Oh, wow. I'm always sort of lukewarm on Vincent, but you do a great job of keeping him from sinking into self-pity, and I just adore your take on Cid. His envy of Chaos in flight just took my breath away, and it's something I don't think I've ever seen in other fic.

You rock. ♥

Thank you. I love Cid, he's such a breath of fresh air.

Cid envying Chaos is something I've wanted to do for a long time. I kind of want to write a follow-up with xeno touches. In my, you know, copious free time. ^^

oh god yes. Um. This is the Cid and Vincent that I've always wanted to write but my Cid and Vincent were too busy swearing over the Bronco to actually give me. Cid's rough but not too loud, Vincent's sad but not emo, and somewhere in between they manage to find something that works, fitting into each other's empty spaces. <3!

Thanks! Cid/Vincent was one of my early loves -- I haven't done much with it since getting ambushed by Reeve/Vincent, but rough edges and lots of silences and finding something that works anyway, yes. There's so much to play with there.

You have got to be the most prolific person like, ever. Anyway, this was great. Most of what I like about Cid/Vincent is that Cid would keep Vincent from the angst trap, and you get that across great here. Also, this is made sheer awesome just from the fact that Cid prefers tea and drinks coffee only as a last resort. Love it when characters go against type. Thank you for this.

This challenge was definitely an eyes-bigger-than-stomach experience, but it seems more or less to have worked out. :D

Thanks! I'm really glad you liked it -- the prompt really stood out for me, because I love the 'this isn't perfect but it's enough' theme for this pairing.

So much shiny. I'm almost jealous of the sheer awesome you produce so often.

That was awesome, you made me happy.
I really liked the scene where Chaos turned back into Vincent and Cid caught him. That was cute, and i think it showed that even when stripped down to base instincts Chaos knew to go to Cid for comfort when something as wrong. ^_^

Thanks! I like the idea of Vincent having a vulnerable moment right after transforming -- it must be a disorienting experience.
