Kimi no Te ga Sasayaite iru
Third Installment (1999)
The first plot of this episode is about Chizuru having a high fever and Mieko wasn't able to call the ambulance by herself. Panicking, Mieko asked the neighbor's help.
In the hospital, Mieko also can't understand the doctor's explanation and in replace of her, her mother listened to what the doctor and the nurse has to say.
Mieko feels hopeless, as Chizuru's mother she feel like she can't do anything for her. She told her mother that she will go back home to bring Chizuru's clothes. At home, Mieko starts to think maybe its better if just her mother who stay with Chizuru at the hospital since she can't do anything anyway.
As Mieko has gone for so long, Hirofumi went home and found Mieko crying and sitting on the floor. He told Mieko, "What are you doing? Chizuru needs you at the hospital! She kept calling 'mama, mama'...". Mieko is surprised. Hirofumi said, "How boring it is to be a father. I've came all the way from the office to the hospital in a hurry. But as I arrived there, she kept calling 'mama'. I wish she'd call 'papa' just once,". Mieko laughed.
After Chizuru got better they bring her to the zoo. In the zoo, Chizuru saw a boy whispered something to his mother. Chizuru asked Hirofumi what they're doing. Hirofumi answered they must be talking about a secret, something they don't want other people to hear. Chizuru said, "Chizuru want to do that! Chizuru want to talk secret with mama!". And then she whispered to Mieko. Hirofumi told Chizuru to stop that and she cried. Trying to calm her down, Hirofumi brought her to see monkeys. Mieko only watch them from afar, feeling sad.
From afar, Hirofumi told Mieko to talk to Chizuru in sign language and he pointed at the boy who was pointing at them earlier and saying that what they're doing(talking in sign language) is weird. Mieko understood what he's getting at. Mieko told Chizuru in sign language that the boy looks like the monkey they were looking at. Chizuru laughed and answered back with sign language, "yes he does". Hirofumi said to Chizuru, "See?? You can also talk secret with mama that way,". (Hirofumi is such a great papa and husband *v*)
Chizuru used to ask Mieko to make bento boxes and form a rabbit face with the foods. And she always asked Mieko to eat the rabbit bento too. In the zoo, she kept looking at the rabbits as well. In the ferris wheel, Hirofumi asked Chizuru why does she like rabbit that much. Chizuru said also with sign language, "Datte... if mama can have long ears like a rabbit, her ears will be healed too, deshou??". Mieko is so moved by that and hugged Chizuru.
As Chizuru starts elementary school, Hirofumi suddenly has to be transferred to Sendai for a few years. At first Hirofumi decided that he won't bring Mieko and Chizuru with him, but Mieko insisted. So they moved to Sendai. In Sendai, Chizuru's male friends bullied her because she has a weird mother who cannot talk properly. For the day where parents are invited to the class to see their children take lessons, Chizuru asked Hirofumi to come, she doesn't want Mieko to come. Mieko was shocked and she finally found out what Chizuru had been going through in school. She feels really bad for Chizuru. Hirofumi feels quite painful about this, but he can't do anything about it, as the bad ones are only little boys.
In school, Chizuru attacked the boys back, since they kept saying her mother is weird. The teacher separated them and held a discussion in the class. Each student's opinions were asked. All of Chizuru's female friends said what the boys did were terrible. So the boys finally apologized to Chizuru.
Hirofumi and Mieko talked about it and they agreed that Hirofumi will be the one who go to the parents day. When they told Chizuru about that, suddenly Chizuru asked Mieko to come. Mieko kept asking will it be alright. Chizuru insisted for her mother to come. So on the day, Mieko and Hirofumi came together.
In the class, Chizuru read her essay titled "My Mother". While reading it, Chizuru also did the sign language so her mother would understand. "My Mother. Nobe Chizuru. My mother's ears cannot hear. The other day, fellow classmates here says that my mother is kawaisou. But I don't think my mother is kawaisou. Although she cannot hear, but she is beautiful, she cooks very delicious, and fashionable. When she's angry, she looks scarier than my father. But my father loves my mother very much. And I also love my mother as much as my father does. The End." Of course, Mieko were in tears already when Chizuru was done reading. (I cried too XD I didn't expect Chizuru would do the sign language too in the class, so touching^^)
Fourth Installment (2000)
It is 3 years later. The Nobe family has moved back to Tokyo. One day, Chizuru saw Mieko was almost hit by a motorbike at a shopping district. Since then Chizuru became paranoid and tried her best to come home from school before her mother goes grocery shopping at the market so she can accompany her. When they were visiting Mieko's parents house, Chizuru asked her grandmother why Mieko cannot hear. Her grandmother said, "I've been trying to look for the answer for so long. But I couldn't find it. However, I believe that God has chosen Mieko for a reason. She is someone chosen by God,".
