It's beautiful and poignant and it's what I want to say to anyone who beleives in things like Proposition 8. I doubt it would do much, if any, good to say it to any of those people, but I am happy he put exactly what I am thinking into words I could never do.

Pretty much my sentiments exactly. I have never understood why this is an issue. If your religion frowns on it, then don't have a gay marriage yourself. Problem solved. Meanwhile, my priest is happy to marry gay couples and my religion has absolutely zilch to say about the topic, or marriage at all actually. It's considered pretty much a civil thing.

When will people stop trying to make this country in to a theocracy?

I just don't understand why people want to push their beliefs on other people. I don't believe in God, but you don't see me trying to convince people that my belief is right. *sigh*

Good job, Keith, you rule. Seriously, when will people get that their religion can't run the government. That just because they believe it to be the absolute truth, that not everyone does, and shouldn't have to abide by another's religious laws. Why can't they just leave people alone?

Thanks for the post, I'm glad I saw this! :)

I think I've got less tolerant of idiots as I get older. I know WHY some people are prejudiced and have these opinions and in the past I'd have tried to be more understanding, but I've found lately I just don't have time for people with ridiculous preconceptions and utterly unfounded prejudices. When I read about Proposition 8 I had to go and have a massive rant at my poor mother (not at her personally, but just in the general direction) to vent my frustration.

He said it all very well.

I know. But like... my parents grew up in the segregated South. They had separate schools for black and white students, separate resturants, busses, etc etc. But my parents aren't racist idiots and they haven't raised me as such so I never buy into that whole "oh well that's how I was raised" bullshit. It's just a copout and it fucking pisses me off.
