Following the events of my fic 'Dubious Date', here comes a short sequel.
Hope you will like!
Title: Irresponsible
Pairing: Soundwave / Perceptor
Rating: T
Characters: Perceptor, Soundwave, mentions of Ironhide and the Cassettes.
Summary: "And here I thought only the Twins could be so irresponsible..."
When it came to courting someone you loved, Cybertronians didn’t have a lot of options. Especially not in wartime, on a mud ball planet far, far away from Cybertron and the usual places appreciated by every couple with an half working processor.
Nonetheless, there was always ways to make someone notice you. Like, taking him on a date.
Perceptor had to attempt one once, even if he wasn’t on his own accord. To shorten a long story, he had been kidnapped by over enthousiastics Cassettes who wanted to see their creator in someone else’s berth for once and didn’t fancy the idea of a Decepticon lover.
The fact Soundwave had sounded inflatued with him had been their only reference.
So, he had to pass the night with the Decepticon Communication Officer before being able to go back to the Ark. Of course, he would have gotten there sooner if he had been able to escape his chains by himself. Instead, he had to watch a movie with his captor before Soundwave felt generous enough to deliver him.
Still, outside of the awkwardness of the whole situation, it hadn’t been so bad. The movie had been good, the energon wasn’t drugged, Soundwave hadn’t tried to force him in anyway...
Except for a few kisses and the way he wrapped his arm around Perceptor’s shoulder’s or waist, caress him everywhere, but Perceptor hadn’t minded too much after a while.
He had said so to the Decepticon before leaving. It had been almost a month ago.
And now...
Soundwave didn’t exactly look good. He couldn’t say because of the mask, of course, but Perceptor was almost certain he was looking sheepish right now.
To say the Autobot scientist wasn’t exactly impressed would have been an understatement. No, he wasn’t angry, far from it. In fact, he was downright furious, although he tried not to show it. But he had no doubt the mech in front of him knew that already.
Almost nothing could escape Soundwave’s notice.
Arms crossed over his chest, the red Transformers looked at the dark blue Decepticon with something akin to anger... and no small amounts of amusement.
“So, let me get it straight. Because I told you that if your Cassettes weren’t the ones to drag me away from my friends, and you went yourself to fetch me and not with a gun pointed to my face, I wouldn’t mind going out again with you, you actually tried to come see me?”
“Answer: affirmative.”
Perceptor didn’t know if he should laught or cry. He had never thought the Decepticon would take it seriously. Or that he would really try to come by himself to get him. The Cassettes wouldn’t have surprised him; but Soundwave himself?
Wasn’t he supposed to be a reasonable mech?
Of course, reasonable didn’t alway mean wise...
“And upon reaching the area surrounding the Ark, you came face to face with Ironhide?” he continued on a neutral tone.
“Affirmative: stupid Autobot wouldn’t let me pass.”
“No surprise here, I dare say. So, you met Ironhide...Or rather, you met his fist in the face.”
“Impact: still hurting,” indicated Soundwave while rubbing the right side of his head.
Not detered in the least, Perceptor continued:
“Upon which you got into a brawl with him and had to get away before reinforcements came, but not before you dispatched Laserbeak with a message for me, telling me to meet you here?”
“Answer: still afirmative.”
“So...now what?”
In answer, Soundwave took something out of subspace. For a second, Perceptor tensed, almost expecting a weapon. But what he saw left him speechless.
He stared longly as the object was pushed in his arms. Finally regaining his voice, he almost screamed.
“You... you almost got yourself slagged to give me a bunch of flowers?!”
“Flowers: not acceptable gift?” said the Decepticon, tilting his head.
Reluctanctly, Perceptor answered:
“Well, they are nice...”
And they were. Of course, they weren’t real flowers, but artificial ones, shapped to have a size acceptable for Cybertronians. He wondered where the other mechs had gotten them. From a human manufacturer? Where they came from, they certainly hadn’t come cheap...
Unless he had done them himself? But was that really the point here?
“Proposition: going on a date again?”
Perceptor blinked. Well, as much as an giant robot could. Was it him, or was he sounding... hopeful? Perceptor looked at him for a long while.
So, he wanted to go out again. Fine. But was it a guarantee he wouldn’t try anything? Rumble and Frenzy had said he never did anything on the first date, but they didn’t said anything about the second...
Would he really mind if soundwave jumped him in the end?
... He really needed to think about that carefully.
“...Can we report to this latter? Once you’re repaired and healthy again? And so I can have some time to think about it?”
Soundwave nodded.
“Suggestion: acceptable.”
Perceptor sighed while taking a few tools out of subspace, putting the flowers on the ground beside him; he couldn’t do much for now, but no need to let the other suffer unnecessarily. As he began working, he mumbled:
“And here I thought only the Twins could be so irresponsible...”
