So apparently I am anemic. Who knew? Anyway, it's just a very basic iron deficiency based anemia. Apparently my fondness for leafy green vegetables has to do with them being rich in iron and my body demanding it subtly through an usual constant hankering for broccoli. Fun ( Read more... )

I recommend brown sugar and chocolate! They are both surprisingly high in iron. (Molasses has even more iron than brown sugar, since molasses is the part of the brown sugar that has the iron in it. But Americans don't use molasses for much these days...)

Hmm... This is an interesting idea. I do have a fondness for brown sugar, but I always figured it was just that I have a fondness for sugar. Man, this has me second guessing all my food preferences and wondering if they have deeper meanings.
