Adorable "Arrested Development" anecdote from an interview with Portia di Rossi, when she was talking about how close she was and is with the cast members: "I remember once I was making myself a peanut-butter sandwich at the craft service table, and Jason Bateman saw me and said, 'Oh, Porsh, we're not canceled yetUnusually for me, I have thoughts ( Read more... )

Um, if you have a stick shift car handy, I (and or my cousin) could teach you to drive one in an afternoon.

That's an idea. Are you coming out here over the holidays? I would love to see you!

Excellent! I'm traveling some over the holidays, but not so long that we shouldn't be able to intersect. Yay!

Eee, I love the concept of a Sweet Baboo! I think mine is Charley Dixon on TSCC. You knew it couldn't end well for him but you really wanted it to.

One of my Sweet Baboos died (Mr. Eko). Another, my Darth Baboo, was seriously wounded in the series finale, but you sensed deeply that he was too much of a bad-ass to die. I have high hopes that Coach Bieste will fare better.

Yes, that is the PERFECT way to describe Beiste: Sweet Baboo! I love her so much. I hated the Will/Beiste kiss at first, but upon rewatch, it is sweet and mutual and friendly, and "solidarity" is exactly the right word. And yes, to everything else -- I absolutely loved that Kurt's reaction to the kiss was that it was the worst thing, out of everything Karofsky's done.

Beiste! She is my Sweet Baboo, or, as she should properly be known, my Coach Baboo. There's something sort of interesting about the comparison of those kisses -- neither Kurt nor Coach Beiste's first kiss was what they dreamed of, but the context made the different between something horribly painful and something nonetheless sweet and meaningful.

Congrats on the driver's license - I too let mine lapse for long enough that I had to retest - which of course then led to all sorts of fun getting the "learner's permit" and then taking the driver's test. Definite feeling of accomplishment managing to get the license again!

... I am just now realizing how many Sweet Baboos I have, oh my goodness.

ETA: Congrats on the license regaining! Also, report back on the ease of learning stick, I am terrified of it but want to learn in case I ever need to know how.

There can be only one true Baboo at a time, though! You must pick among many potential candidates to find that soul which is most Baboo.

Thanks for the congrats! I've never forgotten a long ago incident in which a friend of mine was very ill and wanted me to drive him to the hospital in his car -- and it was a stick, so I couldn't. My role turned into staying in the passenger seat to make sure he didn't pass out. Not ideal.
