FIC: "Never Is A Promise" (HP, Harry/Hermione, Ron/Hermione) PG

Oct 06, 2011 18:37

Post-series, epilogue compliant and seriously the most middle-aged HP story you will read today, if not ever. Thanks as ever to rheanna27 for all her advice.

Summary: Many years too late, Harry realizes you can't get over something until you admit there's something to get over.

Never Is A Promise )

Oh! Oh! But...

Okay. Harry's a grown-up. I get it.

But for an inveterate H/Hr shipper, that was sad.

Well, I ship H/Hr when I'm not shipping Hr/Snape. LOL

I know -- I ship them too, obviously - but I was sort of taken with the idea of Harry knowing it could have happened, but too late.

You write so beautifully, it was really a great story. Just sad.

Perfect. Bittersweet and nostalgic, this fic is a believable takeoff of the real thing. It really feels canon...the Harry/Hermione hookup could be an entirely plausible scene in the last book. I loved the tone throughout, from the tense and terse fighting to the lighthearted ending about Cho. I'd love to see what happens!

So glad you enjoyed! I, too, really thought something could've happened between them in the final book, and it was interesting to imagine what that would mean within the canon we're given. Thanks for the FB!

Awwww.

There are so many ways this could've turned out but I like the way it ended.

I'm also very excited to see that you might write some straight up H/Hr. :D

This is so bittersweet, but perfect. I can see these events unfolding just like this. It makes my heart ache in more than one way.

So glad you liked! There's plenty of heartache to go around, here.

Excellent and totally plausible -- I like reading HP fic written in such a calm, mature, subtle style. Especially when it is the dreaded love triangle. :)

One thing though: I recall Harry straight up told Ron he saw Hermione like a sister after Ron destroyed the locket. Would have been interesting to see how he rationalized that.

Thanks muchly! :D

At that point, I feel certain Harry was trying very hard to see her as a sister.
