless.
“I asked if that beer was for me.” He says, and even his breath is alluring. YiFan is so far past screwed it isn’t even funny, and he nods dumbly, letting the Omega - Alpha - take the beer from his hands. “So what’s a cute little Omega like you doing hiding away, pretending to be an Alpha anyway?”
“W...well you were pretending to be an Omega.” YiFan practically whispers, stuck hard on the way the other keeps calling him little, and somehow, even with the heavy bass and all the people shouting around them, the Alpha hears him. YiFan leans in closer when he sees the other’s fingers crook, just once.
“I like watching them squirm.” He says, and YiFan shivers a little, leaning back in his seat and taking a sip of his drink. He’s doing his best to seem unaffected, but the Alpha is looking at him like he’s something to eat and YiFan isn’t sure but he kind of thinks he might like to be on this Alpha’s menu. “Let me walk you home.”
YiFan blinks, nodding a bit and starting to give himself a mental pep-talk because this can honestly only be going one way. He starts to stand up, but he’s drunker than he thought, and his knees threaten to buckle. The Alpha jumps up, wrapping an arm around YiFan’s waist and smiling a bit.
“Careful there, tough guy.” He teases, and YiFan’s cheeks turn pink. “Minseok, by the way.”
“Mins-oh!” YiFan catches on, his eyes kind of glazed out. “YiFan.”
“YiFan.” Minseok repeats, and YiFan knows he’s testing the weight of the name on his tongue. YiFan does it a lot, and he finds it’s not very heavy at all. “Well, YiFan. I’d like to buy you dinner tomorrow night.”
“You would? Why?” YiFan asks, and Minseok smiles, shaking his head and making sure YiFan gets home safely.

YiFan swallows two pills and stares himself down in the mirror, mentally berating himself because he knows he’s going to fuck this up, he just isn’t sure how, yet.
He’s wearing an outfit that had gotten both he and Jongin in trouble with LuHan, which simultaneously means it was a good pick for his date, but also a bad pick for his friendship. YiFan has never met such a possessive Beta in his life, and there’s guilt eating away at him even as he pulls on his shoes, waiting for the knock at the door.
Minseok is dressed down, but still nicely enough that YiFan’s throat goes a little dry. His breath catches a little bit, and he flinches the tiniest bit when Minseok takes his hand, but he doesn’t pull away. Minseok definitely, definitely notices, but he doesn’t say anything about it, and YiFan is grateful. He relaxes, as they walk, and he’s quiet, but Minseok doesn’t seem to mind.
Minseok leads him into a restaurant and they get a booth - YiFan thinks Minseok might be a mind reader, because YiFan hates tables, despite how big he is - and Minseok smiles as YiFan’s knees bump into his own. YiFan thinks he should apologize, maybe, but he’s too busy staring. He likes when Minseok smiles. It makes him want to lean closer.
“What are you gentlemen having to drink?”
YiFan looks up at the waitress, and he sees that she’s addressing him, not Minseok. YiFan panics a little bit, looking at Minseok like he’s going to magically produce an answer for him. Jongin usually orders for him, when they go out anywhere. It’s uncommon for Omegas to order for themselves when there’s an Alpha around, and YiFan’s shoulders slowly rise because Minseok still isn’t saying anything.
“Have you looked at our drink menu?” The waitress asks, all sass. She must be a Beta, YiFan is sure of it. He shakes his head, his eyes wide, and her eyes narrow.
“Strawberry soda.” Minseok finally speaks up. “And a cola. Thanks.”
The waitress gives Minseok a look before writing down the order and walking away, and YiFan feels like he can breath again. He looks at Minseok, trying to figure out what that was all about and why he waited so long, but Minseok just smiles at him again and YiFan melts, shy and embarrassed.
“Tell me about school.” Minseok says softly, coaxing YiFan into a topic that’s easy and doesn’t make him feel nauseous.
YiFan is utterly amazed as Minseok listens to all of his random babblings about how much he hates his Humanities class and how Creative Writing wasn’t anything like what he’d expected, but he’s kind of okay with that. YiFan slowly forgets that he’s awkward and oversized and when the waitress comes to take their order YiFan hasn’t even looked yet, but Minseok orders for him and tells him to just trust him and YiFan’s a little bit afraid suddenly, because he does.

A few weeks after Minseok and YiFan start seeing each other, LuHan gets into one of his moods, and Jongin isn’t there to hold him back. LuHan calls YiFan so many names that YiFan almost can’t keep up, and YiFan starts crying in the middle of the lecture hall, but he can’t leave because this is the only review they’ll get before the midterm. It’s his last class of the day, at least, and YiFan thinks maybe if he just stays quiet and tries to make himself small, LuHan will leave him alone for the rest of the day.
YiFan, of course, has no such luck.
YiFan doesn’t really expect LuHan to hit him, but he isn’t necessarily surprised by it either. It happens after class, when everyone else, teacher included, has left the room, and YiFan knows it’s just a slap, and not even that hard of one, but he’s shaking and his personality is turning into something smaller than he’s ever been able to make his body.
LuHan seems to come out of his daze, a little bit, here and YiFan stares at him with tears clinging to his eyelashes, waiting. He’s never completely certain of what he’s waiting for.
“Come on, Fan.” LuHan says softly, and the shift in demeanor is so strange and unexpected that YiFan hesitates. He realizes a moment later that that’s a bad idea, though, so he does as he’s told and packs up, jumping up and ready to go wherever LuHan thinks they should be. “I’ll bring you to your dorm. But I have math in 45 minutes.”
