[he had made a simple detour in his usual route home, making his way to an empty park. it was getting late, so the kids that were usually playing had probably all gone home by now. without a word, the blond had approached the swings, intending to spend a few lonely and quiet hours there

[ blissfully unaware was right-- sharp eyes watched him in the distance, pondering what he should do now that he'd followed him this far. he had veered off course dramatically but something about the melancholy look on Kida's face told him the situation would offer him a good time, should he take the opportunity to pester, to pluck at worn-down heart strings. strings he'd played relentlessly in the past but never seemed to entirely lose their vigor. ]

Kind of a cool night, huh?

[ he commented casually, approaching from behind and taking a seat on the swing next to him as if it was what Kida should be expecting. ]

Are you feeling nostalgic?

[the swinging halted briefly at the sound of the other's voice. Kida gave an eyeroll before starting the swinging again]

Cool and refreshing if you ask me!

[he saw the other sit on the swing from the corner of his eye, but made no attempt to stop him. and when the question rang through his ears, he kept silent for a moment, before giving a reply]

[ he didn't swing himself, only watched Kida with a calm smile. ]

I think so, too. I just thought you might be cold. [ --he doesn't have a jacket to warm him after all, right? ]

Oh, yeah? What are you thinking about? [ Saki? or your other friends? ]

I'm not actually. Your concern is flattering though! [not like he would have worn the jacket anyways, if he had offered one...--]

[ The usual occurred: wake up, go to school, attend student council meetings, go home. Sometimes, he walked home with best his friend, but apparently, today was not one of those days. He couldn't say he was disappointed, but he couldn't say that he was happy about it either. But, he knew Masaomi had other things to attend to, so he never made a big deal out of it.

On his way home, he was walking past an empty park, however there was something that caught his attention right away. He'd recognize that dyed blond hair anywhere and how he would wear his uniform differently than everybody else by adding a hoodie underneath. So, this is the place Masaomi ran off to without him? Approaching his best friend from behind, he decided to give Masaomi a light push on his back to surprise him - or attempt to anyway. ]

[of course, the small push was indeed small, but still enough to gain Kida's attention] Huh?! [he twisted around to look at who had pushed him, only to see Mikado, and gave a grin] Oh! Mikado, it's only you! What're you doing here?

[his swinging stopped momentarily, his feet assisting in stopping him as he glanced to his friend] I figured you'd be home by now!

[ Mikado took a seat on the swing next to Masaomi. ]

That's what I should be asking you, Masaomi.

[ He rocked back and forth on the swing, but not enough to be "swinging". ]

Ah, the Student Council meeting took awhile, so . . .

[a sheepish laugh escaped him] There's nothing to worry about! ["I was just thinking."] I just took a minor detour from my usual route. [...] Oh... sorry for bailing on you, after school. I would have walked with you and Anri-chan, buuuut... we know how popular of a guy I can be!

[he started rocking back and forth on the swing as well]

Oh! Did it? Anything interesting happen?

[Amu was heading on her way home too when she spotted that someone was still at the park she just happened to be approaching. She was a bit surprised to see that someone was there at all especially at this time.

At first she thought it was Tadase because the blond hair instantly caught her attention but clearly it wasn't him or someone she knew exactly which was something she'd soon find out since the words just came out of her mouth]

It's kind of late out, isn't it?

[the blond perked, as he glanced towards the direction of the voice. he grinned when he saw the girl standing there, watching, and gave a wave]

Yeah, but I couldn't help myself! [he grinned some more] Wanna join me~?

Yeah, I guess. [Amu just blinks, surprised by the friendly response. He seemed nice enough? ]

Join you? Just like that? [Ahh, she kind of wanted to as too, but her outer character was screaming at her that this was too out of character for her. So much inner conflict...]

[he nods, motioning to the free swing next to him]

Just like that! [his grin is bigger now]
