If any one fandom is littered with bad fanfiction, I would say, that place would be the Chronicles of Narnia. For one thing, you have people who only have seen the first two movies. On the other hand, you have people who have no concept of cultural differences via location, and time era. This becomes evident, when they write their fanfic.
Also, if there is any fandom that has a high level of critique, and lack of flamers in comparison, I would say it would be the Chronicles of Narnia too. This has to do with the fact that a good deal of the fans know that each of the books interweave with each other, and to read one with out the other is mute. They also tend to have high standards when it comes to writing.
I tend to stay away from the fandom, for the large amount of fanfiction that is bad, and the fact that writing a good fanfic for Chronicles of Narnia is not an easy task to do, simply because this fandom is one of the ones that allows little to no breathing room for a fanfic writer. But, every so often, I do happen to read stuff. It was actually a few Sue fics from this author.
It started off, with a one-shot romance tale, where Edmund eloped with the OC, driving off in a carriage from his sister Lucy's wedding to Tumnus. And yes, a good deal of us were up in storms about this, and pointed out the logic flaws in the whole storyline. The authoress wasn't at all pleased, and tried explaining away her mistakes, in the worst way possible.
She personally felt, that it was all right to turn Edward, into a version of today's teenager. However, many of us noted that during that time frame, the etiquette of a teenager was much different then that of today, and a good deal of them would be more of gentlemen. Edward and Peter, were two such people, as that was part of their character personally, that they had kingly attributes to them. Peter was off too, by the way.
She also felt that Tumnus and Lucy's relationship was a romantic one, which really set people off. For one thing, there is a big age difference between the two, which makes the relationship pedo. Not to mention, Tumnus was a mentor for Lucy, and a friend, nothing more, nothing less. Then again, I won't mention where, but I've seen people mistake a truly pedo relationship for a brother/sister one.
We also pointed out the fact, that she was a human, and appeared out of nowhere. So, she decided to write a prequel, explaining how her OC and Edward met. She ended up getting an even bigger critique, because it became evident, she not only hadn't read the books, but she didn't pay much attention to the movies.
Her OC was in fact... drum roll please, the slave of the White Witch. Even though, the White Witch killed of humans because of the prophesy. This was something evident in the movie even, but other things, that I can't remember, clued people in, that she hadn't read the books. Let's just say, she didn't think it was important to respect the original creator of the fandom. Oh... and she doesn't think that she should be repoted for hot-off-the-press work...
