They have built a new Yankee Stadium right next to the old stadium. I'm all about Yankee history, but the old stadium is really a big piece of crap. It's got such history and wonderful memories, but it's not very 2008. The new stadium is very similar to the old one, and it's still called Yankee Stadium, so I'm mostly happy. They've kept alot of the true magic of the old stadium and my boys will start to make new memories in the new one next year.
They will be tearing the old stadium down for parking, I believe. All the Monument Park and the like will transfer to the new stadium.
I was a huge Yankees fan when I was younger, so it touches me too. Even though I used to live in New York, I never got a chance to see a game, but I've been by there lots of times and well, I hope you get to go to the new stadium soon!
I'm not even a Yankee fan, but I'm still kicking myself that I didn't get out there sooner to see a game. That place is legendary to any baseball fan :(
I never see the point of building a new stadium, why not just revamp the old one? You're doing away with so much history and if it's not even moving far from where the original one is...
That's what I like about OT, despite the fact it's obviously been modernized and the stands have massively changed over the years, it's still the same stadium on the same spot and there's still the old tunnel where the Busby Babes ran out onto the pitch. Nothing could ever replace that. I bet most City fans, for instance, are gutted at the City of Manchester stadium...thay can't fill it anyway and where the old Main Road used to be they're building this housing estate or something, it's awful!

Haha I've never seen that movie, but yes, that's what it is about.
Is baseball very big over there? Or is it more of a "everyone knows about the Yankees" sort of thing?
