The Reunion Scene

For someone who hasn't been watching this series from the start, I went straight into this episode and got pretty lost when I was wondering how it was that Golden-Mane Lion didn't recognise Wuji as his grandson when Wuji was fighting the Persians...this we got to the reunion scene. Somehow, I seemed to have forgotten this scene in the previous editions that I saw, but wondering what you made of this scene and how well it compared to the original novel?
