005: [Video/action] Compiling information

Dec 16, 2009 19:14

[The video shows Reid in the library with books stacked up and legal pads scattered. He's got a digital audio recorder with him as well]So...I don't know what happened on Mars but I'm trying to figure it out. If I could get p-people to talk to me about what they saw in the Pit, or what they experienced on the planet, I'd appreciate it. Anything you ( Read more... )

Planet was empty. Pit was dark. [This is Faith code for I might trust you enough to talk about it but I don't really wanna talk about it. But I actually do.]

Jury's still out on the coming back. [But she's smiling a little.]

Damn. [She doesn't exactly know what that really means.] So like, split personalities?

Jury's always out on that. It's not something that gets better. It's something you learn to control.

[He furrows his brow, searching for the best way to explain it]

Not really, that's multiple personality disorder. Paranoid Schizophrenia is usually characterized by hallucinations, paranoid delusions. Sometimes it affects her speech and memory. She forgets who I am, what day it is. Most of the time she still thinks she's a literature professor. She has problems with what's real and what's not.

[Now she laughs, 'cause control? Faith?] Doc, you're pretty funny, you know that?

[Well. If Faith was smarter, she'd figure that her mom must've suffered from something similar. As such, she's pretty sure that she was just a drunk and while Reid's situation sounds way shitty, she's still not sure it's quite the same.]

Oh. Had to be tough.

[Reid grins and shrugs] N-not something people usually say about me.

[He watches Faith a minute then nods] Paranoid Schizophrenia is genetic. I kind of think that's what I'd see in the Pit. My Mom and then...me like that.

[He's trying to bring the conversation back around to the pit, hoping he's gained enough of Faith's trust by sharing that she'll share back]

Yeah, I get that. Whatever, fuck 'em. [She's still smiling, at least. Her face drops a little when she gets serious again.]

Know that feeling, little too well. Kinda surprised that it's not the show I got when I went down.

[He kind of appreciates the compliment...if that's what you'd call it]

From what I'm hearing? So far everyone experienced something that's already happened or something that was a fear. Maybe a combination of both.

[It's a Faith!compliment. Him going with it is the best option. It's a good thing he's smart! She's still deciding, Reid, but it's not looking too bleak.]

Yeah, sounds about right.

[He does try. Although on occasion he's the smartest dumb person ever]

I'm h-hoping I can come up with a pattern for this event then compare it to others and find a common factor. If I can do that, I might be able to help us with future events or even find a way out of here.

[Faith twirls her sucker in her mouth for a second, looking as though she wants to say something. Finally, she looks down at the table, not really comfortable with that earnest direct eye contact shit while she takes a chance.]

You're saying you want details.

[Reid watches Faith then looks down at his hands]

It might help me. W-we can talk l-longer if you want. I'm not in any hurry.

[Faith's face hardens a little, not in response to Reid so much as in preparation to do something she's never been comfortable with. In prison, they used to try to get her to talk, which, she's not an idiot. Flapping her yapper there would mean injections and the loony bin. Here, however, the outlook isn't so numb and empty.]

Went down, didn't see anything at first. You know, just black and empty? Then it was just a vamp, a normal everyday vamp.

[She shook her head, furrowing her eyebrows a little and chomping down on the sucker.]

Shoulda been easy, pulled the stake outta my jacket, did a little dodging and insteada him goin' down...

[Normally Reid would just let Faith talk but the hard look on her face sort of makes him think She needs to be reminded she's not alone here. He leans a little bit on the table, not touching but closer]

But it didn't happen that way.

[She can't help but pull back a little, pulling a hand in toward her stomach.]

Nah. He got the jump on me and when I tried to thrust, it was like-- I wasn't a slayer.

[Faith shrugs and continues to stare down at the table.]

[Reid stays where he is and nods. He's not scribbling notes right now. The truth is with his eidetic memory, he doesn't need notes but sometimes it helps him think to write things down. After she's gone he'll take his notes.]

Th-that's a common fear. Powerlessness.

[He tucks his hair behind his ears.]

It's probably w-worse for you.

[Faith laughs humorlessly, and shrugs.]

It's more than that, Superdome. Being a slayer, it's like-- when you get called, it changes you. Forever.

[Oops, she realizes that she's getting waaaay too deep into this. Deal was, she told him what she saw and that was that.]

But whatever, not like I died or anything. Climbing back out with a hole in my side wasn't all that fun but it's not like that's not something I haven't dealt with before.
