With three chapters finished, that means that we've reached the half-way point in the book! (Pretty much exactly half-way btw.)  There are some sweet moments in this chapter that I hope made it worth the wait.

To the treasure... )

Thank you so much for the chapter. I like the build up to his big reveal at the end. It's given me a very different impression than the manga (not that I'm complaining about the manga), and I feel like I'm getting more of the party's personalities from reading your translation.

Thanks again : D

I completely understand what you're saying - three chapters into the book, and the same place in the manga hasn't even cleared the first chapter XD They're two very different mediums.

I found the characters' little asides in the manga really funny, but of course, it's aimed at fans of the light novel series who've finished reading the entire story so new readers would have to make certain jumps of logic in order to make sense of some things.

Aww, how sweet, Arc. : "Thinking of the party’s harmony, it’s only reasonable I consider Uru’s feelings first.” And before that, he's going to travel with Uru by himself even before the rest of the party decides to join.

It's interesting how Arc (both in the novel and the manga) is able to deal with Uru's fixation on him -- part is that Uru is very sincere instead of flattering, and the other part is that he tells himself that Uru isn't sexually mature. It's kind of sad and funny at the same time (esp. when Arc learns Uru is 70+ years old).

LOL at Uru being so close-lipped. I guess he's not used to thinking about what vulnerable humans need to know about monsters, as his abilities are very different.

I must admit I sometimes wonder what direction their relationship and the story would have taken if Ark and Uru had gone on their solo expedition. But on the other hand, both of their interactions with others helped them to develop and mature both socially and individually, so it could never really have happened. Still, it's nice to imagine. And that's what fanfic is all about, really =3

Ark does tend to have a kind of 'I'll look the other way provided you abide by some unspecified code of honour ' policy and when you analyse his behaviour, Uru has already gained some special significance to Ark. But yes, the funny thing is his own self-analysis comes up with Uru basically being so young X3 Which he technically may be, but 72 years of life experience doesn't count for nothing XD

Uru vaguely reminds me of Shino from ‘Eerie Queerie!’ in that they're both reticent characters, although in Uru's case I'd say it was mostly his personality. It intrigued their partners all the same though. I'll leave the rest of the question unanswered, ( ... )
