Oh, this is marvelous! This story is an absolute delight, as is your Florian. It's so nice to see him give Ray back a bit of his own, but it's nicer still to see them together, with the possibility of a reasonably content future together.

Will you be posting this to the higuriyou and gorgeous_carat comms?
If not, may I recommend the fic there?

I confess I had no idea there were such comms! I just started reading the manga (which I adore) and this is my first GC story. So I'd be delighted if you linked to it on those comms, or recommended it there. In the meantime, thank you so much for your kind comments; I agree that it's fun to see Florian in charge for once...but there's no way I'd leave them apart. They belong together!

Thanks again.

P.S.
Once our real names are revealed, I'll be able to thank you properly.

Thank you! I've posted the link on both comms. Welcome to the gc fandom - it's small and rather quiet, but seems to be growing. It would be wonderful to see you write more with Ray and Florian - not just a continuation of this piece (which would be a great read) but perhaps stories with the other characters as well. I'll look forward to more of your stories or even gc discussion - it seems to have eaten my brain while Cantarella has won over most of my friends.
Thanks again for such a great story!

Wow! You're reading my mind. I LOVE that painting, and yes, that's exactly the feeling I was after...except Ray's decline has a wry edge to it, and there's no way he's going down without a fight.

So glad you liked this...I confess it was a pleasure to write, because Florian having the last word has always been a particular kink of mine. Thanks for the lovely feedback!

At first, I have to say, I felt a bit sad at seeing Ray in such a sorry state, but I loved the way how Florian's presence didn't only lighten up the mood of the fic (Ray alone was just ... bleak, but Ray brought down and Florian in a position to gloat was, I don't know, quite enjoyable and somewhat fun?) but also brought a certain spark back to Ray.

Florian's revelation about who'd bought Ray's house was priceless, but Florian's revelation (or perhaps I should say: Ray's deduction) about how he'd paid for it was even better - I was grinning very widely by the time I got to that part of the fic. Loved the 'emerald eyes' comment, too.

The "eyes as gems" aspect of GC has always made me laugh -- it's so over-the-top, as are all the "people as types of jewels" references. So I figured it was time Florian (who's probably sick to death of Ray calling his eyes "priceless amethysts) to get his own back.

In any case, thanks for feeding the author. I'm delighted you enjoyed this -- I'm a great fan of your writing, and it's a pleasure to hear such nice things from you.

Ha, it's nice to see Florian be so clever! I feel bad for Ray though, but not too bad.

Exactly - I wanted Florian to smack him silly...and then kiss him senseless.

Thank you so much for commenting!

... *dies in happiness* I was a bit put out by the reversal, but you did a good job. This is a unique point of view.

Thanks for saying it's unique. I always did like stories where there's a surprise, and I'm glad it worked for you.
