chaos, Upstairs Downstairs, Guiding Light

So, I thought I was flying down to NOLA for the house closing Tuesday night, but no! The flight is Tuesday morning. This makes tomorrow extra special chaos, during which I have -- you know, let's just say I have a lot to do. It's a little overpowering. But I'm canceling what I can cancel and determined to just get up in the morning and hit it hard ( Read more... )

I mostly watched GL between 92 and 98-ish, but I'm always happy to talk to anyone about it. :D

Ross and Blake -- awesome or SUPER AWESOME?

Roger Thorpe -- hate, love or CAUGHT IN ENDLESS CYCLE OF LOVE/HATE FOREVER?

Michelle Bauer -- cutest peanut ever?

I loved Ross and Blake! I was very upset during the pregnancy drama where they thought Rick was the father of one of the twins. ACK.

Definitely endless cycle of love/hate forever. I spent a lot of time talking at my tv, trying to convince him to be good.

Aw, Michelle! I think I loved all the Michelles. One of the actresses shows up in commercials every once in a while and I always get a little giddy. And I was flipping through channels the other day and I stopped on an old ep of The Jeffersons because the guy that played Fletcher Reade was on it and he was so young!

OMG, I'd forgotten the pregnancy drama. That was so freaky! God, I miss soaps.

I, too, wanted Roger to make a turnaround. I kind of rooted for him even when he was evil, because he annoyed Ed, and Ed annoyed me. And Roger was always at his most sympathetic when he was desperate to make it up to Holly (see icons). But lately I find myself far more generous toward Roger because of what happened to poor Michael Zaslow; all the sympathy has rolled back onto the character he played, because it has nowhere else to go.

My crush on the Fletcher actor totally began when he was Alan on the Jeffersons. But then in the mid '80s when he came on as the intrepid globetrotting journalist complete with jaunty hats and cargo vests, oh, my love, it was complete.

God, I LOVED Frank and Eleni. So, so much. Frank was not a great actor, but he didn't suck, at least not by soap levels of suck. And Harley and Mallet! When they got together during the Daniel St. John stuff -- omg.

Buzz! Nadine! That was some good stuff. Nadine, in particular, was the type of character dramas of all sorts love to create and toss away, but GL made her three dimensional and real.

Who was the character that Nola worked for? He had a housekeeper named Mrs. Renfield.

When I was in college we had to have a designated GL television in the dorm since almost everyone else watched another soap.

Quinton! I LOVED Quinton and Nola. She had been such a baddie on the show before he came into her world, and then they turned into the most delightfully whimsical, over the top couple, with all those great adventures and fantasy sequences.
