I'll fight for that title XD
Written back and forth by
languishindecay and myself.
Um, Whore!verse, maybe? Sort of? Just check it out.
And check out how awesome it looks.
Yeah, we have that much free time.
How it all started:
languishindecayoh shige, ilu and so does ryo, make more trouble in ryo's life :) (just not so much that ryo gets kicked out of johnny's, i guess??? idk.)
yey_yeyShige would feel so guilty if he got Ryo kicked out XD
And then Ryo would invite himself to move in with Shige and he'd complain about it being cramped all the time. And leave dirty dishes in the sink.
languishindecayOMG, lol, i could totally see that happen
and then Ryo would demand Shige move to a (at least marginally) better apartment and use some of the money he has left to get one (a slightly larger, single bedroom apartment with too tiny of a living room space for anyone to sleep in because Ryo's guitars and other stuff clutter every corner of the apartment), and make Shige move with him, saying "I can't take care of myself now that I don't have a job, I don't know what to do with my life anymore AKA: You got me kicked out, YOU'RE MY SLAVE FOR LIFE, MWAHAHA
And how it never stopped (at least for a long time):
yey_yeya slightly larger, single bedroom apartment with too tiny of a living room space for anyone to sleep in because Ryo's guitars and other stuff clutter every corner of the apartment
LOL Ryo's genius tactic for getting Shige and him to share a room XD
Shige's standing in what will soon be his former living room, surrounded by boxes, "Tell me again why I'm moving with you?"
Ryo's in the doorway, glaring, "Because you. Got. Me. Fired. I refuse to live here any longer. And I refuse to let you off the hook."
"Your parents didn't raise you to be very selfless, did they?"
Ryo's still glaring, "You're ass is mine, Katou."
"Oh no, you didn't!"
languishindecay "My parents raised me just fine, thanks. I wonder about your parents though... raising a son who gets a helpless guy fired from the only job he knows and has... What will I do now, Katou? I quit high school for this job, you know..." Ryo trails off, eyes full of crocodile tears.
"R-Ryo-chan, don't cry... I-I'll move in with you... I guess...." 'OHSHIT WHAT HAVE I GOT MYSELF INTO,' Shige panics.
Cackling madly in his head, Ryo has a total personality change, "You will? Good. Now move your crap."
And thus, the new apartment comes to be.
yey_yeyRyo doesn't have to tell Shige that he's in no rush to get a job - Shige figures it out on his own. Ryo sits in the living room on the couch, playing the guitar and talking on his phone all day. Shige does all the cleaning and cooking, on top of his schoolwork and part-time job with Nakagawa. Every night, he tries to have a talk about money with Ryo, but it never goes the way he wants.
"We're fine."
"You don't have a job!"
"We're fine."
"Ryo-chan! We can't keep up this life style!"
"Do you even know how much I was worth? How much I'm still worth?"
Shige honestly doesn't know.
Ryo grins, "More than we could spend in a life time.... Let's go to Hawaii next week."
Shige's not entirely sure he'll be able to say 'no' to that idea.
And then Ryo gives him bedroom eyes.
languishindecay At this point, Shige can't say no to that idea.
Shige sometimes wonders if Ryo ever sees his friends anymore; he certainly hasn't seen them. But then again, Shige is usually at school all day and taking care of Ryo takes up all his free time.
One day he brings this up to Ryo.
"So... Do you ever hang out with your friends?" Shige somewhat off-handedly asks, putting a tea kettle on the stove and walking towards the cluttered living room.
Ryo looks up from his book of guitar tabs, glaring slightly. "What, do you want me gone or something? Are you planning on having an affair? This is my fucking apartment, you know; you could at least have the decency to have your shitty affair elsewhere."
Shige wants to say, 'whose fault is it that I live here?' and 'you use the word affair in cases of adulterous spouses' but instead shakes his head hurriedly, "No, no, no affair--it's just that whenever I'm here, you're here; your friends never come here, so I was just wondering..."
"What I do while you're being a boring nerd, studying and doing school work?"
"...Kind of, yeah. But not exactly worded like that."
"No need to worry your studious little head, Shige-chan♥, I'm keeping myself out of trouble. If you really want, though, you can skip school and stay the entire day with me tomorrow~"
"That's okay, really. I just wanted to make sure you weren't exiled from the general public, or anything."
Ryo almost laughs. "It's not like I'm exiled; I go grocery shopping with you, don't I? And you follow me around on the weekends, you know I go out."
"But not with your friends--"
"--when I'm with you. I see them plenty, don't worry. I just don't want them to know where I live, that's all."
"Oh."
The conversation ends there, with Shige scrambling to answer the whistling of the kettle.
yey_yeyIt's saturday night and they're curled up on the couch watching a horror movie. Shige's keeping track of all the ways the characters could have beaten the serial killer already. Ryo just enjoys watching screaming teenagers get killed ("That's gross, Ryo-chan!" "You've never been an idol. You could never understand.").
The lead teenager - a thick-necked guy who talks slowly - is rallying the other teenagers into self-defense and ultimately offing the serial killer. Everyone's with him and they arm themselves - axes, baseball bats, crowbars. As a group, they're about to open the door to the safe-room they're in and hunt down the serial killer, when he busts through an air vent in the room and starts slitting throats.
Shige and Ryo both scream and jump in their seats, but once Shige has calmed down, he starts laughing.
"What?! That was terrifying!"
Shige has to take several deeps breaths, "You.. you... shrieked. I think your voice cracked!"
Ryo turns red, "I did not! That was you!"
Shige pats Ryo on the back, "It's okay. I won't judge you. Just know, you scream like a girl."
Ryo huffs and scoots away from Shige. He doesn't say anything.
