First, the new stuff, repeated for those of you boycotting, hating, not familiar with or not having access to IRC:

I got to level 95 in Flopside's Pit of 100 Trials.

And then I was killed.

Nintendo, you are the epitome of bitter bile. You also know that we both know that I'll be trying again in two days.

Well, the problem is when you shove everything into "trolls" and "victims". Not everyone intentionally does these things, and it's easy for people to just randomly blurt out something before it occurs to them someone else might not yet want to know. I've seen this recently with people LJing about the end of the Sopranos and failing to put things behind an LJ-cut.

It's not like those people were trying to piss off those who hadn't seen the ending yet, they just didn't think about it. Though that isn't very nice to those who haven't seen it yet, it's not exactly "aggressive".

Like everything, it's a spectrum. And some people and situations are worse than others, but a lot of it falls in a big gray area of how considerate you can be toward others while still speaking your own mind.

At least on LJ, if you have a few people doing things like that, a filter would nicely take care of it. Then you can say "NO ONE BETTER SPOIL YADDA YADDA" to the filter and be fine.

Myself, I wouldn't bother writing about spoilerish things until I was reasonably certain it's generally available. Or use a cut. Or wait until everyone else has seen it if I didn't want to use a cut.

I always use an LJ-cut when spoiling things. Makes things simple.

Not that it's your problem afterward, but people will peek and then go "OMG I'VE BEEN SPOILED" :o)

[Saying something like, "NO ONE BETTER SPOIL MY MOVIE OMGWTF" is probably taking things too far, though. That's like painting a huge target on your ass. Trolls are the aggressors, and there are victims, but being a -willing- victim takes a special brand of gusto.]

How can you be a whiny (self-imagined) martyr if you don't put out a sign for the Interwub that blares the text "Easy trolling here" in 75-point blinking font? But I've already had this conversation, haven't I? You just can't convince some folks that they are their own worst enemy when they behave in this manner..

I take it, then, that you don't read mystery novels.

Reading the list of enemies for the Flopside Pit, knowing I have to beat it twice to get anything from it, and seeing recommendations that you should be level 35 or higher before trying it, I've put it off to focus on beating the game first. I'm only level 16 with 65 HP ( ... )

level 35 or higher before trying it

Makes sense. I was only a 26 by the time I got to level 90. Guess it's time to catch a few more Amazy Dayzees and sell them off for coins so I can level up quicker. :o)

I am waiting until I'm sufficiently leveled up to go into chapter 8, but I might just go anyway. After beating Flipside Pit of 100 Trials and leveling up a bit, I'm much stronger than I was after chapter 7.

The error messages for the News and Weather channels when standby isn't enabled are misleading! It said "WiConnect24 is off," but I'd turned it on. The Standby mode was off, though. Yeah, that's an annoyance.

I haven't had any overheating yet, but things do get quite warm. Any disc left in there will be warm when I eject it. They should run the fan in standby mode; it doesn't seem to be turned on.

Chapters 8-1 through 8-3 were harder than any of the other chapters, but I just got more proficient at using Barry, Slim, and rapidly flipping back and forth between the two dimensions for defense against enemies that can flip themselves. I started 8-1 at level 14 ( ... )

Ouch. Even in standby mode, the case was barely warm. The only reason I suspected any real amount of heat was present was because the disc was warm when I took it out. It certainly doesn't smell like melted plastic!

I think the Weather and News channels should be fixed to not depend on the standby connection. Every other channel works fine without it.
