It took a few sweeps over Coriander Forest to find what he was looking for. Leaning over Pidgeot's shoulder, KyuJong scanned along the trees for the marker he'd been told to look for. "This is the right forest, right Pidgeot?"

The bird pokemon chirped in reply, beating it's wings to keep aloft.

Squinting, KyuJong smiled. "Head down over there," he pointed, Pidgeot gliding towards the faint break in the trees his trainer had spotted. Branches brushed them, KyuJong ducking to avoid getting smacked in the face.

Then they broke through, Pidgeot landing smoothly in the small clearing. KyuJong slipped down off the large bird's back, fingers smoothing Pidgeot's feathers absently as he looked around.

There it was. A single wishing well in the center of the clearing, simple at first appearance. "Good job," KyuJong whispered to Pidgeot. They'd found Celebi's Shrine.

He took a step towards it when suddenly the trees around them exploded, bug Pokemon attacking. KyuJong ducked, covering his head. "Pidgeot, use protect!" he shouted over the sound of angry buzzing, a Beedrill coming right at him with stinger extended.

The Beedrill bounced right off an invisible shield between him and them, the bugs hovering just outside it unable to attack. Panting, KyuJong straightened, stepping back to Pidgeot's side. The bird pokemon shuddered beside him, maintaining the shield.

"It's okay!" He called loudly over the angry buzzing. "I'm a friend!" Spotting the figure watching through the trees, KyuJong pulled his dog tag off his neck and held it up. The sun reflected off the metal, the outline of Ho-Oh standing out.

The bug Pokemon continued to hover for a long moment before flying away. Slowly lowering the dog tag, KyuJong looked at the Yanma left hovering in front of him warily before glancing towards the person stepping out of the trees.

"What are you doing here?" the person asked. "This area of the forest is off-limits."

"I know it is," KyuJong wiped the sweat off his face, grinning sheepishly. "I had to come see if...if the shrine was still here."

"Still here?" the older man standing across from him blinked, resting his bug net against a tree. "Why wouldn't it be?"

"There have been...rumors," KyuJong answered slowly. "Rumors of the legendaries disappearing. I didn't believe it myself at first, but..." He looked down at the dog tag in his hands. His thumb ran over the cut-out of Ho-Oh.

"Gone?" The other man asked.

"Yeah," KyuJong murmured, sighing as he looked up. "Ho-Oh's not the only one too. Kyogre's gone, and Lugia. I haven't been able to get in touch with the other guardians."

"What could have happened though?" The bug catcher frowned, folding his arms across his chest.

"Your guess is as good as mine," KyuJong shook his head, looking over at the shrine. "Celebi?"

"Haven't seen him for years, but we'd all know if he wasn't around," the bug catcher replied, stepping over to the well. He leaned over, looking into it before turning back to KyuJong. "What now?"

"Now, I find Jirachi's guardian," KyuJong's lips thinned. "The Millennium Comet will be passing overhead in a few months."

"Ouch," The bug catcher sighed. "I wish I could help, but I have to stay here. Especially if they're all starting to go missing." He looked at the well again.

"I'm not going to pull you away from your job," KyuJong smiled, leaning a little against Pidgeot. "Can we keep in touch though? Just..in case."

"Yeah," the bug catcher nodded, walking over to him. The two exchanged cell phone numbers before KyuJong hopped back onto Pidgeot's back.

"Good luck," The bug catcher said, stepping back as Pidgeot's wings flared out for flight.

"You as well," KyuJong replied, leaning down over Pidgeot's back as the bird pokemon took off with a gust of wind. The encounter had made him feel better though. At least he wasn't the only one left.
