Well it looks like my plans for seeing what sort of interest I might get in my cross-stitching at next years Tea and Bazaars has been kiboshed. I spoke to my aunt who I knew from years back was in the know about these things and I wanted an idea of what a table would cost or at the very least how soon we'd need to get in contact with the comity ( Read more... )

this is true, my sister picked up knitting and crocheting she's going to make me a warm blanket and in return I'll stitch her a picture of her kitty Dodger. This makes me the opposite of you 'cause I doubt I'll ever pick up knitting ^_~

There's always online places like etsy. I think the Farmers Market would be appropriate...

ah yeah I hadn't even thought about etsy, good suggestion ^_^

Do you know if you need permission or whatever to be there? I wasn't sure if that would have come up for you at all.

I seriously doubt Chris or I will be ready to do something like this by next summer, I really like the etsy idea I hadn't even thought about that site before you suggested it.

It's not so much that I don't think I'll be able to make it doing this [I know that I won't make enough to live off of but so long as I have all this spare time any money would be a bonus]

It's more [I think...'cause not even I understand what's going on in my head] that I've only been cross-stitching for a year now and shouldn't be prompting myself for commissions. Even if the only interest I get is from family I'd be happy. There's a store in town the owner of which has offered to hang my works to sell if I'd like and I'm definitely interested in looking into Etsy when I have more pictures of completed works.

I haven't tried stitching something for a pillowcase, do you need to buy special fabric? or could just about any scrap of cloth be turned into a pillowcase? I got the impression from a friend of mine that it might be the latter, however I also noticed that a site was selling pillowcase for this purpose.

Thanks for the advice!
