Kalkriese wasn't really a trip down memory lane any more as we hadn't been there before; the site wasn't know yet when we still lived not-so-far from it, and we still thought of Porta Westfalica and the Arminius monument as the site of the Varus battle

Varus and his horse, pitifully sinking in the sand -- another modern art project. Purposefully sinking in the sand? My inner anthropology geek wants to be investigating the dig :)

I don't think there's more bronze than that what you see; it looks like a colossal statue sinking in the sand, but those heads are all there is, I would guess.
