You don't fail. You're great to post these. It should help us all. I love the part about making a character different from yourself. A lot of writers, at least of fanfic, have a tendency to "Mary Sue" a character. That makes the story a lot less believable. Every character needs a flaw whether it's minor (Elizabeth) or major (John).
Amen to the flaw thing. Mary Sues drive me crazy. I really really hope I've never written anything like that.
The free writes we do in class this time, maybe, will be something I can post. I like doing that since you guys give me good feedback. I might post the novel ones and just change some things, I haven't decided yet.
I don't think you've ever written anything like that. It's pretty clear in your stories that you're really thinking about what flaw a character could have.
I read a lot of fanfic (not just 24) and you're the first one taking on a bigger, a physical flaw when you made Michelle blind. It's probably the coolest idea I've ever seen in the fanfic universe, so I wouldn't worry about Mary Sues if I were you.
