Is this supposed to be positive? I mean, I see where it is supposed to be, but to me it sounds sorta like "Here is your 10 year old Cuban refugee. Please don't make any loud noises, as it reminds him of gunfire, and please don't mention Castro, it gives him nightmares. Praise him often to help build up his confidence, and remember, it took a lot of courage to hop on that boat and come here."

Like, you're abused puppies or something.

"Common sense isn't." Things that seem painfully obvious to people like you and me require reminding in a lot of people. I would assume that this is especially targeting people who are perfectly willing to be accepting, but were brought up in a way that makes it so that certain things don't even cross their minds.

I can't say what my reaction to your other articles would be without having read them. Please understand, I'm not trying to say they are bad, I guess to me it just seems like a "Care and Feeding of your GLBT" type thing. I acknowledge that it's a good thing to do, because some people *don't* get it...

I guess maybe the reason this article struck me in the way that it did is because I don't need to be told these things (they're largely instinctive in my world), so to me it seemed a bit condescending. I agree, however, that there are people who need to hear them, so good for you for making them heard.

If any of your other articles are online, I'd be interested in reading them.