Some days later, although Chizuru came home earlier she couldn't find Mieko anywhere and she got panicked. Suddenly Mieko and Hirofumi's mother came into the house, Chizuru cried and yelled, "Mama no baka!". Of course they were shocked. When Hirofumi came home, he tried to talk to Chizuru and she finally told him about her witnessing her mother almost hit by a bike. Knowing that Chizuru is worried about her, Mieko tried to do something about it.
On one Sunday, Mieko took Hirofumi and Chizuru to the forest, mountain area where she used to live with her parents when she was a child. Then she told Chizuru her childhood story. One time, Mieko's mother fell ill and couldn't move. Then she ran through the forest to the nearest house in the area asking for help, it was raining hard that time and she fell on the mud a few times, but she kept going. The person she asked help for couldn't understand what she said of course. But then Mieko tried to snatch away an ambulance toy in the house and pointed at the telephone, so the person understand that she's asking their help to call the ambulance. And so her mother was saved. Mieko tried to get her point across to Chizuru, that she has lived until now being deaf, she has gone through alot as a deaf person, so she's a veteran in this. So she'll be fine and Chizuru doesn't has to worry about her.
The next plot is about Chizuru's first love ^_^ Mieko registered Chizuru for an afterschool-English lesson class. At first, Mieko thought Chizuru would get bored fast, but to her surprise, Chizuru always go to the English class in a hurry and she seems having fun. Later, Mieko realized Chizuru has found her first love in that English class.
Chizuru is getting along well with the boy, Shunta-kun. One day, Shunta told Chizuru that his mother is a pianist and he want Chizuru and her mother come to his mother's piano concert. Chizuru couldn't bring herself to tell the boy the truth about her mother. Suddenly she stop going to English class. Mieko tried to find out what happened and asked the English teacher but the teacher said there was nothing wrong with Chizuru as far as she knows. In the English class place, Shunta bumped into Mieko and Mieko found out he is Shunta from the book that has his name on it.
Hirofumi and Mieko tried to talk to Chizuru of why she's not going to the English class anymore. Then Mieko told Chizuru that Shunta seem to be a good boy. Chizuru was surprised, "Ehh?? You met Shunta-kun? Does he know you're my mother? Does he know you can't hear??". That's when Hirofumi and Mieko realized of what's going on. Chizuru ran to her room and Hirofumi knocked the door asking what's that suppose to mean. But Mieko stopped him and told him she understands Chizuru's feelings.
Few days later, Chizuru apologized to Mieko, "I'm sorry that I didn't tell Shunta-kun about mama. I'm very sorry. I feel sad too, because I love you just as much as papa does,". Mieko cried to hear that. Chizuru finally told Shunta the truth about her mother. Shunta was okay about it but he feels sad that Chizuru and her mother won't come to her mother's concert. Chizuru tried to ask Mieko about it and Mieko agreed to come, so they came to the piano concert together. (seriously?? This is where Sena played piano in Long Vacation!! XD I've seen this concert hall so many times already in Nodame, Suna no Utsuwa, Mr.Brain XD Doesn't Tokyo has any other piano concert hall other than this one? lol.)
Mieko was in tears all of the sudden. (hhh, you're such a crybaby, Mieko XD) Chizuru asked, "Mama, are you okay? Do you wanna go home?". Mieko shook her head, "This is my dream to come to a place like this. And thanks to Chizuru, finally my dream comes true,".