"Oh, oh..." Shige thinks that maybe he shouldn't have said anything, "Ryo-chan, it's... um, it's not a big deal you know. I still think you're very manly."
Ryo is watching the movie.
"Ryo-chan..."
"If I wasn't the man in this relationship, I'd make you sleep on the couch."
Shige chokes, "The man in the relationship! I'm one too! And besides," he starts blushing, "we... we haven't done... that... yet. So, um..."
Ryo doesn't say anything, but he almost laughs. He takes some comfort in the fact that, even though they hadn't had sex yet, he could claim the title of "Wearer of Pants".
languishindecay Shige's mom is in love with Ryo.
So is his dad. Kind of. (Not really.)
In a fit of madness (or as Ryo fondly called it, "crazy no-sleep nerd days"), homesickness and lack of sleep, Shige takes Ryo to his house. Shige's parents have always been supportive of him, so he doesn't worry that they might construe any relationship between them--at this point, even Shige doesn't exactly know what's between them.
Shige's mom is happy and surprised, as is Shige's dad. But mostly, it's just Shige's mom--she had always thought those "Johnny's kids were just the cutest things" and of course, somewhat recognizes Ryo (to Shige's despair and Ryo's self-satisfaction), especially since he's from Osaka, just like them.
And upon learning that they are all Osaka born, Ryo bonds quickly with Shige's parents, and their native Kansai-ben is immediately used in favor of standard Japanese (or Shige's favored "Tokyo-boy talk," as Ryo calls it.)
Shige instantly regrets bringing Ryo to his house, but not just because his Kansai-ben isn't all that great. It's mostly when Shigemama and Ryo exchange stories about Shige's living habits, bad habits, and just stories about Shige in general. And it's especially when his mom takes out the ten albums of embarrassing childhood pictures that his parents proudly present to all of Shige's friends, and allows Ryo to keep a large selection of the pictures. ("We have doubles of each picture," Shigemama assures Ryo, pushing the 2" thick stack into his hands.)
Dinner is horrendously embarrassing as well, when childhood stories are brought up and expanded upon, much to Ryo's delight.
But in the end, the trip is worth the pain; when Shige sees Ryo's smile and his parents' happy faces, he knows that it was the right decision to come, after all.
("Hahaha, I can't believe you're afraid of caterpillars," Ryo laughs incredulously. "Of all the things out there--caterpillars?"
Shige's face heats up red and he stutters a response, "Wh-what? Leave me alone! Just because I'm scared of caterpillars--they're gross and crawl around and hang from trees and--"
Ryo silences Shige's rambling with a kiss.
They part, Ryo's forehead leaning against Shige's. "It's okay; it's what makes Shige, Shige. I wouldn't have you any other way."
This time, Shige leans in for a kiss.)
yey_yeyShige's been up for 35 hours straight, and by this point, he's pretty much sure his blood has turned into coffee. He had a final paper due for one of his classes, and even though he'd started two weeks ago, things never go so easily for Shige. Whenever he'd sit down to work, Ryo always seemed to pick that moment to turn on the TV, or complain about being hungry, or get a phone call. But Ryo had been asleep for a long time the previous day and been mysteriously busy, and that's when Shige went to work. That was all in the past though. The paper was turned into and his hell was over. All he wanted was a warm bath and then to sleep for the next day.
When he got to the apartment, he went straight to the bathroom, without his customary, "I'm home". He shed clothes as he walked - shirt, pants, socks, underwear. He stumbled into the bathroom and turned on the shower, sighing when the warm spray hit him.
"Why, hello there." A voice drawled from his right.
Shige turned, almost frightened. Ryo was sitting in the bathtub, arm slung over the side and grinning.
"This is a nice surprise. Did you miss me that much while you were at class?"
Shige squeaked, pressing himself against the wall farthest from Ryo as possible and trying to cover himself, "Wha- Ryo-chan! Get out!"
Ryo frowned, "I was here first, so if either us had to get out it would be you." He reached out towards Shige, "I won't make you leave though. Come here. I'll wash your back."
Shige pouted and didn't move.
Ryo laughed and the tiles echoed the sound. He pulled the stool near the bathtub and grabbed the loofah, "Shige, come here. I won't grab at you."
Shige relaxed a little, and after a moment took a careful step closer, turning the shower head off as he did. Ryo made sure to stay still. He took another step and finally sat down on the stool.
"There you go..." And Ryo started softly rubbing soap onto Shige's back, stopping to massage tense spots, "Don't fall asleep, okay?"
Shige nodded and reached for the other bar of soap, washing up and down his arms.
"Do you want me to wash your hair?"
He shook his head, "I'm too tired right now. I just want to get clean and go to bed."
"Isn't it... like, 4:30, or something?"
"Yes, and?"
Ryo laughed and wrapped his arms around Shige's torso, scrubbing at his stomach, "Shi~ge, if you didn't spend so much time studying we could play more." He leaned forward just a little and bit Shige's ear.
Shige tensed up and Ryo could feel him blush.
Ryo laughed again and stood up to grab the shower head off the wall. Turning it on, he checked the temperature on his hand before washing the soap off Shige's back.
"Do you want to get in the tub?"
Shige took the shower head from Ryo, rising off his arms and stomach, "No. I told you - I want to go to bed."
"Okay, okay." Ryo got out of the tub and pulled a towel out of the cabinet, "You don't need to get snappy with me."
"... Sorry. I didn't mean-"
"I know."
Shige put the shower head back and Ryo wrapped a towel around Shige, rubbing his back again.
"Go to bed. I'll make... Crap. Something. There will be something for dinner and I'll wake you up for it."
Shige nodded and stumbled out of the bathroom to the bedroom. Ryo wrapped another towel around his waist and went to stand in the kitchen.
"Now that I think about it," Ryo said to himself, "I don't want to cook." He turned and looked into the living room, "No."