YiFan nods, going with LuHan and wringing his hands anxiously. YiFan’s never sure what in specific he does to piss LuHan off, but he thinks it might just be his existence. YiFan loves him a lot, but he’s never really been the type of person that LuHan prefers to waste his time on. YiFan feels like LuHan is trying to make a good deed out of YiFan, his special charity case. YiFan doesn’t feel especially like someone on the receiving end of charity most of the time, but he only has friends at all because of LuHan, so he doesn’t complain. He doesn’t think he has the right.
YiFan goes straight to his bed when LuHan drops him off, deciding he’d rather die for a few hours in a mountain of brightly colored plushies than keep thinking about all of these things that make him so sad, but just as he’s settling in to cry himself out, his phone rings.
YiFan considers ignoring the call, but in the end he can’t bring himself not to answer, so he swipes the screen without looking at the name and answers, his voice sniffly and thick. He’s honestly expecting LuHan to be on the line, ready to tell him to stop crying about it, but the worried voice that carries into his ear belongs to Minseok.
“What’s wrong, little one?” Minseok asks, his voice soft and affectionate, and YiFan kind of thinks actual death might be a nice alternative to him telling his maybe-boyfriend that he’s crying about something so stupid.
“Just had a bad day.” YiFan mumbles, nuzzling into his alpacasso quietly. Minseok hums.
“Are you at your dorm?” Minseok asks. “I’ll bring takeout over and we can watch a movie.”
YiFan seriously considers telling Minseok no, and that he’s fine. He’s used to dealing with his fucked up emotions on his own, but Minseok makes him feel better. And YiFan really, really wants to feel better right now.
“I’m in my room.” YiFan says softly.
“I’ll be there in just a little bit, pup.” Minseok promises him. “And if you’re still crying when I get there, that’s okay. I’ll take care of you.”
YiFan sets his phone down once they hang up and tries to think about a time when anyone’s ever been as nice to him as Minseok is. YiXing, his cousin, is a Beta with a really sweet temperament, but YiFan isn’t sure if YiXing would be so nice, were they not related. YiFan calls him, sometimes, when LuHan makes him hate himself a little too much.
YiFan doesn’t realize he’s fallen asleep until he wakes up to Minseok petting his hair. He opens his eyes and yawns sleepily, wondering how long Minseok has been there, but Minseok is just smiling at him, and it makes him feel kind of giddy.
“How was your nap?” Minseok asks, and YiFan stretches his too long limbs, bumping Minseok with an elbow in the process. Minseok lays down beside him, and YiFan doesn’t even think to be embarrassed about all the stuffed animals all over his bed. They make him happy, and Minseok doesn’t pick on him, or try to change him. “What happened today, hmm?”
YiFan hesitates, but Minseok doesn’t push, and so YiFan slowly tells him about LuHan’s outburst during Humanities. Minseok sighs, then hugs YiFan close and presses kisses along his hairline, and YiFan melts into him like it’s nothing. YiFan is glad it’s Friday, because neither he nor Minseok work during the school year, and he wants to ask Minseok to stay the night for the first time. He figures he understands the implication, and he’s okay with that. It means curling up with Minseok for the entire night, and that’s enough to make him smile.
YiFan finally sits up and eats with Minseok, and they watch a DVD on YiFan’s decrepit old laptop, and YiFan slowly, slowly, works up the nerve to ask Minseok to stay the night.
Minseok says yes so casually that YiFan isn’t entirely sure he hears right, but he smiles at Minseok and looks at him with soft eyes. Minseok smiles back, and somehow YiFan just knows that Minseok understands him. It’s a relief, not to have to explain himself all the time.

“Okay, so, they’re nice. Mostly. And you’ve already met LuHan and Jongin.” YiFan says, not sure if he’s trying to prep Minseok or himself more. He’s got a fair amount of friends, courtesy of LuHan, but he doesn’t know yet what makes Minseok like him. So he doesn’t know what could make him leave. “I think my cousin’s coming. He’s really great. You’ll like him.”
YiFan really, really doesn’t want him to leave.
“The only one you really need to watch out for is Baekhyun, because he’s kind of...” YiFan frowns a bit. “He’s really sassy. And kind of mean. But he doesn’t mean it that way. It’s just what comes out of his mouth sometimes.”
“YiFan. Calm down.” Minseok says, pulling YiFan into a little alley and squeezing his hand a little tighter. Minseok watches as YiFan takes a deep breath. “I’m not worried about your friends or what they’re going to think of me. You’re the only one that matters, in that respect.”
“I just don’t want anything bad to happen.” YiFan explains, looking down at the ground, and Minseok smiles a little bit, shaking his head.
“You’re absolutely precious, you know that right?” Minseok says, pushing himself up on his toes so he can reach YiFan’s lips. He always kisses YiFan like it’s the last time he’ll ever get to, and YiFan always melts into it with a tiny whimper and buckling knees. Minseok is the only thing that keeps him standing.
By the time Minseok pulls back, YiFan is pliant and has that look on his face that tells Minseok he’d rather curl up in his lap than go see his friends. YiFan likes when Minseok calls him little, and Minseok likes helping YiFan feel small, and all of those things are great, but YiFan’s been promising to produce Minseok for a few weeks now and always backs out at the last minute. Minseok kisses YiFan one more time, softly, sweetly, and then steps back.
“Your friends are waiting, little one.” Minseok says, and YiFan has to blink a few times to pull himself back out of whatever daze Minseok put him in. Minseok smiles, holding his hand out and waiting for YiFan to take it, and YiFan laces their fingers together without an ounce of hesitation. Minseok smiles and kisses YiFan’s hand as they walk to the cafe.
