Yay, this! I genuinely hate CNY (yes, it's hate, not just dislike). I especially feel you on points 4-7 and 9-10. Even now, I somehow pick really hideous festive clothes, so that I have another reason to hate the season more. This year, CNY rankles even more because (1) I still have to give away money, even though I'm scrimping and saving on myself due to unemployment (2) the public holidays mean nothing, again due to me not being gainfully employed anyway.
All the best with surviving the next awful few days, and cooking that massive family meal!

YAY I love that I'm not the only grouch around. Good luck to getting through the next few days too - at least it's only once a year!

Hi! I come across your blog from Olimomok and gosh, I almost went through the exact same things as you did during CNY. Endless baking at home, didn't get to spend a single cent from my ang paos (till I was in JC), visiting relatives who keep comparing exam results. Best CNY was last year, where I could just say I need to take off cos the baby's tired. Heh.

OMG someone else who had to bake all the time too! And who never got to spend angpao money! We need to become friends. I am adding you! :)

Haha, I enjoyed reading this! I don't like CNY very much either, even though it was never a big occasion in my family and I never had to bake cookies in my childhood! Hope it will be a quiet one this year - I'm looking forward to the long weekend (and maybe a chance to sneak out for a movie) more than anything!

I would love to have a quiet CNY, although sadly I think that will only happen if there is a death in the family, which really is NOT what I want. So I guess I'll put up with all the noise and crowding, and just count my blessings that everyone is happy and well.
