In an effort to use up the rest of my box of Royal Riviera pears, I made pearsauce. That's like applesauce, but with pears--plus a little cinnamon, nutmeg and almond extract. Then I ate the remaining two pears with some dried cranberries and crumbled gorgonzola. Yum ( Read more... )

I have found that getting rid of the stuff in the pantry is harder than the stuff in the fridge/freezer. I'm not sure when or why I went on a canned vegetable rampage. Ronette and I feel vindicated with every can I open for a meal. I think next week will be all about using the canned beans and spinach. And why do I have 5 packages of rice noodles? All the same size.

Probably the same reason I have 4 boxes of cornbread and 6 boxes of cake mix. I've got some rice noodles, too, though only one package. And the canned vegetables? You're right on. It's like I was expecting nuclear winter.

Up
