so i have this problem with my mouse moving on it's own and clicking on things when i am not even touching the mouse. closing windows and opening new ones. it also clicked on the start menu and almost shut down my computer. has anyone heard of such a thing happening or know of any way to fix this problem? thanks.

maybe your mousepad is on a slant? that happens to me sometimes. it just rolls by itself. except mine doesn't click stuff. weird. maybe your computer is haunted.

yea my mouse pad is deffinatly not the problem. last night i watched it try and change my settings in my e-mail accout. i stopped it before it did though. it could just be a freak thing but it looked like the mouse was moving with purpose.

Do you have a wireless mouse/keyboard? Does the problem occur if you are connected to the internet? Via mouse or network?

Wireless: could be getting random signal from somewhere else.

Network: could be the work of an outside force... some sort of application on the computer...

Other than these, no idea... maybe try another mouse?

it happens even when the internet is unplugged.

i ran my norton anti-virus and i'm clean.

i do have a wireless mouse and i unplugged it then plugged it back in this morning and so far so good. but who knows.

scratch that it just moved on it's own again.

Hrm... my best guess then is that you are getting interference that is causing the mouse to go all whack...

If it has the option, you might try adjusting the channel that the mouse uses...