YiFan looks surprised by the amount of people when they finally walk in. He’d been anticipating a few, maybe four, but there are ten people sitting in a group, waiting for him to present this boyfriend they’ve been hearing about. Baekhyun catches his eye and raises a brow.
“Really breaking the mold, aren’t you, YiFan?” Baekhyun says, his tone teasing, and YiFan shrinks a little bit right away.
Baekhyun is an Alpha. A tiny, tiny Alpha who calls the shots with the only other giant Omega YiFan has ever met.
Chanyeol’s great, and he’s a good friend, but he’s adapted to his role much more easily than YiFan ever has. He doesn’t always understand why YiFan is crying, and he doesn’t always know what kind of advice to give. Chanyeol has always been comfortable in his oversized body, and he doesn’t understand why YiFan isn’t. Chanyeol’s parents didn’t mind at all when they discovered he was an Omega, and he was never forced to take suppressants. Baekhyun has gone into gross detail of Chanyeol’s heats more than once, and it makes YiFan squirm every single time. YiFan is still a virgin and no one lets him forget it.
LuHan looks up, his eyes landing on Minseok for a moment before smirking and leaning back in his seat, pulling Jongin closer. The Alpha curls into LuHan’s possessive hold, tucking his head under LuHan’s chin and settling down a bit.
“When has YiFan ever done anything outside of the box?” LuHan says, shaking his head and rubbing his fingers along Jongin’s spine. “He’s a good little Omega, taking his pills and doing as he’s told. He’s obedient, like a well trained dog.”
“LuHan.” Minseok’s voice is sharp, and it’s enough to make the Beta jump, even if only a little. He recovers his attitude quickly enough, though, and Minseok takes a seat, pulling YiFan into his lap. YiFan looks kind of like he wants to leave, but Minseok has his arms around YiFan’s waist, and YiFan really likes how warm he is.
“Is there something I can help you with, Princess?” LuHan asks, completely casual, and Minseok chuckles just a little bit, but it sounds dangerous and sends a shiver down YiFan’s spine. Minseok pulls YiFan’s head down against his shoulder, then rubs his neck, his fingers hitting the perfect spots to keep YiFan quiet and pliant in his lap.
“Yeah, funny enough, there is.” Minseok says, locking his eyes onto LuHan’s. LuHan hardens his gaze, but Minseok doesn’t let up. “You can stop abusing my boyfriend any time now, and it would be fantastic.”
“I’m not abusing him.” LuHan says, looking more than a little offended. He looks to YiFan, fully expecting him to agree, but YiFan’s face is hidden away in Minseok’s neck, and Minseok raises a brow as LuHan scowls.
“You sure make him cry a lot, for someone who’s not abusive.” Minseok says, and he’s rubbing YiFan’s hip now, too.
“He’s right, LuHan.” YiXing speaks up, though his voice is still soft. “You can be really mean sometimes. You make YiFan cry a lot.”
“Well maybe if he wasn’t so sensitive-” LuHan starts, and Minseok shakes his head, a warning clear in his eyes.
“No. You’re hard on him, and I don’t really care why, but it’s going to stop now. Or they’ll be sending the actual dogs to find you when you go missing from campus.” Minseok says, and LuHan narrows his eyes for a long moment before smirking.
“Fine.” LuHan says. “But if you dump him and he can’t take care of himself against someone who actually wants to hurt him, you’ll only have yourself to blame.”
Silence fills the room for a long moment, and Minseok’s hand continues working YiFan’s neck, so he can’t involve himself in the conversation. He’s grateful, though. Minseok is protecting him, and he knows it.
“You don’t have to worry about him.” Minseok finally says. “He puts up with your bullshit and still calls you a friend. I’m sure he’ll be fine, with or without me.”

YiFan clings to Minseok’s hand as they walk the fairgrounds, and despite the fact that every single person at every booth they go to - for games or food - immediately tries to speak to YiFan over Minseok, they’re still having fun. Minseok sets a fair amount of them in their place anyway, now that he realizes how much of a stressor it is on YiFan.
Minseok decides they’ve had enough of being stared at by random people in booths and he takes YiFan to the ferris wheel, holding out their tickets and summoning everything in him that screams Alpha right to the surface. The man taking the tickets visibly shrinks as he lets them on the ride, and YiFan feels guilt starting to eat away at his heart.
Minseok waits for YiFan to board the ride first, then slides in beside him and rubs YiFan’s leg gently, watching him and waiting. YiFan looks like he’s going to cry, and Minseok hasn’t seen that all too often. He’s never seen it as a result of something he’s done.
“Shh, little one, tell me what’s bothering you.” Minseok says softly, stroking YiFan’s hair. YiFan hesitates, and he looks vaguely afraid. It doesn’t take long for Minseok to find out why.
“You deserve someone better.” YiFan whispers. His lip is trembling, and he looks up at Minseok with tears in his eyes. “Everyone always thinks I’m an Alpha, and that you’re an Omega, and it’s not fair to you. That everyone thinks you’re less than you are. You should find someone who suits you better.”
“YiFan.” Minseok says softly, and a few tears slip down YiFan’s cheeks.
“It’s okay. You don’t need to worry about taking care of me.” YiFan says quietly. “I know I’m too big to be what you deserve. Trust me, I hate myself for it.”
“YiFan.” Minseok says sharply. YiFan jumps at his tone. They’re not far off the ground, but they’re high enough that the cart they’re in swings from the movement. Minseok stands, leaning over YiFan and crowding him into the corner. “Are you going to listen to me, now?”
