Fanfic: (Ryoda) Hatsu Koi Chp 1
Title: Hatsu Koi (Chapter 1)

Summary: Ueda just transferred to a new high school. Someone takes an interest in him but he is in denial.

"My name's Nakamaru Yuichi. What's yours?" the guy asked.
"I'm Ueda Tatsuya. Yoroshiku onegai shimasu~" Ueda answered.
"Why did you transfer to this school?" Nakamaru asked tactlessly.
"My father's company shifted location, and this school is nearer to our new house, so..." Ueda explained.
"Uwah~ You sound like a rich kid!" Nakamaru teased.
Ueda smiled in response and looked around his new classroom. It was his final year in high school, and he was hoping to enter a reputable university. He was grateful to be asked by the teacher to sit at the empty seat next to Nakamaru, who seemed nice.
The bell rang, and everyone packed their books away.
"Eh.. Is it lunch now?" Ueda asked, confused by the time table in his hand.
"Yep!" Maru nodded. "Let's go to the cafeteria, I'm starving!"
Maru headed out and Ueda hastened to follow him, books and notes still in his hands. He stuffed them in his bag whilst walking without looking up and banged on someone, dropping his books and notes.
"I'm so sorry!" the guy said, kneeling down to help gather Ueda's things.
Ueda did the same. "Iya iya, it was my fault, I.."
Ueda stopped talking as the guy's hand brushed his and he felt his eyes on him. He looked up, staring at the good-looking boy.
"Doumo. I'm Nishikido Ryo. You are.. ?" the guy asked.
"Ah, I'm Ueda Tatsuya. I just transferred here today." Ueda replied.
Nishikido gave him a small smile and handed him his notes.
"Which class are you in?" Ryo asked, looking curious.
"Um.. 3-B. Nishikido-san?" Ueda asked in return.
"No no, just call me Ryo. In return, I'll call you Tatsuya. Is that okay?" Ryo said, smiling.
"Hai." Ueda answered quietly, looking down at the floor.
"I'm in 3-A. Which means my class is right next to yours!" Ryo replied and stood up. He held out a hand which Ueda took, and helped him up.
"Thanks." Ueda muttered.
Suddenly, Maru butted in. "Ueda? Ue- eh there you are!"
Maru pulled Ueda along, leaving Ryo behind smiling at him.
They sat at a table in the cafeteria, eating pasta.
"Ne, why were you talking to Ryo just now? Do you know him?" Maru asked, eyes wide.
"No, I bumped into him while you were rushing to the cafeteria." Ueda answered with a lame look.
"Mou~ Gomen ne! I haven't eaten anything since last night.. Anyway, Ryo's a very popular guy here! All the girls like him. Maybe if you become friends with him, girls will like you too!" Maru giggled, munching on his food.
"Eh~ Is he nice? He seems nice.." Ueda asked out of curiosity.
"Yep he's kind, good-looking and hard-working. That's why the girls like him. He's never dated any of the girls here though. There's a rumour that he has a girlfriend from another school, but no one knows for sure." Maru explained.
"I see.." Ueda said, finishing up his food.
After school, Ueda was walking home when Ryo suddenly came to his side.
"Yo!" Ryo said, smiling widely.
"Hello." Ueda replied, giving him a small smile and bowing slightly.
"Do you live near?" Ryo asked.
"Yep. I'm just a few blocks away." Ueda answered.
"Souka~ Ne, will you come and play at my house tomorrow? We have no school because of the teachers' conference, so.." Ryo suggested.
"Eh? Is that okay?" Ueda asked hesitantly.
"Of course of course! Will you come? I can fetch you if you'd like, since you don't know where I live." Ryo proposed.
"Mm, okay!" Ueda agreed with a smile.
Ryo smiled back happily.
"Well, this is my house." Ueda said, stopping in front of the brown gate.
"Uwah~ You must be rich!" Ryo teased, looking at the big house.
Ueda laughed lightly, waving goodbye to the new friend he had made.

"Jaaang~ This is my house. Make yourself at home!" Ryo said, motioning for Ueda to enter the house.
"Maa it's not as big as your house though.." Ryo teased.
"But it's nice!" Ueda gushed, looking around the living room. "Where is your family?"
"Work, school.. You know." Ryo answered. "Here, sit on the sofa."
Ueda sat on the black sofa and Ryo sat beside him. He switched on the TV and they watched some variety shows, talking and laughing, discovering things about each other.
"Ne," Ueda started, turning to face Ryo.
But Ryo crushed his lips onto Ueda's, his left hand touching his jaw.
Wait.. What's going on here?! Ueda thought, confused.
He pushed Ryo away and panted as he caught his breath.
"What are you doing?" Ueda asked quietly.
Ryo moved closer, wrapping his arms around Ueda. "I like you. When I first saw you yesterday.. I fell for you straight away."
Ueda blinked, unable to believe what Ryo was saying.
"Wha-..? But.. You're so popular with the girls, I don't understand.."
"Can't you understand? I don't like them 'cause I'm gay. I like you, not them." Ryo explained.
"This is too sudden," Ueda declared, standing up and making a move to leave.
Ryo caught his arm. "I'll show you my love is real."
Ueda shook his hand free and left the house.
That night, he dreamt of Ryo kissing him tenderly.

He clicked the 'send' button and received a reply almost immediately.

Ueda groaned and lied to the teacher about not feeling well. He was then asked to go to the nurse's room. Ueda went out of the classroom and searched for the staircase leading to the rooftop. He found it within minutes and slowly climbed up.
Ueda saw Ryo lying on a bench, facing the sky. He approached Ryo, who sat up when he saw Ueda.
"Thanks for coming." Ryo said with a grateful smile. He motioned for Ueda to sit next to him on the bench.
Ueda complied and sat beside Ryo, keeping a distance between them.
"So what was so important that you had to ask me to skip class and meet you?" Ueda asked.
Ryo moved quickly, and before Ueda knew it, Ryo was kissing him hard, his hands around him tight.
This time, Ueda was too tired to push him away. Ryo broke the kiss after a while and smiled at him, placing a hand over Ueda's shoulder and looking at the clear, endless sky.

During lunch time, Ueda searched for Nakamaru in the cafeteria. He found him sitting at a table with a burger in his hand.
"Maru~" Ueda called.
"Ueda! Are you okay now?" Maru asked, taking a bite of his burger.
"Mm." Ueda nodded.
"That's good then. You wanna have my fries?" Maru offered.
Ueda took a few and ate them up. Suddenly, the whole cafeteria went silent and stared at the door, which was facing Ueda's back. Even Maru stopped halfway from biting his burger.
Ueda turned around, curious.
Ryo walked into the cafeteria with a girl, holding hands.
