So I've been listening to The Martian audiobook for the past couple of weeks, in anticipation of the upcoming movie, which Sebastian Stan is in (among other people, just, y'know, a bunch of Oscar winning and Oscar nominated actors, whatever). Hmm, did the audio book cut out the epilogue? Because there's one in the edition I read (which I think was his self-released version, so the pro published version might be different.)

I think the pro published version must be different then! My audiobook ended with Mark's musings on humanity and him saying something like "this is the happiest day of my life." I think I've seen some interviews where Weir says there were edits between the self-pub and pro versions, though apparently nothing significant plot-wise.

Huh! It was pretty brief -- basically him back on earth, taking a lunch break and musing while in the middle of helping train the next Mars crew. He basically muses on how he's quite happy to stay on this planet, having given space enough chances to kill him. I think a little girl recognizes him. Nothing much happened, but it showed the team got back.