He regarded the closed bedroom door for a minute before laughing quietly and walking towards it.
languishindecay Shige staggers into the apartment one night (or rather, early morning), exhausted and ready to pass out. He's too tired to bother with lights, so he makes his way to the bedroom, stumbling about and trying not to make too much noise. When the lights are off, it means Ryo's asleep.
He fumbles with his clothes, gets into his pajamas, and shoves himself into bed--only to stop when he notices that a body is on his side.
"What the..." Shige turns on the lights (at this point, his body and brain are too tired to comprehend that it's only Ryo on the bed) and sees Ryo, bare of his shirt as usual, but definitely not asleep.
Body open and inviting, as if to say "come and lay on me," Ryo smirks at Shige's dumbfounded face.
"You're supposed to be asleep. In fact, I'm supposed to be asleep. What the hell is going on," Shige complains, mostly to himself, yawning halfway through.
"I was waiting for you, Shi~ge-chan," Ryo purrs, and grabs a hold of the comforter covering his lower half. "And so was little Ryo---ACK. SHIGE, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?"
"What was what for, you're being stupid and I want to sleep. Shut up and good night," Shige mutters into his pillow, face down and already under the covers.
Ryo stands up, mock-angry; "Why the fuck did you push me off the bed? No one can resist the power of little Ryo! At least, no one human...." he trails off, and with a maniacal grin he pounces on the half-asleep Shige.
"Better check you for alien markings, Shige," Ryo sings gleefully as he pulls the blankets away and begins to quite blatantly molest Shige.
"Dajirefakdsfu," Shige replies, "You're being stupid today. Leave'm'lone, you can do what you want tomorrow..."
"Anything I want?"
"Ooieaffdvncksdfa."
Grinning still, Ryo takes that as an affirmative and complies to Shige's wishes, for now. He turns off the lights and gets into bed, pulling Shige over to his body to spoon. Shige is compliant at this level of fatigue and scoots over, content to be finally sleeping.
"Until tomorrow, little Shige," Ryo whispers into the dark.
A few moments later, Shige responds.
"...Were you talking to my penis?!"
yey_yeySunday is traditionally Ryo and Shige's 'Miscellaneous Errand Day' of the week. They go pick up clothes from the dry-cleaners (if there are any to pick up), grocery shop, and meander about town. It's August and the weather man that morning had said a typhoon was going to go by Tokyo, barely; they take an umbrella, just in case. The typhoon decides to run into Tokyo, full force. It's sunny and clear one minute, and the next, buckets of water are being dumped on their heads and people scramble to get inside. For Ryo and Shige, it was the most inconvenient time - they were walking through a little neighborhood, a short cut back to their apartment. Every building is some one's house and there are no shops to duck into. They have to settle for an awning that stretches over a bus stop.
Shige's wiping the water out his eyes, and Ryo's staring at the umbrella, frowning - it hadn't been able to support the weight of so much water.
"This was your umbrella."
"It cost 200yen. What did you expect?"
Ryo turns to Shige, who's trying to wring the water out of his shirt, "I need to buy you a better umbrella.
Shige blushes, "I can buy an umbrella."
"You're not getting a 200yen one. This'll just happen again."
Shige sits down on the bench, "I hope this doesn't last long..."
Ryo joins him, "It's so fucking humid." He set the grocery bag on the ground, "Do you think we'd get in trouble for stripping?"
Shige blanches, "What?! Of course! That's indecent exposure!"
Ryo pulls at the collar of his shirt, "It's too humid for clothes right now..."
But he doesn't take off his shirt, or his pants. Instead, he lets himself fall over, towards Shige, his head falling onto the other man's lap.
Shige blushes, "Ryo-chan..."
"I'm gonna sleep."
Shige doesn't complain about suddenly becoming a pillow and starts running his fingers through Ryo's hair.
Ryo's face is half-pressed into Shige's lap, "Tha' feels good..."
"If you're going to sleep, then sleep."
Ryo laughs quietly and kisses Shige through his pants.
languishindecay It's a school day, but Ryo decides to pick Shige up, even though he had been told by Shige to never go to his school--it would attract too much attention. However, it had started raining halfway through the day and Shige had no umbrella; more importantly, though, Ryo was bored.
He waits outside on the outskirts of campus, towards the exit near the main streets where he knows Shige will walk to, with a red umbrella held up high. Ryo doesn't wait long; soon enough, Shige is running amidst a crowd of students and umbrellas, books clutched tightly in his arms, away from the main campus, head first into him (not that Ryo strategically sidled closer towards Shige or stood in his way, no).
It is when another student runs up and stops behind Shige and Ryo realizes that Shige has other friends, friends at school who he sees for longer periods of time than Ryo, that he gets jealous.
"Shige," the other guy laughs, "You should apologize!"
Laughing slightly as well and looking embarrassed, Shige stutters out an apology, "S-sorry, I wasn't looki---RYO?"
The other guy looks pretty confused, and somehow that makes Ryo more angry; if this guy doesn't know what he is to Shige, that means he must think Shige is available. Pulling Shige closer, Ryo maneuvers the umbrella so that it covers them both. "Yes, that would be me."
"I told you not to come to my school! You know it would draw unnecessary attention towards yourself," Shige chastises in a whisper, obviously over-paranoid. Belatedly realizing his rude behavior, Shige turns back to his friend. "Kei-chan, this is...Haruto. I just call him Ryo because..."
"It was my nickname in middle school," Ryo finishes. "Kei-chan" lights up and immediately introduces himself, and begins on a long tangent of how he and Shige met.
Glaring, Shige whispers to Ryo, "You shouldn't be here; someone will recognize you!"
