Alias Fic: "What Julia Knew," chapter five (Syd/Will, J/I, AU, NC17) -- plus various and sundry

Apr 16, 2006 13:21

First off, the bit of the story that inspired the "disturbing themes" part of the original disclaimer. (V. gentle treatment, though.) I will be interested to know what you make of this.

Re the slashy couples question...I suspect that same sex pairings on t.v. operate the same way opposite sex pairings do: i.e., if they get together during the run of the series, the show officially jumps the shark. So...even though I see it, in the end I'd have to vote no.

(also? *I* want to go to Moscow!)

I don't think getting together equals jumping the shark, necessarily -- but OTOH, I see the great appeal of always being fanonical and therefore always being free from the bonds of nasty fact.

Let's go to Moscow together! And wear furry hats!

I think you should go to Istanbul. I was there for three days during a trip that also took me to Athens and most of the Greek Isles, and Istanbul was just an amazing, amazing city. I wish I'd had at least a week to spend there, maybe more.

Oh, I thought about you this weekend when I was watching "Shackleton," in a very, "This will NOT happen to Marina" kind of way. I need to email you soon -- watch your inbox!

Will take Istanbul under advisement, too. :D

I feel a great sense of accomplishment at having reached a point in my life where people watch Shackleton documentaries and think of me.

were you at tyron park? because if so, you should also try inwood park. it's forty acres and if you get to the top you can see for miles and all over the bronx and it's really pretty and not that populated.

the weather has been GORGEOUS lately, hasn't it?

I was indeed at Tyron Park, which is just opposite my house. Thanks to idlerat, I've seen Inwood Park and intend to explore it further, but Tyron Park will always have the key proximity factor.

Weather has been spectacular. Today I got to sit in the yard and show kitties and a squirrel to a very small baby, and I was happy.

I tried to email you a couple of weeks ago -- did that come through?

no! and now i feel terrible for not responding. it's possible it got eaten in my spam filter. if you want to try again, another_juxtaposition@hotmail.com is the safest way to go, i think.

and the weather HAS been grand. yesterday i wore my official "spring is here" outfit. glad to hear you're making good use of the parks - i definitely will be come summer.

I picked House/Wilson first, but upon reflection, I think I prefer them snarky and USTy at each other. Also, House is psychologically unable to have a relationship with anyone. Thus, UST it is and will probably stay. Cristina/Meredith, though, that would be fun.

Cristina/Meredith would be way fun, especially the look on Derek's face. But I am so fond of Cristina/Preston. Could he be the third member of an especially snarky and egotistical OT3? I see no reason why not. :D

It's not the most chocolate-bunny chapter ever, is it?

To be clear: Project Christmas DID work. If it hadn't, Sydney would now wholly believe herself to be Julia Thorne. But the brainwashing was still able to damage Sydney's psyche, and so even though she knows the other memories are fake, she can't make them go away. Does that make sense?

And yeah, poor Sydney is managing as best she can. Given what's in her head, she's actually been pretty heroic dealing with parents as well as she has, IMHO.

Thanks for the FB!
