How About ... (Photo)

Question for all you photography people. Do you have any suggestions for using macro mode on small objects? By small I mean an inch tall or so. I have all these gee whiz cool minis that I'd like to photograph and seem to be a klutz when it comes to make the objects look clear. Light, light, light and light. Take pictures of small things bathed in natural light as much as possible. Make sure you don't get any closer than the focal point (for instance, I can't take a shot any closer than one centimeter).

Rest your camera on something and use the timer. Your hand shake is often the culprit (I know it is for mine) for blurring up-close pictures. If you don't have a tri-pod, a brick or an edge or a pile of books--anything that's not you holding the camera will do. Using the timer just double ensures there's no camera shake even from snapping the pic.

Otherwise, it all depends on how good your camera is. Some cameras just aren't made to take very good close-up shots.

Very helpful, Mel! Thanks! I hadn't thought of using the timer, but I have been using the tripod.
