For most people, Christmas meant family, friends, presents under the tree.
But for Leon, Christmas had lost its sparkle years ago. It was drunken cops wearing goofy hats in desperate attempts to forget the horrors of everyday life.
This year, however, was different. He had family, friends, everything he’d thought he’d never have again. As he stepped into D’s shop, he smelled pine needles, cinnamon, and fresh baked cookies beneath the ever-present incense.
Chris wrapped his arms around him in enthusiastic greeting. “Welcome home!”
“Merry Christmas, Detective,” D murmured, holding a box of decorations. “Would you care to join us?”