The next story is about Hirofumi's problem at the office. His superior never let him work overtime, because he knows he has a deaf wife waiting for him to come home. Although Hirofumi said its totally okay for him to work overtime but his superior insisted and he will ask the other to work overtime. One of his junior (who is a bastard XD) talked to him, "I've heard. You have a deaf wife? Wow, then its like you're a volunteer? I can't do that, naaa... I can't marry someone just because sympathy,". Hirofumi held back his anger and his senior told the junior, "Stop that. We won't know whether or not he got married out of sympathy,". The junior answered, "That's right, I guess. But its true that your wife is holding your steps back right? You're in a position now where you can't go up anymore in this company,". Hirofumi's colleague was about to smack that junior down but Hirofumi stopped him.
Hirofumi came home and then he unusually hugged and kissed Mieko. Mieko was giggling, "What's going on?? You're suddenly being so nice to me. Are you having an affair??". Hirofumi laughed, "Of course not!".
Since then, Mieko finally noticed that there's something on Hirofumi's mind. When Hirofumi lost in the work competition, it stressed him even more. In some nights, when Mieko opened her eyes, Hirofumi would suddenly gone and she found him on the terrace looking into space. This reminds Mieko of when Hirofumi was in stress when his parents were against their marriage. At times like these, Mieko never has the courage to talk to him. She finally found out what Hirofumi has been going through from his colleague.
On Sunday, when Chizuru was going out with her friends, Hirofumi said to Mieko, "Then let's go on a date, just the two of us,". They went to a park. Mieko tried to gather her courage to ask of what happened. Hirofumi was thinking of quitting his job and find a better place. But Mieko disagree. Hirofumi seem to be offended, "Don't say that easily!".
One day, Mieko left a letter in Hirofumi's bag. She apologized about the last time. But she still want to say what she feels. The bottom line is she would be okay. She doesn't want to see Hirofumi pushing himself too much, just for her. The letter made Hirofumi feel better.
The last scene of this episode... I feel it's too much, and unnatural (norak, tepatnya =P). Hirofumi told Mieko and Chizuru to come to the place where he proposed to Mieko and there he told Mieko that he is happy and that he is glad he married her. So he wants to propose Mieko once again asking her to be by his side forever and ever... *rolling eyes* ara maa... such a soap-ish scene, lol.
In overall, this episode is my least fave. It has some of my favorite quotes and scenes, but very little. Takeda Shinji doesn't look that good either in this episode, he look so tanned and I don't like his hairstyle. Some of his acting were unnatural here... but then again, he performed unnatural acting here and there in every episode XD
I feel like watching Suna no Utsuwa again now. How was Takeda Shinji's acting in that drama? I totally forgot coz I focused too much on Nakai only XD And if I remember correctly, there was a behind-the-scene clip I have where Nakai was teasing Takeda Shinji and seem like Nakai was getting along pretty well with him on the set. He seem to be the "Nakamura Toru" type, quiet but fun-to-tease^^
Final Installment (2001)
I like this episode. Takeda Shinji looks alot more handsome here than the fourth episode^^ His hairstyle is kakkoii and he's not tanned anymore. Plus, I love how he portrayed Hirofumi here with so much youth acts that he looks more like Chizuru's oniichan rather than otousan XD (although it was like a sudden change of character^^;;;)Miho's hairstyle here looks good too, but then she always look beautiful in every episode anyway. Chizuru looked so bigger now. Yappari children grows so fast ne. I kept wishing they'd cast "Shizuku"(Yagi Yuki), the little girl in Bara no nai Hanaya, to be Chizuru. Surely, the family would look more lovely XD Too bad, "Shizuku" was born in 2000^^
Takeda Shinji was 29 and Kanno Miho was 24 in this episode, as much as Miho looks like a mother already, but they still look too young to have 12 years old child XD Something just doesn't fit around that part.
In this episode, it's Chizuru's start being a teenager. She started to talk to her friends on the phone every night and she start to frequently stay over at her friend's house. Chizuru used to tell Mieko everything about her daily days at school, but she has stopped doing that lately. One night, Mieko observed Chizuru who was talking to her friend on the phone. She really wants to know why she seem so happy talking on the phone, but when Mieko asked what she just talked about, Chizuru didn't want to answer. Mieko is thinking that normal mothers would easily know what she talked about on the phone. She feel like Chizuru has becoming harder to understand.
One night when Chizuru was staying over at her friend's house, Mieko found Chizuru's diary. She think that this is her chance to know what's in Chizuru's mind. She know that this is something she shouldn't do. But she was trying to convince herself that this is okay because unlike the other mothers she cannot hear. But then she remembered how she has promised Chizuru that she would never read Chizuru's diary. She immediately close the book, but a rabbit seal fell off from the book.