Ryo smirks and whispers back, "Although I am the Sexy Osaka Man and recognition by my adoring fans is justified (Shige rolls his eyes), there are so many students milling about that the only way I'm going to make a scene is if I do this--"
And Ryo grabs Shige, letting go of the umbrella, and kisses him soundly.
Try as he might, Shige cannot free himself from Ryo's grip, and he can already hear the whispers and murmurs around them escalate, rumors starting and spreading, can feel Kei's surprised gaze, can feel what little reputation he had crumble to pieces...
Until he listens closely, only to find that the murmuring and whispering is all about the man kissing him, how it's that "Nishikido who got kicked out of Johnny's", that "hot Nishikido who was an idol," and this is when Ryo realizes Shige isn't paying attention to him. So, he gropes Shige's ass.
Bewildered more than outraged, Shige steps on Ryo's foot hard and struggles free from his grasp, picks the umbrella up from the ground and pushes it into Ryo's right hand, afterwards taking the left and makes a run for it, away from school, leaving an utterly confused Kei behind.
A few blocks around the corner, Shige slows and stops.
"Ryo, what the hell was that? Why would you do that in front of my friend? Are you trying to make my school life a living hell?" Shige scowls, glaring angrily at Ryo; Kei is one of his only friends here and Shige is outraged because he doesn't know how Kei will react once the shock has passed.
"I was claiming you, Shige--I saw how the other students looked at you, how Kei looked at you, I was showing them that you're mine---"
And an epiphany dawns on Shige. Ryo was just jealous. Jealous that there are other people in Shige's life than just Ryo, and somehow, that's endearing.
"Were you jealous, Ryo-cha~n? You don't have to worry, Kei's just a friend!" Shige is smiling, laughing at the thought of Ryo jealous.
Ryo looks absolutely embarrassed, his cheeks a little pink, and replies all too quickly, "N-no, what makes you say that?! I was just showing your fucking stupid school that you're mine, idiot!"
Shige chuckles and Ryo grows more indignant, and starts walking on ahead with the umbrella. Still amused, Shige catches up with him, catching Ryo's free hand with his own and linking their fingers together.
"If I'm yours, then you're mine too, right Ryo-chan?" Shige asks, squeezing Ryo's hand lightly and leaning in closer towards him. This is the first time Ryo's vocalized his view of their relationship--however inadvertently he had professed it--and Shige was beyond pleased (albeit a bit indignant to be referred to as property) to hear Ryo's true feelings.
Ryo grunts in response, too embarrassed to say anything yet, and the two of them walk back to their small apartment, hand-in-hand.
yey_yeyIt's early in the morning and Ryo's phone is ringing, but he isn't moving to pick it up. It keeps ringing, until it goes to voicemail. A minute later, it starts ringing again, and Ryo still doesn't pick it up. On the third time, Shige finally crawls over Ryo to the side table and picks up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Ryo-chan!" The caller is perky and sounds like a girl.
"Um, no... he's sleeping."
"Wha~t? Ryo-chan's still sleeping?" It really sounds like a girl on the other line and Shige's starting to get nervous.
"Um, yes. I.. I don't think he wants to get up yet so, maybe.. you should call back in the afternoon..."
"But I want to talk to Ryo-chan now!"
The caller yells it loud enough that Ryo easily hears it, groans into the pillow and reaches out, pulling the phone away from Shige.
"Yasu. Not now."
Shige hears the caller whining, and then Ryo hangs up. He throws the phone on the floor, grabs Shige around the waist and presses his face into Shige's chest.
"Obnoxious bastard. It's so early."
Shige knows that Ryo wants to go back to sleep, but he's wide awake with worry.
"Ryo-chan, who was that?"
Ryo grunts into Shige's chest, "No one important."
Shige shakes Ryo's shoulders, "It.. it sounded like a girl! Are you-"
"Ew, no." Ryo fidgets around for a minute, "It was just Yasu."
Shige's still fretting, "Who is Yasu?"
Ryo looks up, irritated, "Didn't you hear me? He's no one important. Go back to sleep."
Shige pulls away from Ryo, "Why won't you tell me?"
"It's just. Fucking. Yasu. He loves waking people up and whining to them about nothing. Stop worrying, he's feminine and all that shit, but I'm not into him."
"... Swear?"
"Yes, I fucking swear."
Ryo pulls Shige back to him and settles down to sleep. Shige's hands are on Ryo's back, but he's still tense. He's still upset about Yasu's call and how he called Ryo, 'Ryo-chan' in such a girlish tone. Ryo fidgets again, trying to get comfortable, but he seems to know Shige's still thinking about the call, so he pulls himself up closer to Shige's face.
"Relax." Ryo closes the short distance between them, and kisses Shige on the forehead, then rests his against Shige's, "You're the only guy I'm into."
Shige sighs and scoots a little closer.
languishindecay Ryo comes home one afternoon to find that Shige is already there, settled on the floor, wrapped in a blanket, in front of the small television in their living room.
Confused and a little angry that Shige did not tell him he was going to be home early, Ryo prods Shige with his foot, "Shige, what the fuck, I thought you had a project to work on--" and notices that Shige is watching him. On television. Shige is watching him being woken up early by his shitty, stupid ex-band mates on their 47 Prefecture tour. A little flustered and bewildered, Ryo kicks Shige with his foot again. "Shige, why the fuck are you watching that weird shit, stop watching it!"
Shige blatantly ignores him and burrows further into the blanket and continues to watch the DVD.
Ryo's mouth almost drops open in shock, not only appalled that Shige would watch this embarrassing shit of him but also that he would ignore him like that--him, Nishikido Ryo.
Kicking Shige again, Ryo is about to yell at him when Shige starts laughing almost hysterically at his punishment game. "You're such an idiot, Ryo," Shige says in between laughs, "You always act so cool, but in this DVD you and your band mates are just stupid."
