T-Offline's DSL network has gone dead for much of Munich since the early morning today. I would be offline, only I kept my old modem cable around and am now hooked up by a dialup connection. But arghh!! No leaving everything open to wait for someone to react on discworld_rpg. Back to the bad old days of Pay Per Minute. I hope they fix it soon; I feel so ( Read more... )

So if you're listening to Wladyslaw Szpilman, is that a tie-in with the movie or not? (Er, that IS The Pianist, yes? Or am I going nuts?)

No nuts, Wiebke! None at all, rest assured. It was a tie-in with the DVD: that special editon contains a) the movie on DVD, b) a DVD of additional material, Making Of etc, and c) the CD with a Wladyslaw Szpilman recording and some music from the movie.

As for the movie itself, I haven't watched it yet; I had the Nazgul over tonight (I wish she'd get a livejournal), and we watched "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and "Velvet Goldmine". I very much felt it would be extremely unsuitable to double-feature "The Pianist" with either of them.-

"Fear and Loathing" did evil things to our brains. That's not a movie about drugs, it is a drug.

I know what you mean about certain films not mixing. I once watched Farewell My Concubine followed by Hard Day's Night.

Ouch!! Mega-ouch! So not right for your mind.

The Nazgul and I sometimes like to mix weirdly, but that would only be something like mixing a sweet, fluffy Brit comedy with some artsy movie that drips blood, or so...

Today's double feature was Two Of A Kind, and it was perfectly matched, apart from the fact we blew our brains to hell on that trip that was "Fear and Loathing".

The movie ends with a road sign: "You are now leaving Fear and Loathing, population: nil."

::rolls on the floor laughing at the mere thought of that::
