I notice that there's a tiny voice in the back of my head that periodically wants to say "meow".

I think it is my inner cat.

Perhaps I should have never gotten my inner child a pet.

Being a new parent is an intense experience. Our inner children sometimes get neglected while our focus is held captive elsewhere. Just remember to take little moments to check in with the inner child and scratch the cat behind the ears, leaving a saucer of milk and an agreement that you will not forget either of them. When the new bundle of joy is a little older, there will be plenty of opportunities for your inner little to come out and play with her.
