Oh my gosh. Audrey is so, so - I rarely read her fic but you've gotten her pegged so, so good. This is amazing. Wow. I love how quiet and real their relationship feels. I hate her and love her at the same time. Brendon and Ryan too. This is amazing. I love their paint hate date. It's my favorite scene. They're all proud, arrogant and unruly but they're all like that together and it's he first time we see that it could work. They could really work! I love this. Yowzah.
Oh, wow. Damn. You guys...the characterization is just amazing, because you manage to make Audrey seem so cold and bitchy, selfish and uncaring, and yet I, as the reader, still love her to death. Like, despite the fact that she's totally just trying to get Ryan and Brendon because of Alicia at first, and despite the fact that she's thinking about how much she likes pissing them off, you know, by the end of it, I just really wanted her to be okay. Obviously, the same is true for Brendon and Ryan (they're both kind of utter assholes, to an extent. I think you've done Ryan perfectly. And possibly very, very realistically), thought to a lesser extent, because we don't see their bitchiness quite as much, as we don't get a look inside their heads

Thank you! I can't speak for takkatakkatakka obviously, but characters are nearly always my favorite part of writing, so whenever I hear that they come across well I feel ~~warm inside. It's especially nice to hear that you still cared for her, even though she was a pretty annoying human being.
[and yes, I do feel like Ross is like this in RL. I sort of wish there could be more Ryan in this, even though there was a lot of Ryan. Still.]
I'm glad to make you feel "~~warm inside"? Haha. It's a really hard balance, creating a character whom the reader will both be thoroughly annoyed with, and care about, and it definitely worked well here.
[This is what I mean. How do you make Ryan so loveable, but also make me want to slap him? He does it in real life, but so few people can make him do it in writing! ...you could always write more of this verse, with Ryan as the focus. *winkwink*]
Obviously I can't speak for yellsurprise, but hopefully she won't mind if I reply to this here.
And my honest answer on your question about the taboo is that I'm not totally sure. I'm slightly ashamed to say it never even occured to me to go down the line of addressing any homophobic issues there might be. Partly, I guess, that's a result of the fact that through the entirety of the writing, this story never really felt like a serious investigation or examination of the workings of the relationship - it was much more an oh hey, we like this idea, let's do that sort of deal. As such we were much more interested in the raw glamour of things as opposed to the controversial issues they related to. On the other hand, I think throught writing the entire story I (we?) had a slightly surreal, and exagerrated view of the characters, to the point where the social barriers were nowhere near as important to Audrey as the need to be better or at least as impressive as Alicia, and the general thesis of I am rich, I can do what I want.(Another reason, of

Thanks for explaining this! I hope I didn't give the impression that the story was missing something, because it felt so well-paced and treated... I was just curious! I will also admit I have a personal preference for fic that deals with the taboo of non-heterosexuality, heh. I absolutely see how that sort of thing, in this story, was not quite as important (or relevant) to Audrey as doing what she wants, and what she feels she needs to do. Man, it is hard to wrap my head around Audrey's priorities because I am so so removed from a lifestyle like that! Again, you two are amazing for being able to write so well about it.
takkatakkatakka already replied, but whatever. I had a half-formed response to this question when I read it first, but I never got around to replying, so here we go

I've given up on understanding how Audrey is just so lovable when she's such a prime bitch, but. It is what it is.
[I really, really do! I don't know how takkatakkatakka feels about it because she didn't get much of a chance to listen, but it's too awesome for her not to like it.]