“Y-yes.” YiFan says. He’s got himself squished as far as he can into the corner of the cart.
“You’re perfect, just the way you are.” Minseok says, pushing YiFan back a little bit and kissing him roughly. “You’re exactly what I want. Your physical body means nothing, little one. Your personality, and your rank, that’s what got my attention. Don’t you think I knew there would be confusion, when people look at us? Don’t you think I knew people wouldn’t take me any more seriously as an Alpha than they do you as an Omega? Do you really think I’m so blind to the world that I wouldn’t know all of that from the first second I saw you? I know exactly what I’m doing, pup.”
YiFan whimpers softly, because as Minseok is saying all of this, his hands are busy massaging YiFan through his jeans. YiFan is hard by the time Minseok pauses to look him in the eye.
“It’s because of who you are, not your body, that I love you.” Minseok says. YiFan’s eyes go round for a moment, and his mouth drops open as Minseok opens his jeans. YiFan considers protesting, but this is what he wants. He wants Minseok to take control and put him in his place when he’s being irrational and if that involves Minseok pulling him out of his pants in public, YiFan doesn’t really mind. “So don’t worry about it. I’ve always found it funny, that people think I’m an Omega. It doesn’t make me less of a person, and it certainly doesn’t make you less of a person for actually being an Omega, either.”
“M-Minnie-” YiFan stutters. Minseok already has his hand wrapped around YiFan’s length, and he’s pulling, his grip just tight enough to have YiFan lifting his hips, wanting more than he has.
Minseok is close to him, nipping his ear and whispering filthy things that have YiFan squirming and holding onto the bench beneath him. Minseok doesn’t stop pushing into YiFan’s space either, his thumb dragging over YiFan’s slit as he licks his way into YiFan’s mouth. YiFan’s pretty mindless, not used to being touched, nevermind so aggressively. He makes the most pathetic sounds as Minseok pushes him right to the edge before suddenly breaking away from the kiss.
YiFan’s not even sure the sound he makes is human as Minseok wraps his lips around the head of his cock. YiFan’s head crashes back against the metal caging around him as he cums, shooting into Minseok’s mouth and whimpering as he rides the high. Minseok puts him back into his pants in the meantime, and then pulls YiFan into his lap. YiFan nuzzles into Minseok’s neck, holding onto his shirt quietly.
“The only person worried about our sizes is you.” Minseok explains quietly. “And there’s no reason for it, because I’ll take care of you.”
“Did you mean it? That you love me?” YiFan asks, his voice shaking nervously. Minseok laughs, nodding gently.
“Of course I do. I wouldn’t lie to you.” Minseok says, kissing YiFan’s cheek softly. YiFan sniffs a little and curls closer.
“I love you, too.” He whispers, his voice barely there. Minseok can’t help but smile, petting his hair gently.
“I know, little one.” Minseok whispers.
When the ride stops Minseok leads him out to play some games. YiFan waits for Minseok to give him the okay before launching the rings and darts, and Minseok lets him play until he realizes he’s not winning anything. Minseok steps forward, guiding YiFan’s hand rather than just letting him play. Minseok knows that YiFan’s good at basketball, but he’s still a little shaky and emotional from the ride. Minseok makes sure to win YiFan as many stuffed animals as he can before they go home.

YiFan looks like he’s about to burst from the anxiety running through his veins when Minseok pulls up to the dorm. They had signed the lease on a new apartment just a few days ago, and YiFan’s been panic-packing every day since. Minseok had, once again, urged YiFan to just trust him, and so YiFan is going into this apartment without having seen it.
Minseok assures YiFan on the way over that mostly everything is moved in and set up - it’s just the little things in the trunk that they still need to bring inside. YiFan isn’t sure how he feels about all of this quite yet, but Minseok has just been hired for a high paying position at the accounting firm in downtown, whereas YiFan has taken a job as a barista at a cafe just a few blocks from their new home. YiFan is a nervous wreck.
“Breath, pup.” Minseok says, and YiFan looks at Minseok sheepishly.
“What did your boss say when he saw you?” YiFan asks suddenly. He doesn’t want to focus on his anxiety. “Did he ask where your Alpha was and offer to get you a Beta-run taxi?”
“Yes. Totally.” Minseok says, snorting.
“It’s those cute cheeks.” YiFan teases. “Or maybe your ass.”
“Both.” Minseok agrees, nodding seriously.
“Ah, makes sense.” YiFan says. “Better than the time that Alpha was asking about your heat cycle. He wanted your ass so bad.”
“I know.” Minseok whines. They can’t help but laugh as they pull up to the parking lot outside their new apartment. “But I’m more into giving my knot, than taking someone else's.”
“Oh.” YiFan says, a little shiver running down his spine. Minseok chuckles, leaning over and kissing just behind YiFan’s ear.
“The house is all set up. I promise. You can go straight in and sit down if you want to.” Minseok says, pressing a key into YiFan’s hand.
YiFan swallows and nods, taking note of the very plain looking outside of the building and hoping the inside isn’t as boring. YiFan’s tired of the same boxy architecture of the dorms. Minseok hands YiFan his laptop bag - Minseok had finally worn YiFan down enough to buy him a new laptop a few months prior when the old one literally caught fire while he was writing a term paper - and shoos him inside.
