A few thoughts on Picard

We binged the series the other day. A few thoughts:
[Spoiler (click to open)]1. In many ways, this was as much a show from the '90s as a current show; we not only had Picard and Seven, we also had Riker and Troi, and then folks like Hugh, Maddox, and even poor Icheb

I sort of hope this series will stay a one-off. I enjoyed it, but I don't feel a need to revisit anyone but Riker's family after this narrative

They've announced and started filming a second season (pretty much a given, in light of the ending of the first one -- letting him die would have improved the story tenfold, and made sense as a way to close the door on his plotline).

I was honestly rooting for him to die, just because it was the strongest narrative
