I am trying to read book 2 of Game of Thrones...it's slow going. It doesnt help that it has been at least 7 years since I read the first one and couldn't make it through the first season of the HBO series. I read the first GoT book in 2014 and decided then that I couldn't read more of them. It's the most depressing book, and anyone/anything with any goodness to them is destroyed. I've watched a few clips from the TV series, but otherwise I know I wouldn't want to watch it either.

I reread The Hobbit this year. ;)

I'm glad it's not just me!

Prim, what did you think of The Hobbit movies? I loved the first one, and Smaug, but I'm sad to say overall I got a little fatigued with them.

I wanted to love The Hobbit movies, but I didn't really. It was nice to be back in Middle-earth, but those movies are not Lord of the Rings caliber. They still made a lot of money, though.

One thing about Peter Jackson's group of filmmakers, they don't edit well. They are creative, but once they come up with a new idea, they put everything in the movies without regard to how well it works. That makes them bloated, IMO. I couldn't even watch King Kong for that reason. I got up and left the theater before it ended.

I also felt that once they decided to "expand" the Hobbit, they just kept stuffing more in. I liked King Kong well enough, but the only part I truly enjoyed was in the middle. Don't remember anything after that! I guess I could have left too. :)
