An important PSA about black holes

Okay folks. Since I had fun doing that last little rant about 2012, I thought I'd link this for anyone who has the wrong idea about black holes. No, there are no black holes in 2012. Frankly, that would have IMPROVED the movie ( Read more... )

lol, I wouldn't be surprised people prolly are thinking up theories about Jupiter somehow getting out of orbit (sun dieing thus the pull weakens?) and then crashing into let's say Saturn and other planets to increase size and decrease density... and with that energy increasing the heat of the surface and the rest and turning it into at least a small Red Dwarf (considering people also like to think stars are suns, which can be considered another mistake) and all that BS @.@

Well, actually, star = sun. Sun, in English, usually just refers to our Sol. Big ball of gas with fusion in the core. HOWEVER, they're not enough mass in the solar system to make a second star. Hell, there's not enough to make a brown dwarf, which is a kind of pseudo-star. Unfortunately, bad science fiction can lead to bad science understanding in dumb people.
