After wandering through dA for a while...

I've been looking for a series of Harry Potter comics my friends showed me a while ago. They were all simple and hilarious, and the one I remember was of Willy Wonka throwing a pair of tennis shoes into a potion Snape was making "to give it some kick."

I found it.

It's by SnapeSnogger.

And you know what? She's not bad. There are only two fatal flaws ( Read more... )

It's not the noseless thing that bothers me, so much as the fact that all the faces she draws look exactly the same. There's no variety. The problem with her style is not laziness (which is the primary reason we leave off the noses on chibis) but an artistic rut. How long has it been since there was any noticeable change in her style? Going by her gallery, I'd say about a year and a half. She's found a formula and she's sticking with it.

To play devil's advocate for a second, you'd have to edit this rant to say Kazuki Takahashi keeps forgetting noses on his characters too.

LIKE HELL I'm giving her my money! *strokes her money in a Gollumesque way*

What Snoggy is good at is expressing emotion, marker work and coloring in general. She's got a great sense of linework and color.

However, all of her anatomy needs work, not just the faces. She tends to draw arms too short, for one. Also, even in recent pictures you can see she doesn't have much of a handle on perspective. Oftimes characters don't really feel "grounded" because the perspective lines are all off in places.

That, and she keeps saying she wants to make Red Venom a comic...so where are all her sequentials? She almost NEVER does them. Even the ones she did for RV she's since taken down. She's not only stuck in a rut, she's stuck in a pinup rut, and pinups =/= sequentials. If she wants the story to get published EVER (to what I still say HAHAHAHA, because that's going to be an extremely difficult story to market) then she needs to actually practice sequential art and get more experience doing layout and dialogue on top of just drawing the characters.
