I would say that some quirks are definitely hereditary. During the first 2 years of his life, my son had minimal contact with his natural father and none at all after that, yet he displays many mannerisms and quirks that I know he can only have inherited from his father.

I hope my daughter does not pick up my horrendous habit of picking at my lips then. I try not to do it anymore, especially because I might give her the idea if she sees me.