YiFan unlocks the door and steps inside, and he nearly drops the laptop bag. The ceilings are so high that YiFan feels small, having to tilt his head all the way back to look up, and the whole floor plan is wide open. There are only a few walls, and the doorways leading between them are wide and arched, no actual doors blocking one room from the next. YiFan steps through the entryway, leaving his shoes at the door and sliding his feet into soft slippers as he makes his way into the kitchen.
YiFan sets the laptop bag on the table and walks around the kitchen island - he’s always wanted one - checking that he actually can fit in this space without feeling like he’s being crushed. Minseok is following behind him, watching him touch everything as he goes from the kitchen to the dining room, then into the bathroom to check the shower height - but the shower is tiny.
“Seok?” YiFan says quietly, and Minseok rubs his back.
“This is the guest bathroom.” Minseok says. “Our bathroom is attached to our room.”
“Why do we have a guest bathroom?” YiFan asks, blinking as he turns to look at Minseok. Minseok smiles.
“Because we got a two bedroom apartment.” Minseok explains, and YiFan’s eyes widen slightly in a panic. Minseok knows exactly where YiFan’s thoughts are headed, and he cuts him off before he can really work himself up. “It’s an office. For your writing, and days when I can work from home. Don’t worry, little one. We don’t need little feet running around just yet.”
YiFan lets out a relieved sigh and kisses Minseok’s cheek, and Minseok laces their fingers and leads him to the office. He wants to show YiFan the two desks and lack of baby supplies, to help calm him a little more before they get to the real surprise. He shows YiFan the living room, with the huge couch, before leading him into their bedroom.
YiFan looks like he’s falling in love all over again when he sees the setup. The bed dominates the middle of the bedroom, steps leading up to the raised platform, but the bed itself isn’t very big at all. It’s long enough for YiFan, but it’s intimate enough that they’ll still be tangled at night - exactly the way they like to be. There are matching dressers on either side of the bed, along with matching end tables, and everything is a nice dark wood.
“I’ll show you the bathroom, and then there’s something I want to do.” Minseok says, and YiFan nods, his hands curling around Minseok’s arm.
The bathroom is amazing. The shower is standalone, tall enough for YiFan to feel comfortable standing while being wide enough that he isn’t worried about his arms. There’s a separate jacuzzi bath across from the double vanity. YiFan is amazed by how much space there is, and he can’t help but laugh when he notices the toilet is more or less stuffed in the closet. He thinks it’s perfect, because if one of them has to poop while the other is getting ready, it’s much closer than the other bathroom.
Yifan spins around and throws his arms around Minseok’s neck, nuzzling into his hair and hugging a little tighter as Minseok’s arms come around his waist. Minseok laughs and rubs all the tense spots in YiFan’s back, and YiFan makes adorable little noises that make Minseok want to eat him up.
“We can get your plushies set up on the bed a little later, if you want.” Minseok says, and YiFan nods, still clinging and cuddling. “Come with me, pup. I want to take care of you for a little bit.”
“You always take care of me.” YiFan says softly, but he goes with Minseok easily when the elder starts tugging him back toward the bedroom.
When YiFan finds himself pinned under Minseok’s body, the other kissing him like he’s trying to mark his lips, he thinks he understands what Minseok has been hinting at. Breaking in the new apartment and leaving their mark does sound kind of fun, but Minseok pulls back after a few long seconds and kisses YiFan’s nose.
“You need to tell me right away if you want me to stop. Can you do that for me, little one?” Minseok asks softly. YiFan looks confused, but he nods anyway, and Minseok goes to the dresser closer to the door - the side that Minseok will absolutely, no questions asked, be sleeping on. He comes back a moment later with some soft looking red rope, and YiFan has a flashback to LuHan’s bathroom sophomore year. He swallows. “Don’t be afraid. I’m going to take care of you. I would never hurt you.”
YiFan nods, and Minseok steps closer, carefully starting to weave the rope all around and through YiFan’s limbs. It isn’t until YiFan’s wrists are completely tied that he realizes his clothes are still on, and it’s a weird comfort. He slowly closes his eyes, feeling the ropes slide over his skin and pull all his limbs closer to his body and oh. He feels small, for once, and smaller still as Minseok keeps on going.
YiFan isn’t sure, but he thinks maybe it’s been a few hours since they started. He chances a glance at the clock to be certain, but the numbers don’t make sense, so he just closes his eyes again and breathes, sucking his lower lip into his mouth. Minseok carefully slides into the bed behind him and kisses the back of his head. YiFan feels so relaxed and safe he isn’t even sure there are words for it.
Minseok has taken away his ability to move his body completely, some of the knots pressing into places known for making Omegas pliant and obedient. YiFan’s breaths are slow and deep as he lays there, realizing that he doesn’t have to make any choices. He can’t even choose to move his arms. He’s completely, 100% at Minseok’s mercy. YiFan is grateful Minseok is so merciful.
“I did some research, because I know moving puts a lot of stress on Omegas and I didn’t want you getting sick. A lot of taller Omegas said that doing things like this really helped.” Minseok explains softly, and YiFan lets out a little breath. He feels like he’s a million miles away, like he’s been stuffed into the most comfortable place that ever existed, and he never wants to leave. Minseok kisses behind his ear softly. “You look so cute when you make that face.”
YiFan tries to conjure up a mental image of what exactly his face might be doing, but nothing comes to mind. Minseok smiles softly and picks up his phone, turning on the camera. YiFan doesn’t mind that Minseok takes pictures of him. In fact, it makes him feel special, because YiFan’s always thought that people took pictures of things they were afraid of forgetting. YiFan’s never met someone who wanted to remember him so badly.

