So I've done some thinking lately...

I figured that it's extremely hard for me to get into any colleges declaring myself as a compsci major because of how poorly I'm doing in math right now. I've a plan that involves me declaring myself as a Japanese major while applying, but switching to compsci after I get in ( Read more... )

I'm no help, but it must suck to be in the same class as people who are younger than you.

Huh? I never said anything about being older than everyone...I'm actually in the middle in terms of age when it comes to my grade, and younger than most for a handful of my classes.

No, I mean if you want to change to CompSci after doing Japanese, you'll be a year behind.

to be honest the major you declare while going in has absolutely nothing to do with your admission status. Most colleges don't allow you to officiate your major until the end of your 1st or 2nd year anyway.

Yeah. most colleges don't really look at what major you go into. But if you want into a specific program, transfer students from community colleges get first dibs since it's the end of the line for them and it's uni or bust. Plus, it's a cheaper route. o:

City colleges here have been getting so SHAFTED lately, though and alskdjlaksjdasd

As practical as the community college route is, you know how my family is...

You can get into the college but not into the major :) It doesn't really affect your college admission.

Personally I would just apply to compsci for all the universities you want to go to. Your grades don't really matter that much if your SAT scores are awesome. I applied for pre-pharmacy and got rejected from some of the prestigious schools (I had a 4.2 GPA, but my test scores weren't that high lol). BUT. I got into the program at a state university, which isn't too bad.

Of course iono if you want to take this route since your family... uhh... yeah. What college does your family want you to go to?