Ryo's face flushes in mortification as he realizes that Shige has watched most of the DVD by this point; he strides forwards towards the television and turns it off, turning around to face Shige. "You freak, you had enough time to watch this? Why weren't you at school?!" Ryo demands, taking the focus off of himself.
"The professor was sick so I didn't have my afternoon class, but that's besides the point--I didn't know you got so affectionate with your band members, Ryo; you're so nice and happy here, but you're always so mean to me," Shige teases, just a little bit jealous of the good member dynamics and easy going relationship Ryo seems to have with his band.
"Whatever," Ryo huffs, "There are cameras everywhere; we have to be nice and happy together. Besides, they're all really retarded, kind of like you're being right now but multiplied by a hundred. I prefer being here than out there where all the cameras are." Ryo sits down on the couch, behind Shige, and pulls a reluctant Shige up to sit on his lap. "I'm hungry," Ryo says, hugging Shige tightly, "make me food."
"Well, it's not like I can cook for you if you're all over me and I can't get up," Shige chides, leaning back against Ryo, who buries his face into Shige's neck.
"Whatever," Ryo mutters again, smiling into Shige's neck.
They sit there together until the apartment grows dark.
yey_yeyRyo doesn't realize he's completely missed Shige's birthday until after the fact. He stands in the entry way, looking at the postcard that says, 'Shige~ Happy belated birthday!', wondering how this got past him. Shige's not home yet - he has a study group and won't be back until evening. Ryo needs to make sure of this though, so he doesn't make an idiot of himself. He calls Shigemama, who's more than happy to reaccount every birthday Shige has ever had - and yes, it was three days ago. After the phone call, he only has three hours to get everything ready.
He sticks to the stores near home, since he doesn't have time to waste sitting in traffic to get to Ginza or Shibuya. First, the bakery to put in an express order. The middle aged woman behind the counter doesn't seem too happy, but Ryo was once a famous idol, so he turns on the charm, and gets what he wants. He meanders around town then, going into shops and finding things Shige would like (which he actually finds a lot harder than he anticipated). Ryo spends only a fleeting moment, wondering if he should invite some other people to the little party, but then he thinks of Shige's friend from school, Kei, and vetoes the idea. Even if he had that kid's number, he wouldn't call.
At 7:30pm, he's all ready for Shige, standing in the entry, cake and presents on the table. He feels like it's a surprise party, but if it was, it'd be a really sad one. When he hears the key in the lock, Ryo throws open the door, startling Shige, and steps out into the hallway, not even wearing shoes, and wraps his arms around Shige.
Shige laughs, "Did you miss me that much?"
Ryo rests his head against Shige's, "You've been keeping something from me."
And then he lets go, pulling Shige inside. When he sees the cake and the presents, Shige starts laughing again and presses his face into Ryo's shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm the best."
"I can't believe you did this."
"Well, I can't believe you didn't tell me it was your birthday three days ago!" Ryo steps away from Shige, "Seriously. Why didn't you tell me?"
Shige looks completely unembarrassed when he looks at Ryo and says, "I'm 21 now. I don't need big parties, or anything really. It's just another day."
Ryo frowns, "How old are you?"
"21."
"No, really. 21-year-old's don't talk like that. I would know. I was one. Old people talk like that. You're too mature for your own good. Now sit down and eat some cake."
It's a three layer cake - chocolate in the middle, with vanilla on the top and bottom. On the top are two little plastic man figures.
"Um, those are little men. On... my birthday cake."
"And?"
"Isn't that done at weddings?"
Shige can see the tiniest hint of a blush across Ryo's cheeks, "Just shut up and eat your cake."
Once the first piece is done, Ryo decides that it's present time and picks up the first one - a medium sized black bag.
Shige opens it at the top, just a tiny bit and peeks inside, "What is it?"
"Just open the damn thing!"
So he does. It's a sky-blue tank top with little gold-colored crowns making the shape of a big crown on the front. Shige smiles.
"Try it on."
"Eh? Right here?"
Ryo nods and Shige figures he might as well. It's tight, but not uncomfortably so, more like a second skin. The second present is in a large pink box and it worries Shige just a fraction. But he opens it anyways and pulls out a memory foam pillow.
"You lean over your books a lot, so I figured you should do something nice for your neck and shoulders while you sleep."
Shige blushes, "Thank you."
The third present is in a small, grey box, tied closed with black, velvet ribbon. Carefully, he takes the ribbon off (it could be used again!) and opens the box. He's not quite sure what to make of it. Out of the box, he pulls a pair of black briefs with the words, "I'm a cherry boy" across the ass, with an accompanying picture of cherries.
Shige looks up at Ryo, who's grinning, "Are you serious?"
"Oh, yes. Very." Ryo starts leering, "Try them on."
Shige blanches, "No!"
Ryo gets up from the table and goes over to Shige's side, "Why not? This is our apartment, isn't it? It's not a big deal, Shige. I mean, if you were naked all the time, I wouldn't have any problem with it."
Shige's looking at the underwear and he feels like some how, Ryo will manipulate him into wearing them, sooner or later. He stands up, slowly and Ryo smirks. Shige unbuckles his belt, but stops before he unbuttons his pants. His face is warm and he can't stand to look up.
"Would you, um, maybe... go to the other side?"
"Of what, Shige?"
He doesn't trust his voice, so Shige just points to the other side of the table where Ryo came from. Ryo goes back, but not before dragging his hand across Shige's lower back. Shige unbuttons and unzips his pants, holds onto them very tightly. He figures he should rip off his pants, do it quickly like it's a bandaid. Shige closes his eyes and goes.
Getting his pants and underwear off went fine, but as he was pulling the cherry-boy underwear up, he some how lost his balance and started falling backwards. He hears Ryo yell and then Shige lands, hard. Shige opens his eyes and stares at the ceiling, Ryo very quickly coming into his line of vision.
