vacation's end

Technically, I do not leave Australia for another three days. However, in the past day or so it has become very apparent that I am really, really done. Like, yesterday I bailed on museumgoing and tours of more spectacular things I will never be in the same hemisphere with again to go see "Salt" at a movie theater. (Liked it! I've so been there -- even just at concerts (as usually, they seem to fall on days I have class, so I have to drive 1 hour to campus, attend 3+ hours of class, drive 1 hour home, drive 1 hour to the venue, stand for 5-6 hours, drive 1 hour home) as they seem to bunch up to the point of several per week.

& I liked Salt, too -- I'm so glad they went with a female lead instead of Tom Cruise.

Angelina Jolie was terrific, though I have to say, I'd probably rather have seen almost ANYONE but Tom Cruise. But basically, I want to see the crossover fic where she and Sydney Bristow take up and essentially RULE THE WORLD.

I don't even read fic, but I'd read that one. I might even use the word "fierce" for that scenario. Yes, yes, I think I would.

Prim's fate was definitely hard, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized how dramatically right it was, not only for the book and for the series. I felt the lack of Peeta's role at times -- although this series is fundamentally Katniss' story, a lot of what was done to her was done to them,, except that in this book he actually had it WORSE, and I would have liked for him to have a moment later in the book where he got to strike back at Snow/Panem with equal vigor. But that is a pretty small quibble for a really strong conclusion. I thought the resolution with Gale was particularly well done.

Boris Kodjoe may be the result of some human experiment to create concentrated sexiness.

Does the fact that Covert Affairs is not listed on your "still not to spoil" list mean that you've caught up on that series? If so, what are your thoughts (esp. on the Auggie-centric episode)?

I've been looking forward to more YahtzeeTV reviews.

Oh, no, I'm not! I'm just still having to get used to the fact that more of my flist is watching CA. If my TiVo has operated according to its master plan all month, I will be able to dive back in and watch them all when I get home -- in fact, I hope to marathon it on that first weird day when I'm trying to stay awake and beat jet lag at its own game.

3) The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, the HITCHHIKER'S series -- They served alcohol, right? At the end of the universe, you need alcohol. So I say it counts as a bar.

I doubt Ford would have gone there it it didn't count as a bar.

Thanks for the reminder that I am just not a bar (or club) person.