YiFan is in his fourth hour of work when Minseok shows up. He walks right up to the counter, ignoring everyone else in the cafe, and asks YiFan to make him an Americano. YiFan nearly falls over himself in his excitement. Minseok always orders an Americano when he’s planning to stay and have lunch with YiFan.
YiFan brings the drink up and YiXing has already taken over the cash register. Minseok’s smile tells YiFan that it’s going to be a good day, and Minseok leans over the counter to kiss him before waving down YiFan’s boss.
Key is a Beta with more sass written into his bones than even Baekhyun. He’s fun, though, and he never makes YiFan feel like crying. He’s very motherly in some ways, and he makes being at work feel like much less of a chore. YiFan can’t count how many times Key has chased away unwelcome Alphas and there even less welcome advances, now that YiFan’s stopped trying to hide his nature.
“I’m going to take YiFan on his lunch now.” Minseok tells Key, and Key nods easily. “I’ll have him back in an hour.”
“Alright. Just don’t get him pregnant before the after school rush.” Key says, winking. YiFan blushes bright red and lightly swats at the manager, but Key dodges and shoos YiFan out the door.
YiFan eagerly laces his fingers with Minseok’s, too excited to really stop and consider how unusual it was for them to eat lunch anywhere but the cafe. YiFan trusts Minseok with a lot more than his life, at this point, though, and he goes with Minseok easily.
Minseok picks a cute little restaurant hidden between two shops. It’s not overly busy, but busy enough that YiFan knows their conversation will be private. YiFan tries not to worry, but there’s a sudden sinking feeling in his belly. Minseok notices immediately and instead of sitting across from YiFan like he normally does, he crowds YiFan into the bench and sits beside him, so he doesn’t have to let go of his hand.
“What’s the matter, pup?” Minseok asks softly, and YiFan bites his lip.
“You want to talk to me about something.” YiFan says, remembering Minseok pulling this exact maneuver when he’d decided to ask YiFan to live with him after graduation. “Something you don’t know how I’ll react to.”
“You’re a little too smart to be working in a cafe, little one.” Minseok says softly.
YiFan sighs a little bit, his lower lip jutting out for a moment before being sucked into his mouth entirely. Minseok gently slides a menu in front of YiFan and waits patiently for him to decide what he wants. Minseok orders for him, rubbing YiFan’s thigh gently as the anticipation makes YiFan feel like hiding. YiFan doesn’t cry nearly as much as he used to. Being with Minseok for the last three years has done incredible things for his self esteem, especially since moving in together two years ago. YiFan hopes Minseok doesn’t want to give up their apartment or something. He really loves where they live.
YiFan jumps a little when the plate is set in front of him, pulling out of his daze and blinking a few times before saying a soft and sincere thank you. Minseok smiles, waiting for him to eat a bite and make sure it’s worth eating before taking a bite of his own. A few minutes into the meal, Minseok finally speaks up.
“YiFannie, I’m not sure how to say this, so I’ll just say it honestly.” Minseok says, and YiFan swallows the bite in his mouth. Minseok looks at him with soft affection in his eyes, and YiFan remembers that Minseok loves him, and wouldn’t do anything to hurt him. Even if this conversation is as serious as it feels, Minseok will make everything okay. “I want you to stop taking your suppressants.”
YiFan hears Minseok, but he doesn’t really feel like he does. He’s always known this conversation was going to come up eventually, but for some reason he still feels unprepared. He’s only been taking the suppressants because his parents want him to. If YiFans being honest though, he hasn’t even spoken to his mother since he moved in with Minseok.
“YiFan?” Minseok says softly. YiFan swallows again, looking at him. Minseok understands, because Minseok always understands, and he holds YiFan’s hand. “I’ve noticed some things...and I’ve done my research. I’m worried that if you stay on the suppressants much longer there will be some permanent side effects.”
“Noticed...what kinds of things?” YiFan asks softly, because as aware of his body as he is, he’s not terribly aware of himself.
“You’ve been getting sick lately, right along with the moon cycle. Every new moon, you get headaches and want to lay in bed for a few days. You’ve been fighting nature for so long that your body is looking for an outlet.” Minseok says softly. “And...you’ve just seemed more down lately. Not depressed, exactly, but you don’t really seem like you want to leave the house unless it’s to go to work. I used to have to wait for you because you liked talking to Key and YiXing so much, but the last few months you’ve been waiting for me, even when I leave work early.”
“I’m sorry.” YiFan said, jumping right to blaming himself, but Minseok shook his head.
“Don’t be sorry, pup. I’m just...explaining where I’m coming from. I’m worried about you.” Minseok explains. “Suppressants aren’t supposed to be taken for as long as you’ve been on them. You’re nearly 25. Fourteen years is almost unheard of, and I just...I don’t want you to do real damage to yourself.”
“Real damage?” YiFan echoes softly.
“In...in some cases of extended use, there have been reports of infertility.” Minseok explains softly, and YiFan’s eyes widen, a slight panic taking hold. Minseok moves closer, shaking his head. “No no no no no, shh, don’t do that.”
YiFan’s got tears in his eyes, and Minseok takes both of his hands gently in his own, kissing his palms softly. They’ve been discussing children recently - not seriously enough for YiFan to stop his pills yet, but seriously enough to know that they both very, very much want to have a family together. The idea of YiFan’s fear permanently removing that as an option makes his gut twist painfully, and Minseok easily hooks his fingers around the back of YiFan’s neck, pulling him closer.
“Don’t cry, pup. It’s okay.” Minseok whispers. “I’ll make you a doctor’s appointment, if you want. We can make sure, but you don’t have those symptoms.”