"Shige! Are you okay?!"
He nods and Ryo grabs Shige around the chest, under his arms, and lifts him back up to his feet.
"You're really clumsy."
"Maybe if certain people didn't make me strip in the living room of the apartment-"
"Maybe if certain people weren't awkward and embarrassed about their own bodies-"
"Who said I'm embarrassed?!"
"You never want to be naked! Whenever we're together and we end up naked, you get all awkward about it! That time in your old apartment when I was drunk-"
"Ryo-chan!"
"And that day in the bath!"
"Augh, stop!"
"We need to work on this, Shige." Ryo reached down, grabbed Shige's pants off the floor and threw them into the bedroom, closing the door, "It starts now."
"This isn't fair!"
Ryo pauses for a minute, "You're right." Shige smiles, and then Ryo takes off his pants too, "There. That's better."
Shige covers his face with his hands, "It's not better at all!"
Ryo takes the few steps to Shige and hugs him loosely around his waist, "Happy birthday, Shige~"
Shige is still too horrified to answer.
languishindecay There's an impatient knock on the apartment door one day, and Shige goes to answer it, thinking Ryo had forgotten something.
Opening the door, however, he is toppled over, blinded by a barrage of colors and attacked by a mass of limbs and bodies. (This is how Shige learns to always looks through the little peep hole before opening the apartment door to anyone.)
"Ryo-chan~ Where's Ryo-chan~" a familiar voice squeals in his ear as he struggles to set himself free from his confinement of limbs.
"N-Not...here..." Shige wheezes in response, lung capacity greatly diminished by the heavy weight on his chest.
A merciful God (or just Shibutani) heaves the weight off his chest, and looking above him, he sees six faces peering down at him, and barely stifles the scream of horror that tries to leave his lips.
"Ahhh, it's Ryo-chan's secret friend~" the colorful one squeals again; now that he has full capability of all his faculties, Shige recognizes both the voice and the face from the DVD of Ryo's ex-band he had semi-secretly watched before.
Yokoyama notices the look of recognition on Shige's face first, and offers a helping hand to pull him up.
"You're...Kanjani8?" Shige asks after thanking Yokoyama for helping him up. The group as a whole seems to nod their heads excitedly, and in unison.
"I'm afraid you have us at a disadvantage," Ohkura replies, "You know who we are but we don't know you..."
"Katou," Shige replies.
...It all goes downhill from there.
Upon learning his name, Shige is once again attacked, but this time with endless questions about himself and himself AND Ryo... all of which he tries to deflect (almost always unsuccessfully) and focus on Ryo and the members of Kanjani8 themselves.
Before long, Ryo comes back home to a noisy, chaotic apartment filled with excitable band members and a flustered, traumatized, claustrophobic Shige who is currently being smothered by Yasuda and Shibutani.
"What...the...FUCK?!?!" Ryo lets out a stream of expletives as he drags each member of his ex-band, one by one, out the door. "How the fuck did you find my apartment?" Ryo interrogates, pissed and incredulous.
Maruyama is the first to crack. "Well... you see.....wekindofhadsomeonefollowyouhomeoneday."
Murakami meekly raises his hand. "I did."
Ryo stands completely still and silent for a whole minute (a little bit more than surprised that Shingo has the ability to be discreet enough to stalk him), before rage takes over and he yells at them in incomprehensible Kansai-ben, shoves them all out of the apartment and slams the door in their faces.
Shige is still in the living room, looking completely traumatized.
Ryo sighs, and approaches Shige slowly, as one would a frightened animal. "Sorry about that, they're all just RETARDED STALKERS," Ryo yells towards the door, in case they were still there, "WHO DON'T KNOW HOW TO LEAVE PEOPLE ALONE." Ryo leads Shige to their small kitchen, sits him down, and makes him tea. Sitting next to Shige as the younger mechanically drinks his tea, Ryo pats him on the back soothingly. "It'll be okay, Shige; they'll never come here again. I'll make sure of it."
Shige can only nod in response.
He doesn't speak for another day.
yey_yeyIt’s Thursday night and Shige has school things spread out all over the floor - Ryo’s not entirely sure why. He does however, complain about it loudly and “accidentally” steps on a few things, nothing important though. Shige just rights whatever movement happeed and goes back to work; he only stops for dinner. Afterwards, Ryo puts away the dishes (Shige had insisted) and in a cabinet, Ryo finds an unopened bottle of wine. He grins and pulls it out.
“Shige, look what I found.”
He doesn’t seem all that interested, “Oh, some wine?”
Ryo sets the bottle down on the floor next to Shige, “Where are the wine glasses?”
“Uh… I have no idea. That was a house warming present from my old apartment. I completely forgot about it.”
Ryo frowns, “I guess we could just drink it out of… regular cups. Oh god, I can’t believe I said that. I sounded so poor.”
“Um,” Shige sounds apprehensive, “I… don’t really want any. Wine makes me… kind of weird.”
Ryo digs around in the kitchen until he finds a bottle opener and some small tea cups that are acceptable and goes to the table in the living room near Shige. He pushes some of Shige’s school things off the table and uncorks the wine, pouring it into the cups.
“All the more reason for you to drink some.”
Shige holds the cup in his hand for a while, but at Ryo’s third cup, he starts feel obligation to drink a little. But like Shige said, wine makes him weird, and after one cup, he’s feeling it. Shige’s one cup turns into two, two into three, three into four and so on, until Shige’s lying on the floor, rolling around. And it makes Ryo think, maybe, he shouldn’t have given Shige wine.
“Ryo-chan, Ryo-chan, we should go some where together.”
