Ugh I HATE Thanksgiving. I've never liked it. Even as a kid. Sure there were years as a kid that we had certain traditions that were fun, but the holiday itself not so much ( Read more... )

Oh wow! I would be SO pissed if someone sprang Thanksgiving on me at the last minute like that! That's ridiculous. I did dinner at my house last year and started making stuff for sure on Wednesday morning. I had all my shopping done the weekend before. It's totally tough to throw Thanksgiving together at the last minute. Ugh for you.

I know what you mean about it being a lot of work. I love making and eating all the Thanksgiving foods, but it's SOOOO much work for 30 minutes of eating.

To be honest I'm really just PISSED at my husband. I blame his poor planning for the last minute bs. Realistically most of the stuff I'm making is maybe 1-2 hours tops in the oven. And most of it can be shoved in at the same time.

He's in charge of the turkey, which may become a turkey breast and frozen chicken pieces from the freezer. We have a 'roasting crock pot' so he'll put it on tonite and it should cook overnite.

It's just the messy house, idiot husband, and i'm not exactly suzy homemaker.

IT's also REALLY annoying because if I don't have a decent amount of leftovers I still will have to cook for shabbos. ugh

OMG this is like my worst nightmare! And you have my deepest sympathies. People in my disaster of a house, doing all the last minute prep work and cooking so I can't enjoy the company, shopping this late in the day!!! EEEGGH!!

I strong armed my MiL into finalizing Thanksgiving at the beginning of September.

You can always just make turkey and tell everyone else to bring sides. You don't have to do it all.

That is awful! You can't plan for, shop for and clean for an entire Thanksgiving meal in one or two days! What is he thinking? Oh, wait it doesn't matter to him because he isn't doing any of it? Do they (men) really think that all that work happens as if by magic? I am so sorry!