“I want to make sure.” YiFan whispers against Minseok’s neck.
“I’ll make the appointment.” Minseok whispers, rubbing his back gently. “It’ll be okay.”

The doctors visit quiets all of YiFan’s fears, and he hands over the bottle of suppressants without an ounce of hesitation. YiFan’s always been willing to listen to what Minseok wants him to do, and if Minseok thinks it’ll keep him healthier and safer to stop taking them, then he’ll stop.
YiFan fully expects to go into heat on the next new moon, but he gets a headache instead and sleeps it off so he can go to work the next morning. Minseok doesn’t seem to find it strange, however, and tells YiFan it’s normal to miss a few heat cycles when coming off of suppressants. It works out just fine anyway, because it gives them time to talk about how they want to handle YiFan’s first heat.
Minseok informs YiFan he’ll be taking time off from work to get him through it before YiFan can work up the courage to ask him to stay home. It takes a little longer for them to decide they’re not going to try to avoid pregnancy, but by the time they do YiFan is more relieved than he’d thought he’d be. YiFan’s never really felt ready for kids, but he thinks it’ll come naturally. And if it doesn’t, he trusts Minseok to help him anyway, so he’s still comfortable with the whole idea.

YiFan’s first heat hits him four months after he stops taking the suppressant. Since he’s never gone into heat before he doesn’t recognize the early signs, and he chalks it up to catching a cold. He gets up and gets dressed for work, feeling a little sweaty but overall mostly normal. Minseok is already gone, having gone in early for a meeting, so YiFan just makes himself some toast and drinks a few glasses of ice water before heading to work.
He’s nearly two hours into his shift when the first excessive strangeness of the day takes place. There’s an Alpha, a regular at the cafe, who knows Minseok and YiFan are together that is suddenly very insistent on having YiFan’s attention. YiFan doesn’t understand it at all, and he starts sending YiXing to take care of him because he’s making YiFan distinctly uncomfortable.
It’s about half an hour later that YiXing catches YiFan fanning himself with one of the carry-out boxes, his hair starting to wilt from the sweat. At first YiXing doesn’t think anything of it, but it slowly dawns on him what’s going on with his favorite cousin, and YiXing makes a point of switching stations with him so no more Alphas can leer.
YiFan is three hours into his shift when Key figures out what’s going on. Betas aren’t designed to sniff out heats like Alphas, but YiFan’s face is all red and he’s shaking badly enough that Key’s actually kind of worried. YiFan’s never put in for a heat leave before, and Key’s always assumed he has mild heats that just don’t affect him, but this one seems to be quite a different story.
“Rough morning?” Key asks casually, smiling a little bit to himself. “Looks like Minseok should have been a little more thorough with you.”
“Thorough?” YiFan asks. His throat is so dry it hurts to talk, and he’s kind of upset. It’s been a while since he cried, but he can feel the tears threatening his eyes today.
“You know, to break the heat cycle. I always pegged you for a one-and-done kinda guy.” Key explains, and YiFan is so confused he doesn’t even know what to say. His head hurts, and nothing Key is saying makes any sort of sense.
“O-okay.” YiFan says, moving to make an iced Americano, but he drops the cup, his hands too sweaty to hold onto anything. His lip trembles as he stares at the mess, and he’s just so frustrated he doesn’t know what to do. Key stands to the side, watching with a curious expression as YiFan starts sweeping the shards up, tears slipping out of his eyes without his permission. “I-I think I’m getting sick.”
“Sick?” Key echoes, his confusion doubling. “I thought you were in heat, with the way all those Alphas have been at you today.”
YiFan freezes in an instant, and YiXing looks up at him just as he feels the first drip between his legs. Everything falls into place much faster than he can keep up with, and he sniffs, holding onto the broom handle tighter.
“Heat.” YiFan whispers, and YiXing remembers, suddenly, the way his aunt had forced YiFan to take suppressants his whole life.
“Key, go call Minseok.” YiXing says, pulling the rolling chair out of the office and tucking it into a corner, out of sight. He pulls YiFan over to it and makes him sit down, getting a piece of ice and pushing it into YiFan’s mouth to try to help cool him down until Minseok shows up. YiFan makes a rather embarrassing noise and tries to curl in on himself, but he’s hyper aware of the way his clothing is sliding on his body suddenly. He thinks he might be dying.
By the time Minseok actually gets to the cafe YiFan’s pants are sticking to him a little bit and he’s kind of scared. YiXing actually threw out two teenage Alphas who tried to figure out where the smell was coming from, and after that Key had locked the doors.
Minseok makes a point of scenting on YiFan before leading him out to the car, thanking Key and YiXing as he and YiFan leave. He tucks YiFan into the passenger seat with a jacket thrown over his lower half, and then speeds home.

YiFan’s first heat takes an unheard of six days to break, and then two days for recovery. Minseok nearly brings him to the hospital in the middle of it all, because YiFan gets sick if Minseok doesn’t touch him for too long, but YiFan begs him to just stay home. Minseok almost always listens to his own better judgement, but just this once he decides to listen to YiFan and slides his knot into him for god-knows-what time.
“It’s okay little one. It’s alright. It’s just your body adjusting.” Minseok whispers into YiFan’s ear as YiFan spills weakly over Minseok’s fist. YiFan’s been having a lot of dry orgasms because his body just can’t keep up, and he’s getting stomach cramps from everything. Minseok’s never helped an Omega through a heat before, but he doesn’t understand what the other Alphas around him have been talking about. There’s nothing sexy about how much pain YiFan is in.