Ryo’s leaning against the wall, watching Shige, “Where do you want to go, Shige?”
Shige crawls up to him and holds Ryo’s feet in his hands, “Hawaii. I want to go to Hawaii. Every one’s been there but me.”
Ryo frowns, “Hawaii’s old. Tahiti’s the place to be.”
Shige keeps crawling forward, until he can rest his head on Ryo’s shoulder, “Tahiti? What about Vanuatu? And Fiji?”
"Pick one, Shige. Just one for now."
Shige throws a leg over Ryo's lap and straddles him, "An island paradise with Ryo-chan..."
And then, Ryo nearly goes into shock, because Shige’s leaning forward, sucking on his bottom lip, muttering, “Ryo-chan, kiss me.”
Ryo groans, puts his hands on Shige’s hips and presses his lips against Shige, slipping his tongue in. Shige doesn’t fight for dominance in the slightest, he’s happy to rest his weight against Ryo, go with the flow and making mewling noises when Ryo rolls his hips. He has his arms around Ryo’s neck, so that even if he wanted to, he couldn’t pull away. They’re holding each other tightly, flush against one another. Ryo is kissing Shige hard enough to leave both their lips’ swollen.
When they pause to catch their breath, Ryo slips one hand up Shige’s shirt and the other moves around to grab his ass.
“Wine does make you weird.”
Shige leans in and sucks on Ryo’s earlobe, “I told you.”
“You’re not allowed to drink it. Unless you’re with me. And we’re alone.”
Shige finds the artery in Ryo’s neck, and follows it down, nibbling the whole way, “As you wish.”
They end up drinking more and the rest of the night turns into a blur. When Ryo wakes up, he doesn’t realize there’s anything on his chest until he tries to move and Shige groans. Ryo’s about to ask Shige if he needs anything, when he rolls off Ryo’s chest and clutches his head.
“Aspirin. Bathroom.”
Ryo gets it, and Shige swallows the two pills without any water.
“Are you okay?”
Shige shakes his head.
Ryo sits down on the floor and pulls Shige into his lap, “Wine really fucks with you.”
Shige nods and skips his classes for the day.
languishindecay Shige comes home from school late one day after a quick stop at the grocery store. The sun's set and he can see that the apartment lights are on; smiling slightly to himself at the thought of Ryo waiting for him, he rushes inside and up to the apartment and opens the door with a "Ryo-chan~ Guess what I'm going to make for dinner tonight~" only to find that it's not Ryo in the apartment, it's Yamashita.
Freezing slightly, Shige tentatively steps inside his apartment and is greeted by a doting Yamashita; "Here, Katou-kun, let me take those groceries for you," Yamashita says, bringing the groceries into the kitchen. "I waited a long time for you to come home, you know?"
Shige is beyond confused. "No, not really, I don't know... Where's Ryo? Why are you here, Yamashita-san?" Yamashita brings trauma with him and memories Shige does not want to delve into nor remember, so he ignores it all and tries to treat Yamashita with courtesy.
"Call me Yamapi," Yamashita beams as he sets the groceries in their respective places in the tiny kitchen. "Ryo-chan had some errands to run, he'll be home in an hour or so. In the meantime, we can play!"
The prospect of "playing" with Yamapi slightly frightens Shige, but at the sight of Yamapi's wide, seemingly innocent smile, Shige can't do anything but nod his head. "Y-yes, play...Why are you here again, Yamash--Yamapi?"
Shige never finds out why Yamapi is at the apartment, because as soon as Shige has acquiesced to playing, Yamapi has produced a video game console complete with video games and extra controllers. "We can play this! It's really fun~" Yamapi excitedly says, hooking the pieces up to the television.
"Ah, Yamash--Yamapi, I'm not really into video games... besides, I need to start preparing dinner..." Shige trails off. He's never been one for video games; when he was little, he played the FamilyCon at the neighbor's house a few times, and when he visited Kei, he played some computer games, but other than that he had no experience. "Maybe it'd be better if you went home?"
Yamapi isn't deterred at all. "Oh, cooking? I love to cook! Let's cook together, Katou-kun~" Yamapi exclaims. But Shige has enough foresight to see that maybe, cooking with Yamapi isn't such a good idea. "A-Ah, I'm sure it'll be fine to just play some video games first..."
Two hours later, when Shige has been defeated for the twentieth time, he wonders how in the end, even though he had refused, he ended up playing video games anyways. At that moment, luckily (and before Yamapi can suggest any more video games), Ryo comes home.
"Hey, Shige, what's for dinner--oh, hey Pi... PI? What the hell, Yamapi, why are you here? How are you here?!" Ryo is surprised and a little annoyed--he had planned to spend the rest of the evening being pampered by Shige, only to come home to see that Yamapi and Shige are playing Super Smash Brothers... Wait. Super Smash Brothers? "AHHH, Pi, Pi, I want to play too!" Ryo grins (no one can beat Nishikido Ryo at Super Smash), entirely ignoring Yamapi's response of "I came here by car, of course!" and Shige's completely incredulous face (never had Ryo been so easily distracted when angry...except for that one time when Shige used his tongue...but that's an entirely different story). Ryo plops down on the other side of Shige and plugs in another controller. "I'll pwn you guys so bad, you won't know what hit you," Ryo cackles, and Shige resigns himself to another two hours of video games.
Dinner is never made, and the next morning, when the three wake up on the floor of the cramped living room, Ryo is starving and demands food from sleepy Shige, who refuses to awaken and burrows his face deeper into his makeshift pillow, Ryo's stomach. Yamapi volunteers to make breakfast, and ends up undercooking the rice and burning the miso soup.
The apartment smells like burnt miso for another two days, and Shige vows to never let any one of Ryo's friends touch anything in the kitchen again.
yey_yeyRyo doesn't move his stuff in the apartment very often, nor does he pick up after himself. So when something of his disappears and re-appears some where else, he figures it's just Shige's doing and doesn't mention anything about it or think too much of it.
