my grandfather died this morning. i was really terribly close to him. if i am ever half the man he was at his worst hour, i'll be one of the greatest individuals.
Not so smart kids reading all too intelligent pieces.unauthorizedbioAugust 3 2004, 23:38:33 UTC
This poem by Donne is a love poem between a man and a woman. You cannot take the points in it and relate it to family unless you have sexual relations with them. You need to read and understand what you read and trying out Donne isnt the best place to start. You are way too over your head with that poem, and most of his work and all the metaphysical poets for that fact. Read out of the 1600's era when he was born and try some modern writings. You can relate what you want to it and im sorry about the death but the context of the poem is the sexual drive between a man and a woman (the compass analogy) and the love between them (a love so much refined we know not what it is..). Its called comprehensive reading.