“Minnie..” YiFan whispers tiredly, his voice scratchy and rough.
“I’m here, pup. I’m right here.” Minseok whispers into YiFan’s ear, and YiFan starts crying.
There are knocks at the door, missed phone calls, and worried friends by the time Minseok feels okay with leaving YiFan alone long enough to go to the next room to call his boss - and YiFan’s doctor - to let them know what’s going on. He takes a moment to post something on facebook, saying in vague terms that YiFan’s first heat is not going well at all and that he’ll update when he’s more sure of what’s happening.
Minseok does something he’s never considered doing before and starts taking pictures of YiFan every time his heat dies down enough for Minseok to move away. He takes pictures of YiFan all the time, and that isn’t so strange in and of itself, but to take photos during such an intimate time is unusual. Minseok wants to show the pictures to YiFan’s doctor, because he knows YiFan wouldn’t be hurting so badly had he not been on the suppressants for so long.
Minseok quietly promises YiFan that if they have Omega children, he will never force them to take suppressants, and YiFan cries some more.

YiFan returns to work looking like he’s been hit by a train, and Key seriously considers sending him home. YiFan doesn’t want to go, though, and Key works out an agreement to keep him doing light work until he’s feeling back to normal.
Minseok shows up to eat lunch with him every day, and YiXing and Key can see the way Minseok is watching YiFan. Minseok is ready to drop everything in an instant, if he even thinks YiFan might need him.
YiFan needs Minseok a lot lately.

“We have a holiday party coming up at my company.” Minseok says softly, petting YiFan’s hair as YiFan curls into his side. “This Friday. Do you think you’ll be up to going?”
YiFan looks up at Minseok, then nods and cuddles closer. It’s been more than a month since his last heat, and aside from weird off-and-on headaches, nothing has happened. He hasn’t even had another heat, which is worrying both Minseok and YiFan because of just how intense his last one had been.
“Yeah. I have my doctors appointment in the morning, but after that I’m free all day.” YiFan says softly, and Minseok kisses his lips softly.
“Do you want me to bring you?” Minseok asks, and YiFan looks at Minseok.
YiFan still feels small when Minseok wraps his arms around him, and YiFan still feels loved with every breath he breathes around Minseok. YiFan’s never felt so perfectly happy in his life, than when he’s with Minseok.
“No.” YiFan says softly, kissing Minseok softly and then tucking his head under the other’s chin. “You taught me how to be brave. I’ll tell you how it goes after.”
“Alright.” Minseok says, and he looks proud. YiFan smiles, letting Minseok scoop him closer and curling up as small as he can in Minseok’s arms.
YiFan doesn’t want to tell Minseok yet, but he had taken a home pregnancy test that morning, and it came out with a faint positive. He wants to know for sure before he tells him.

“YiFan.” Minseok calls, standing not far from the door. YiFan’s been avoiding Minseok’s calls since he left the doctor’s office, but he’d sent a text as he left saying everything was fine and he was going home to nap.
YiFan’s never lied to Minseok before, but he needed some time to himself after his appointment. He needed time to figure out how to break the news.
“Minnie.” YiFan says softly, and Minseok reaches him before he has time to walk over. Minseok kisses his cheek softly, and YiFan leans down to nuzzle into his hair. “Missed you.”
“Did you have a good nap, pup?” Minseok asks, and YiFan freezes up a little bit because he doesn’t want to lie anymore.
“Actually..” YiFan starts, but a couple of Minseok’s coworkers come over and he trails off.
“I told you he was an Omega.” One of them says, holding a hand out to YiFan. “It’s nice to meet Minseok’s Alpha, finally.”
YiFan blinks, looking at the man’s hand for a moment before grinning, shooting Minseok a playful look, and shaking the man’s hand.
“He tries to tell people he’s an Alpha, but no one believes him. You should probably get him in line.” The other coworker says, also reaching for YiFan’s hand and shaking it.
“YiFan, this is Donghae and Minho.” Minseok says, then mouths ‘Betas’ so YiFan understands why they can’t seem to smell the difference.
“I see.” YiFan says, casually throwing an arm around Minseok’s shoulders and pulling him close. “Yeah, some Omegas are a little one the wild side. He likes to think he’s in control.”
Minho laughs, then nods and shoots Minseok a look that lets both YiFan and Minseok know he thinks he’s smart. YiFan snorts, kissing Minseok’s temple softly, and Minseok makes a show of turning into YiFan and hiding his face. No one else knows how hard he’s laughing.
YiFan used to hate pretending to be an Alpha. Now it’s become something of a game when meeting new Betas, and he and Minseok always get a good laugh out of it later. Donghae grins, poking Minseok’s side playfully.
“Aww, look at how cute he is. All snuggled up to his boyfriend.” Donghae teases, and Minseok carefully leans back from YiFan, once his face is under control. His face is serious, suddenly, and YiFan’s eyebrows pull together because Minseok doesn’t usually get upset over things like this.
“He’s not my boyfriend.” Minseok says, his tone firm. YiFan locks up for a moment, but Minseok continues before YiFan has a chance to panic. “He’s my mate.”
The word mate is something used so rarely that YiFan nearly falls over. Mates are a perfect, undeniable match. Loads of Alphas and Omegas fall in love and get married, but they’re very rarely true mates. The only honest to god way to tell if you’re mated to someone is through spending a heat together.
Only true mates can get pregnant on the first heat, and oh.
“You already know?” YiFan whispers suddenly, and Minseok smiles softly.