The next day, Chizuru saw the rabbit seal on the floor and she was so angry thinking that her mother must have read her diary. She ran out of the house crying. Mieko ran after her on the street but she disappeared from her sight. When it's getting dark, she came home but Chizuru was nowhere to be found. Mieko panicked and cried. When the lights were on she was happy thinking that its Chizuru, but apparently its Hirofumi. She broke down in front of Hirofumi and he asked her what's going on but Mieko is being hysterical, Hirofumi tried to calm her down.
They tried to call her friends' house, but apparently Chizuru went to Mieko's parents house. Mieko wanted to pick her up soon, but Hirofumi held her back, "Let her stay over at your parents' house for the night, I will pick her up tomorrow.".
The next day, Hirofumi tried to talk to Chizuru about Mieko's worries. And she finally understand and came home. Mieko and Chizuru apologized to each other. Since then, everytime Chizuru stay over at a friend's house she would send a fax to Mieko.
The next story is about Hirofumi's worries what if someday he dies and no one can take care Mieko and Chizuru. His colleague once asked him, "Have you ever think of what if your wife can hear?". Hirofumi said yes, he has thought about it before, imagining what it's like to have a wife who can hear. But somehow that thought fades away and disappeared itself, he cannot imagine it anymore.
Meanwhile, Mieko received an invitation letter to a "Miracle Can Happen! You'll be Able To Hear too" seminar and trial. Mieko know this is a fake letter. But she can't seem to throw that letter as it gives her hope. She kept imagining what its like to be able to talk to Hirofumi and Chizuru normally. Somehow she registered to the seminar, and it was right on her birthday.
Hirofumi and Chizuru with Hirofumi's parents and Mieko's parents planned a surprise birthday party for Mieko. On the morning Mieko already left to go to the seminar.
At home, they found the seminar letter that Mieko goes to. They are very sad to know what is happening. But Hirofumi tried to cheer everyone up and saying that he is sure Mieko will be home anytime soon.
She arrived in front of the building where the seminar is held. But Mieko stopped, after thinking it over and over, she decided not to enter the building and left back home. At home, Mieko's mother slapped her face and was very angry. Mieko cried and apologized. Hirofumi hugged her and calmed her down. And then they celebrate her birthday together.
In the last scene, when the Nobe family was playing around at the beach. Mieko told Hirofumi and Chizuru that she is happy and she is glad to have them as her family. She used to think how much better would it be if she can hear, but now she is happy of what she has. If someday she can be re-born again, she'd want to be re-born as a deaf person again. Because that way, she can meet Hirofumi and Chizuru again.
THE END
I want another sequel!!!!!*v*
Kanno Miho is really a versatile actress, I just realized that once again. After I watched this drama, I watched "W no Higeki" special drama where Miho acted as this woman with a peculiar/strange/weird characteristics and laughs alot.... and just... weird, lol. While in Kimi no Te, she is soooo sweet and except her hearing ability she was very, very normal XD Her other excellent performance was as the evil cousin in Koi no Kiseki (Love Miracle), it really left me a deep impression and that was the drama that made me start liking Miho even before I know she was dating Goro^^
Oh, Magerarenai Onna's Miho is another different kind of weird woman. LOL! I really laughed to see Miho dancing to Michael Jackson's Black and White in that drama complete with the "Pfow!" shout. Haha.... too many connections with Goro! XD
I also just watched Miho promoting Kiina in Shabekuri 007 hosted by several comedians and she really can handle comedians very well^^ Some actresses just don't know how to react with comedians (like Takeuchi Yuko or Horikita Maki) but Miho has a high sense of humor so she can really mingle with them and added in some jokes too^^ The comedian told her to do this running joke that all the comedians did during the show, and when the comedians asked Miho to do it, she really did it, and frankly I think it was quite embarrassing for an actress to do, lol, so it surprised the comedians as they didn't really mean it, they said, "Just how high is your sense of humor??". Miho-chan omoshiroi!^^ She really has this "baka side" of her, lol.
Back to the drama, this is a music video I made with LOVE LOVE LOVE by Dreams Come True, a themesong of another drama about deaf character, Aishiteru to itte kure^^
