I only managed to avoid fish & chips because my flatmates made a pasta dinner. Mmmm, starch. ;)
Pohutukawas are lovely things. They're also known as "New Zealand Christmas trees" because they start blooming in earnest just before the end of December. The colour combination is what gets me - I'm not used to seeing such a bright red flower against such a blue sky, especially when part of me is convinced it should be winter.