But when the TV remote disappears from right next to his hand while Shige's in class, he starts wondering if maybe, their apartment is haunted. He goes down to visit the landlady and ask her about it. She tells him the last person to live in their apartment got married and moved out and she never talked about disappearing objects. Ryo's dumbfounded and goes back up. He spends the rest of the day holding everything important. Very tightly.
Shige's back and making dinner (and a lot of noise) in the kitchen, and Ryo could easily bring up the disappearing remote story, but he doesn't feel like making Shige think he's living with a crazy person. So he stays quiet.
"Ryo-chan, do you know where the good kitchen knife went?"
"It's in the drawer."
"No, it's not."
Ryo gets up from the couch and goes to stand next to Shige in the kitchen, at the drawer where the knife isn't.
"What the hell?! I put it in there this morning!"
Ryo opens all the adjacent drawers, put it's not there either. Shige shoo's Ryo out of the kitchen and uses the not-quite-as-nice knife. Ryo sits on the couch, fearing that everything he touches disappears into a Fourth Dimension. And then he starts worrying about touching Shige.
After dinner, when Shige's putting the leftovers away, he finds the knife. It was in the cabinet under the stove in a tupperware bowl. He looks at it, very concerned.
"I think he's getting jealous."
Ryo eyes Shige, "Who? Who's jealous?"
"Wagahai."
"What the fuck is a 'Wagahai'?"
Shige puts the knife in its rightful place, "My cat."
Ryo thinks they both must be going crazy, "Shige, you're allergic to cats."
"I know. He's invisible."
Ryo puts his face in his hands, "We're both crazy."
Shige just keeps going, "It used to be just me and him, but I think he's jealous of you now. So he's moving stuff around to annoy us. I thought I was just being forgetful, but now..."
"But now your invisible cat is moving our shit around."
"Yeah. I should leave out some kitty treats for him. Maybe then he'll feel better."
"What- Why would- Shige! It's an imaginary cat! It's not going to eat any damn treats! There's something else moving our stuff around!"
Shige frowns, "No, it's Wagahai. He's done it before. He didn't... like my old job. When I started... he'd hide things that I needed for it."
Ryo doesn’t try to argue the point any more and just accepts his crazy boyfriend whatever. But he's not about to let Shige leave out cat treats (why do they even have cat treats?). So after Shige goes to bed, Ryo throws them all in the garbage. Ryo gets into bed that night, smiling, spooning up behind Shige.
In the morning, Ryo can't find his phone or the charger. And all his underwear is all missing. And the leftover donburi he wanted to eat for lunch is in the garbage.
Shige helps Ryo look for his missing things, but only half-heartedly. He knows when Wagahai's ready for give them back, they'll appear in the middle of the hall, or piled up on the couch. Looking for the missing items never does anything.
"You know," Shige's standing over Ryo as he takes everything out of the cabinet under the stove, "you shouldn't have thrown out those kitty treats."
languishindecay Shige wakes up one morning, and something feels different. He can't pinpoint what, but he reasons with himself that eventually, he'll figure it out.
He follows his daily morning routine, brushing his teeth, showering, etc.; it's when he begins to prepare breakfast that he notices it: the shining, silver band on his pinky. There's a glittering black stone set in the middle and dark engravings all around it. It looks like Ryo's handiwork in that this is something Ryo would go and buy, and upon closer inspection of the band, Shige knows it's from Ryo--on the inside of the band is inscribed "Property of Nishikido Ryo-sama," almost too tiny for Shige to read. Touched and a little indignant, Shige retrieves a thin silver chain from the bathroom drawer where his small collection of jewelry is, puts the ring on the chain, and hangs it around his neck. Smiling, Shige continues his daily routine.
When Shige comes home, Ryo is waiting expectantly. So, Shige pretends to not know anything.
"Shige-chan~ How did you like your present?" Ryo grins gleefully, grabbing Shige's hand and inspecting the ring...only to find that it's not there.
Shige acts oblivious. "What present?"
"...The ring that was on your finger. I definitely left it on your finger," Ryo deadpans in return, glaring at Shige's pinky as if it were the culprit that was responsible for the missing ring.
Shige continues his act and asks, "What ring?" before shaking Ryo off and going to change into sweats. Ryo follows him, muttering something about "It must have slipped off and onto the bed."
Shige is careful to be especially conspicuous about changing, and Ryo is perceptive enough (thankfully) to see that the ring is on a chain around Shige's neck. Growling, Ryo pushes Shige, who is still half undressed--arms awkwardly trapped by his shirt and pants unbuttoned--onto the bed, and pounces on him.
"You had it all along, you little fucker," Ryo glares in what he probably thinks to be a menacing way, but what Shige thinks to be funny looking, realizes Shige isn't taking him seriously, and promptly bites Shige on the hand.
Shige yelps and snatches his hand away from Ryo's grasp. "What the hell, Ryo, what was that for?"
Ryo sits up, still on Shige, nose in the air. "That was for tricking me and not giving me the proper respect I deserve."
Shige laughs hard at Ryo's ridiculousness, and Ryo can feel the vibrations, and they're effecting him in a way that Shige's laugh hasn't effected him before. Shige feels it, too, and starts to laugh even harder as he pulls Ryo down for a kiss.
"Thank you for the ring,'Nishikido Ryo-sama,'" Shige says as Ryo's mouth deviates from Shige's lips to his neck, "although I don't really appreciate being labeled as a piece of property."
"It doesn't matter," Ryo says in between open mouthed kisses and nips at Shige's collar bone, "because you're mine."
Laughing once again, Shige agrees whole heartedly.
